It was a warm autumn day when the American died. The sort of day where electricity seems to buzz in crackles and jolts through the air and through one's fingertips. An over-bearing, humid day, when boys with chestnut locks and wistful long eyelashes should be devouring brandy-snap icecreams instead of hanging bloody and maggot-ridden in a dirty foul-smelling shed.

And it was on that steamy autumn day, that another young man, no more than two metres away, gnarly from malnutritian, and staring through his own empty despairing eyes, was born anew. Awoken from a tortured existance, with neurons firing like the electric air and his heart enraged and jumping in unco-ordinated starts of fear and anger, his eyes darted from the gentle face of the young strung up man, to the door, and from the entangled guts that spilled out from the corpse to the that of the young man's expired family members.

He had to get out, and he had to get now! And as the pain and anguish washed over his body, he heard a howl of desperation and anger bellow from his lungs. He had finally been awoken, part animal, part human, and nothing would stop him now.
