"Come on Karls..I know you can say it..Come on..Dada." Blaine said for what seemed like the millionth time that day. He'd been at home with the nine month old all day trying to get her to say 'dada' or 'daddy' or even 'da'. But she was completely silent whenever he asked.
Most of the time she didn't even babble. "Karlie Marie..I know you can say it..Come on, Dada!" he said again.
She sat in her highchair looking at him as if he'd grown another head.
"What about this? Can you say Da?"
She looked at him, her tiny eyebrows half raised.
"Okay, I think that's enough trying for today." He sighed then smiled at his little girl, standing up to get her out of the highchair. Within the movement his foot slid and jammed into the side of the kitchen table he'd been sitting by.
"Dammit!" He cursed under his breath.
"Dammit!" A small voice echoed. Blaine's eyes widened. He turned to see Karlie smiling and smacking the top of her highchair table.
"Dammit Dammit!" She squealed.
"Umm..Uh..No no Karlie..Don't say that word. That's a no-no word." Blaine quickly tried to fix what he'd just started.
"Dammit!" She squealed again.
"You're Daddy is not gonna be happy when he comes home.." Blaine sighed and took the little girl out of the highchair.
