Kurt was late. It was his first day back at Dalton and he was late for his first class
What a great way to start the school year.
He spent the summer at home and since he'd arrived at Dalton so late last night because his dad's car broke down half way there they had to wait for the recovery truck for a good two hours, and when he did arrive he'd forgotten to set his alarm.
Kurt rushed around his room collecting his things and had no time to do his morning routine which annoyed more than anything.
After making sure he had everything his phone buzzed in his pocket.
He pulled it out and saw the name Sebastian and one new message.
Hey hot stuff, where you at? We've got a new English teacher and I have to admit he's easy on the eyes ;) - Sebastian
Kurt rolled his eyes. It was typical Sebastian, he'd fuck anything with two legs and had probably dated every gay guy at Dalton except for Kurt who refused to become anything more than friends.
Basically Sebastian was a creep and only dated a guy if they were willing to have sex and then dump them after.
That wasn't Kurt's thing.
Kurt decided not to reply and hurried out his room and down the Dalton halls. He was partically running and knocked down a few students on his way.
When he reached the class, he decided to have a moment to catch his breath.
Kurt could hear the teacher going through the register and suddenly heard him call his name.
Kurt opened the door and walked in.
"I'm sorry I'm late," Kurt says.
As the teacher turned around, Kurt was actually taken a back. Sebastian wasn't lying when he said the teacher was easy on the eyes. His dark hair was slicked back with gel and which Kurt thought was a little too much since he could smell the gel from where he was standing.
"It's fine. And you are?" The teacher asked.
"Kurt, Kurt Hummel," He answered.
"Kurt Hummel," The teacher mumbled as he searched his name on the register "Arh, Kurt Hummel, you can take your seat now," He ticked Kurt's name off and continued with the register.
Kurt took his usual seat next to Sebastian who was smirking.
"Told you," Sebastian whispers.
Kurt stares at him "Told me what?"
"Didn't you get my text?" Sebastian asks.
"Yeah," Kurt replies.
"Well, do you-"
"Sebastian Smythe?" The teacher calls.
Sebastian raised his hand and continued.
"So what do you think of him," Sebastian whisperes, motioning with his head to the man at the front.
"Sebastian, shut up," Kurt gave him a disgusted look.
"Oh I see, your saving yourself for me," Sebastian smirks.
Kurt doesn't even want to go through that discussion again and focuses on the teacher.
"All right, now since it's the first day back and the fact that I left my briefcase in my car, I'm just going to let you relax and talk because I'm guessing its what your iching to do," As the teacher finished his small speech everyone started talking.
Sebastian tried talking to Kurt but he just blocked him out.
Kurt kept his eyes on the man at the front. He watched him as took a sip out of his mug and stretched before sitting down behind his desk and for some reason Kurt found that slightly sexy.
Kurt mentally kicked himself.
You can't find a teacher sexy, Kurt.
Cute maybe but not sexy.
"Kurt?" Sebastian says, trying to get his attention "Kurt?" He tries one more time and watches as he pulls out his phone.
"Give me that," Sebastian takes the phone out of Kurt's hand.
"Sebastian, give it back," Kurt raised his voice a little, catching some of the student's and the teacher's attention.
"Then stop ignoring me!" Sebastian shouted and stood up.
"Hey, whats going on here," The teacher stands up and begins to walk closer to their desk.
"He's took my phone," Kurt explains.
"Oh just - fuck you, Kurt," Sebastian says slamming the phone down on the desk before grabbing his bag and heading for the door.
"Aren't you going to stop him," Kurt asks and looks up at the teacher who was just stood watching.
"If he's upset, it's better that he carms down before anyone goes near him" The teacher explains as he turns to Kurt.
Kurt nods and grabs his phone.
"What was your name again?" Kurt looked up.
Kurt clears his throat before speaking "Kurt Hummel," he states.
"Kurt Hummel" He smiles "It fits you well."
"I'm Mr. Anderson by the way," Mr. Anderson begins "I did mention it earlier but you were late, so."
"Sorry about that," Kurt blushes.
"It's fine," Mr Anderson says waving his hand dismissivly "Over laid?" He asks.
Kurt nods "I didn't get here until about 11:45 last night and I had to unpack everything so I forgot to put my alarm on."
"How come you got here so late?" Mr. Anderson asks sitting on Kurt's desk.
Most students would find it a little strange if there was a teacher trying to have a casual conversation with you but Kurt didn't really care because Kurt does find him, as Sebastian said 'easy on the eyes'.
"My dad's car broke down and we had to wait for the recovery truck to pick us up. We waited for a good two hours,"
"Wow, that must have sucked," Kurt nods "Anyway, about your friend is he always like that," he asks.
"Oh Sebastian? Pretty much, when he doesn't get his own way or if you ignore him he gets upset because he's used to having lots of attention," Kurt explains"And he's not my friend, I just talk to him".
As Kurt explains, Mr. Anderson listens closely. He doesn't really care for the matter but there was something about Kurt that made him want to keep talking.
"How old are you?" Mr. Anderson blurts out.
Kurt was surprised by the change of subject but answered.
"I'm seventeen, you?" Kurt blushes slightly. He just asked a teacher their age.
"You know your not supposed to ask an elderly person there age," his teacher says in a sarcastic tone, making Kurt blush even more "I'm twenty three, twenty four next month," Mr. Anderson smiles.
I can't believe you just asked him how old he is, Anderson. Leave this conversation now before you say anything else inapproiate.
"Wow, aren't you a little young to be a teacher?" Kurt says, feeling a little embarrassed as he asks.
"I've been getting that all morning and yes I may be young but age can't stop someone from getting a job," Mr. Anderson explains.
Kurt nods.
They smiled at each other for longer then they'd intended before Kurt looked away, blushing slightly.
"Anyway, um about Sebastian?" Mr. Anderson says as he looked down at his watch.
"Hmm?"
"I think it'd be best if you didn't sit next to him next time," The teacher says and Kurt nods.
"I'll move to the back an-" Kurt was stopped by Mr. Anderson.
"No, no, I'll tell him to move, it's fine. You can stay there," Mr. Anderson insists.
"OK," Kurt smiles.
As the bell rang Mr. Anderson began shouting above the noise.
"Make sure your all here tomorrow on time" He does a quick glance at Kurt "We'll be starting some Shakespeare and you sure wouldn't want to miss that" he said sarcastically and Kurt found himself rolling his eyes at him.
As the classroom emptied, Kurt and his teacher were the only ones left.
Mr. Anderson turns to see Kurt staring at him and smiles.
They both stood smiling for a few seconds before Kurt realised he was going to be late for his next class.
"Well" Kurt begins, looking at his watch "I better get going, bye Mr. Anderson."
"Bye, Kurt" Mr. Anderson says he name ever so sweetly and Kurt smiles to himself as he walks through the door.
As he leaves Mr. Anderson tears his gaze away from Kurt and sits down behind his desk and smiles.
They both can't help smiling for the rest of the day, knowing they'd see each other again tomorrow.
