This was a short one, but the next chapter will be longer
Kurt moved uncomfortably in his sleep, trapped in a dangerous dream, He was slammed into a dumpster, a shard of glass forcing its way into his shoulder. He tried to get up, but one of the boys jumped in after him and placed a foot on his stomach, keeping him in place.
“Let's teach this fucker a lesson, yeah?” He turned Kurt around so he lay face down in some kind of old food. The older boy placed a knee on the lower part of his back. Kurt shuddered as cold metal dug its way into his right shoulder. He screamed as the knife cut a deep wound in his flesh; the pain was unbearable, but then the knife suddenly disappeared and he was turned around, staring into the eyes of his attacker. “Kurt…
“Noah.” He was free then and jumped out of the dumpster, running for his life. The jocks came after him, but he just ran and ran until he came to a door. He threw it open, jumped inside and slammed it behind him. Too late did he realize that he ran from the frying pan and into the fire. He was in a small, nearly empty room, only containing a desk, a chair and a smirking Karofsky. Kurt turned to run out again, but the door was gone. There were neither doors nor windows, only dark walls.
“Let's continue were we left of.” Karofsky came closer and pressed his body and lips to Kurt's. He tried to fight, tried to get away. But it was all in vain, and this time no one would rescue him. Karofsky forced his sweater and tank top off and threw him unto the desk, stomach down and legs dangling over the edge.
“I'm gonna fuck you till you faint you little fairy,” Karofsky growled as he ripped off the rest of Kurt's clothes and placed both hands on his butt. Kurt woke up screaming.
“Kurt, you okay?” Finn and Noah stood by his bedside, looking down at him with concerned faces. His panic increased and he got out of bed, one thought filling his mind: I have to get out of here. He ran for the door and threw himself out of it, continuing down the hall to his right at full speed. The others called after him, but he just ran, ran, ran. He didn't know how much time had gone by when he finally was calm enough to sit down. He didn't know where he was; only that it was one of the halls with cabins on both sides. He leaned against a wall and closed his eyes as his heartbeat slowed.
His nightmare had been so realistic, but he shouldn't have freaked out like that. It was just that Noah and Finn were some of the last people he wanted to see after a dream like that. Especially when a part of it was based on one of his worst memories of Noah, from the time when he was still Puck and one of the worst people in his world. He wasn't afraid of him anymore, but the conversation they had the previous night probably triggered some old fears and memories. He sighed and hid his face in his hands.
“Kurt?” He looked up in surprise and right at Nick and Jeff. “You okay?” Nick gave him a worried look. “Yeah, just… stuff.” He sighed again and the boys gave him weird and worried looks. “Why are you here? What happened?”
“Nightmare. I kinda freaked out and ran from the room.”
“Do you want us to follow you back or something?”
“Not really.”
“You have history with those guys, don't you? Besides glee-club I mean?” Jeff looked at him knowingly. “Yeah, you could say that.” Nick and Jeff looked at each other, sharing a silent conversation for a while before Jeff turned back to him with a smile. “You can't sit out here all night. So come with us to our room, for a while at least.”
Kurt hesitated for a moment before he got up and followed them down the hall. “What are you two doing out in the middle of the night anyway?”
“Umm… We went on a… night stroll,” Nick mumbled. “The private kind,” Jeff added.
“Did you have fun?”
“Loads of,” Jeff grinned and Kurt laughed. Niff was the most adorable couple ever, he really wanted a relationship as theirs one day. Nick opened the door in front of them and they walked into a huge room containing three double beds, six single ones and all the Warblers. How did a bedroom like this even exist on a boat? The perks of being rich kids. The guys looked surprised over at them as Jeff closed the door. Kurt couldn't blame them, he would have been shocked if he was in their position.
“Guys, Kurt had some… problems with sleeping and stuff. So we, Jeff and I that is, figured he could sleep here tonight. Okay?”
“What a well put together speech Nick,” Ethan snorted “but yeah, sure. Where's he going to sleep though?”
“Glad you asked,” Jeff smirked “we figured you could sleep in the twins' bed so it'll be room in Blaine's for Kurt.”
“Wha- Why do I have to sleep with those two creeps?”
“Hey now, that hurts,” Cameron exclaimed.
“Don't be such a bitch about it, you've done it before,” Nick added.
“You don't have to go through all this trouble for me,” Kurt said, but they didn't listen to him.
“Come now baby,” Richard murmured.
“Yeah, you can sleep in the middle,” Cameron supplied. Ethan shot them dirty looks, but went over to their bed anyway.
“Hey don't worry,” Nick whispered from Kurt's side “they are close enough to share a bed, there's a reason we call them the Mames-triangle.”
“The what?” Kurt gave him a confused look. “Ethan Moore and the James-twins, the Mames-triangle.” Kurt stared at him in shock and he grinned back. “But you should get over to Blainers now before he gets lonely.” Nick gave him a push and Kurt slowly walked over to the bed, sitting down on it. Nick and Jeff walked over to the last double bed and got comfortable under the sheets as Wes turned off the lights and told them it was time to sleep. Kurt didn't lie down though, he felt like he was intruding and didn't want to annoy Blaine. He could just sit here throughout the night; it was more comfortable than the floor anyway.
“Hey Kurt, what's wrong?” Blaine's silky voice came from behind him. “I just… I don't want to impose.”
“Don't be silly, you're not. Now lie down with me.” Kurt swallowed and hesitated a moment longer before he lay down. But, Blaine told him to do it after all, he said it was okay. He faced the other boy, who laid a comforting hand on his cheek at once and smiled sweetly.
“What happened Kurt? Do you want to talk about it?” It was nice of Blaine to give him an easy way out, but he didn't really mind telling him.
“I had a nightmare about Karofsky and the other jocks at school. It was based on things that happened a while ago, but the Karofsky-part was just so much worse and,” his voice shook, but he continued anyway. “And… When I woke up Finn and Noah, you know Puck, were there, and they used to be part of that gang and I just freaked out and then I ran away.” He was on the verge of tears and Blaine gathered him up in his arms, pulling him close.
“It's okay. I'm here now and I'm going to protect you. I'm not going to let anyone hurt you, not even in your dreams. So try to sleep Kurt. Sleep and dream of me.” So that's what he did. He settled into Blaine's embrace and laid his head on his chest. “Goodnight Blaine.”
“Goodnight Kurt, sleep tight.”
“And don't let the bed bugs bite,” he murmured as he fell asleep in Blaine's warm, strong arms. He felt so safe there and he dreamt of Blaine, sweet, happy dreams.
