“Stop staring.”
“I’m not.”
“You are.”
“Santana, my chair happens to be facing their bakery.”
“Then move.”
“Then I can’t see the shop door easiest.”
“Then go in the back and work on orders.”
“I can’t.”
“Jesus Christ Kurt,” Santana rolled her eyes. “Should I get you binoculars?”
“No!”
“All the staring and flirting…”
“I wasn’t flirting.”
“Sure,” She rolled her eyes. “He’s cute and single now. Just go out with him.”
“I don’t need a boyfriend!”
“Sweetie, it’s been so long since Trevor,” Santana sighed.
“Who’s Trevor?” Blaine’s voice startled Kurt enough to make him yelp and jump, nearly falling over as he spun around.
“I didn’t even see you come in!” He placed a hand over his heart and Blaine laughed.
“I didn’t mean to scare you!” He grinned. “But who is Trevor? Someone cute?”
Kurt had to hope that he saw a little bit of jealousy in Blaine’s eyes.
“An ex of mine,” Kurt shrugged.
“Well I’m pretty sure I’ve won the worst ex award,” Blaine’s smile widened. “Was he a douchebag? Was he sleeping around? Was he trying to steal your identity?”
“It’s a long story,” Kurt bit his lip.
“Oh come on, spill!”
“I don’t really feel comfortable talking about it!” Kurt sounded much more severe than he wanted and Blaine’s smile faded almost instantly.
“Oh…I’m sorry…”
Kurt noticed Santana quickly slipping off to the back.
“No, no,” Kurt sighed and rubbed his hands over his face. “I’m sorry…I just have had a rough day.”
“Well I know the cure for that!” Blaine lit up almost instantly and Kurt was reminded of an over eager puppy. “I’m bringing drinks and dinner to your place tonight for a movie night! Provide the dessert?”
“Oh I don’t know,” Kurt laughed. “I have a ton of paperwork…”
“Doesn’t matter. I’m coming over anyway,” Blaine bounced on the balls of his feet. “I hope you like leftovers!”
“Only the best for me right?” Kurt teased.
“Of course,” Blaine winked and handed over a cup of coffee. “Low fat mocha right?”
“That’s creepy,” Kurt took the cup. “You know my coffee order?”
“Of course,” Blaine scoffed and sipped at his coffee. “A little bird may have whispered to me that you needed it.”
With a final wave Blaine felt the shop and Santana stepped back in, pocketing her phone.
“What?” She raised her eyebrows.
Kurt rolled his eyes and glanced out the windows to see Sam staring intently at Elizabeth’s. When Sam noticed him he grinned and waved, pointing to a coffee cup in his own hand.
“The coffee is great Santana,” Kurt took another sip. “Thanks for letting Sam know.”
“I have no idea what you are talking about.”
The rest of the day Kurt was so distracted thinking about the night ahead that he messed up three orders and dropped a cake so he was banished to the back by Santana.
“Wear the sexy underwear!” Santana called up as he hurried up the stairs to change.
After frantic digging though his closet Kurt finally decided on tight black jeans and a red button up. He hesitated before cleaning up his bedroom and straightening the bed.
Well…that would be a best case scenario.
A knock at the door had him quickly checking his hair one more time before running to answer it.
“Grab the Tupperware!” Blaine called out as the gigantic Tupperware container of spaghetti and meatballs almost toppled over. “Thanks!”
“Spaghetti, nice,” Kurt smiled as Blaine walked in holding a box of hot garlic bread and several bottles of wine. “Come on in.”
Blaine shook the snow from his hair.
“God, it is really coming down out there!” He shivered and followed Kurt into the kitchen. “The storm is really picking up.”
“I was worried you would be buried as you were walking over.”
“Well, I’d fight a snow storm for you,” Blaine filled two bowls to the brim with spaghetti and meatballs before sticking them in the microwave and hit a few buttons.
Kurt ducked his head to hide his smile and cut up the bread, poured a few glasses of wine and set the table. Blaine placed the bowls on the table and pulled out Kurt’s chair getting a smile in return.
