"Coop, I got this, she's almost a year old, and you know she'll let me know if something's wrong, she's your kid of course she's vocal." Blaine smiled when Cooper handed his one year old daughter Lindsay over to Blaine. Blaine wasn't really on-board with babysitting her until she was a little older, he was always kind of nervous around babies. He didn't know if it was the fact that one small thing could hurt them, or if when they were crying he didn't know what was wrong, he wasn't sure, but he was sure that babies terrifed him.
But his sweet niece Linsay was a little different. From the second Cooper and his wife Adrian came home from the hospital with the beautiful bright-eyed baby, Blaine had been in love. Both Blaine and Kurt had been in love actually. Adrian loved Kurt, loved having him over to she and Cooper's house and loved going shopping with him, and loved spending time with him in general. So Kurt saw alot of Lindsay with Blaine too. But no matter how much Blaine loved Lindsay he refused to watch her on his own.
If she'd ever get left with him, Kurt was always there with him and Cooper and Adrian were both very comfortable with him handling their baby girl. So this was the first time Blaine was watching his neice all alone.
Cooper kissed Lindsay on the cheek one more time before leaving Blaine in his house by himseld. Because just like when Blaine and Cooper were little, their parents were never around, this must have applied to grandchildren too because Blaine could probably count the times they'd seen Lindsay on one hand. He rolled his eyes at the thought of his parents and looked down at the little girl in his arms.
She smiled and clapped her hands at him. He grinned at her and smoothed down her static-filled hair that was sticking up on the top of her head. She had so much hair that it was crazy, it went to her chin and it was so thick that it took Blaine extra effort to run his fingers through it. He'd always complained about his hair and now he felt beyond sorry for this little girl with crazier hair than him. Luckily her hair was straight like her dad's. Her eyes were practically the size of Blaine's, and identically brown like his.
He smiled down at her and put her down on the floor, letting her be free to toddle around like he was sure she wanted to. She walked into the kitchen first. Looking up at the counter and seeing a bundle of bananas sitting way beyond her reach "Nanas!" She exclaimed.
Blaine looked down at her and smiled "You want a banana?"
"Nana!" She squealed. Blaine picked her up and put her on the counter and took a banana off of the bundle and began to remove the peel from it. He broke a small piece off and handed it to her. She held it in her hands until there were mashed bananas all over her hands. She put her tiny hands on her cheeks and smiled up at Blaine, to show how proud of herself she was.
"Now your messy.." He smiled. He lifted her off of the counter and took her over to the sink to wash her hands and face off. "Who said it was a good idea to let you talk me into giving you bananas?" He cooed at her. He ran some warm water and covered a paper towel with it and began to wipe her face. She babbled the whole time he cleaned her hands and when he cleaned her face the noise was muffled by the paper towel gliding over her tiny mouth.
When he was finished cleaning her up, he carried her into the living room and sat her in the middle of the floor. He walked into the other room that had a whole box full of things that Adrian had kept at Blaine and Cooper's parents house, because 'you never know when your gonna need it'. He reached into the box and began to pull out toys when he heard a knock at the front door. When he walked into the room Lindsay was standing reaching up for the door knob trying to open the door.
"Don't do that Linds.." He picked her up and opened the door. "What are you doing here?"
"Are you not happy to see me?" Kurt smiled, standing in the doorway. His hair slowly sinking to his forehead because of the humidity outside, due to the fact that it was July. "Are you gonna let me in?"
"I don't know, guess I gotta ask this one?" he smiled down at Lindsay who was reaching out for Kurt to hold her. Kurt took her from Blaine's arms and she hugged his neck. "I'd take that as a yes.." Blaine smiled and stood aside from the door so Kurt could walk in. As Kurt passed by he kissed him on the cheek.
"Did Coop put you up to this? Coming here?"
"What would make you think that?" He smiled looking insincere.
"I thought so." He rolled his eyes "He doesn't realize that I can handle her.."
"Blaine, we both know you can handle her, he was just really nervous and coming here was the only thing that would shut him up..And don't pretend you don't love seeing me.." he smiled again, looking down at Lindsay who was beaming up at him showing him the stuffed rabbit she was holding proudly in her tiny hands.
"It's very pretty Linds.." he smiled when she clapped her hands at him.
Blaine leaned over and kissed Kurt on the lips "You're right.." he smiled. Kurt returned the kiss and leaned down to Lindsay. "Hey Linds, can you say uncle Blaine?"
She looked around the room like he hadn't said anything at all.
"Come on, I know you can.." Blaine smiled at her.
She looked around the room, back and forth between Kurt and Blaine she opened her mouth and a few babbles came out.
"Kurt!" She squealed.
Kurt looked over at Blaine "Did she just?" Blaine only nodded in response, his eyes wide.
"Kurt! Kurt! Kurt!" She bounced up and down each time she screamed the name.
