Finn wasn't sure when he'd agreed to baby sitting Karlie for the night, but according to both Blaine and Kurt he'd agreed to it. He was pretty sure it was some sort of off hand comment he'd made when she was born because he thought she was so cute. Offering to watch her whenever they needed. But either way he was with her tonight, and he had no idea what to do.
When Kurt dropped Karlie off he kissed the two year old on the head and sat her on the floor inront of the coffee table in Finn and Rachel's living room. He backed up watching her hoping that she wouldn't start crying. If she started crying there was no way he'd know what to do. He sat down on the couch and watched her as she stared back at him with a blank expression.
What did they send to play with her with? Oh! That's right. He pulled a few toys out of her diaper bags and placed them in front of her. "There ya go." He smiled a little, satisfied with himself. He turned on the tv and turned it on Disney Channel. Because thats what kids watch. Right? She stared at the television contently while every now and then playing with one of her toys.
Finn didn't get why suddenly it was harder to take care of her now. He used to do it all the time when she was a baby, but now he felt like there were so many things that could go wrong, she could walk now so more injuries. She can open things more, oh god, what if she chokes?!
The thoughts were overflowing from his mind so quickly that he didn't even hear the small wimpers coming from the small girl on the floor. He looked down at the brown haired girl and panicked. She had tears in her eyes and she was staring straight up at him. He walked slowly over to her and she put her arms up as if begging him to pick her up. He houisted the small girl up on his hips. She burried her head in his shoulder before looking back up at him.
"Dada!" She wailed miserably, holding out the last vowel of the word.
"Hey..It's okay Karls..Daddy and Dada just went out for a little, they'll be back..It's okay." He bounced her.
"Daddy!" She wailed this time. He sighed. What was he supposed to do now? The toddler still cried in his arms.
"Shhh.." He cooed to her, hoping he could soothe her.
What was it that Kurt always did when she was a baby to calm her down? Shit. It was..
Singing! That was it.
"Hey shh.." He started to sing.
I could stay awake, just to hear you breathing,
watch you smile while you are sleeping, while you're far away and dreaming,
He finished the song and looked down at the drowsy little girl in his arms, "They'll be back soon.." He promised and kissed the top of her head.
"You're the coolest niece ever, you know that?" He smiled as she yawned. He cooed mindless things to her until he was sure she was asleep. He sat down on the couch with her in his arms.
Kurt unlocked the door himself and walked in to find Finn and Karlie asleep on the couch. He smiled and walked over to retreive his daughter, who he was sure would throw a fit about leaving her uncle Finn.