“You know, this is really good!” Kurt said around his first mouthful.
“Right! Spaghetti and meatballs are always better the second day,” Blaine grinned, sipping his wine. “That’s why I make enough for ten. Of course…I’ve kind of had to get used to cooking just for myself…”
“Right,” Kurt nodded sympathetically.
“Speaking of, will you tell me about Trevor?” Blaine looked at him hopefully.
“Why do you want to know so badly?” Kurt mumbled, taking a long drink of wine.
“Because I’m curious! You having some mystery man in your past is driving me crazy,” His eyes sparkled.
“Okay…Trevor and I started dating in high school. I was totally in love with him but he broke up with me right after senior year claiming I was too gay for him. What the hell does too gay mean? I guess I am a little too feminine,” Kurt sighed.
“He’s stupid. You’re very masculine,” A faint blush crawled up Blaine’s neck.
“No I’m not,” Kurt laughed. “But, I’ve become much more secure with who I am. I tried changing for him and we got back together. I was miserable and went back to who I was and the same thing happened. He dumped me and I begged for him to come back. It continued and continued until I finally realized that I was wasting my life on him.”
“He didn’t deserve you.”
“And Remy didn’t deserve you,” Kurt gave him a shy smile.
They finished dinner in companionable silence and walked side by side to the sink to wash up.
“For dessert I have some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies we can put in the oven,” Kurt pulled out a tray of cookies he had put in the fridge earlier and within minutes they were finishing a bottle of wine on the couch while eating hot cookies.
“So,” Blaine drew out the word, pouring himself more wine from their second bottle. “What was your New Years Resolution?”
“What?” Kurt raised his eyebrows.
“Your New Years Resolution? You know things like I’m going to be more organized or lose weight. Which you don’t need to do,” Blaine grinned lazily.
“I never thought of it,” Kurt leaned back and tapped his finger against the wine glass. “What’s yours?”
“I think…I think I am going to start doing things because I want to,” He said firmly after a long moment. “I’ve always done things to please other people and I think this year I’m finally going to be really happy.”
“I’ll cheers to that,” Kurt held up his wine glass and the glasses clinked. “No more getting in the way of our own happiness.”
“Yeah,” Blaine gave him a long look. “Hey Kurt?”
“Hmm?” Kurt finished his glass.
“So I may have had a lot of wine,” He chuckled and drank some more. “But I have something to confess.”
“I do love drunken confessions.”
“Remember Christmas when you put the mistletoe above the door?”
“I didn’t, my dad did,” Kurt pointed out.
“Regardless,” Blaine waved his hand dismissively. “So…I haven’t really been able to stop thinking about that.”
“My dad?” Kurt blinked.
“No! The kiss,” Blaine blushed. “I can’t stop thinking about the kiss.”
“Oh…”
“And stop me if I’m going too far,” He sat up. “But I want to do it again.”
Before Kurt could even think of a response Blaine was leaning forward and cupped Kurt’s cheek as he kissed him gently. The intense rush filled every cell of Kurt’s body and he scrambled to put his glass on the coffee table before returning the kiss, earning a happy moan from Blaine.
Blaine scrambled further forward until he was almost in Kurt’s lap, deepening the kiss by running his tongue along his lips.
“Okay,” Kurt took a deep, shaky breath and gently pushed Blaine back.
“What’s wrong?” Blaine blinked rapidly.
“Listen, you just got through a rough breakup and I’m finally getting over a bad relationship. We need to take this slow,” Kurt licked his lips and felt Blaine press slightly against his hands.
“I’m fine. If you’re worried about me or something I’m fine,” He gave him a smile.
“I don’t want to be a rebound,” Kurt blurted and Blaine sat back, eyes wide.
“Oh,” He hurried to take Kurt’s hand. “You’re not a rebound Kurt. Not at all.”
Kurt felt his chest clench.
“I like you,” Blaine let out a breath. “I like you a lot. You make me laugh and you make me feel like I can do anything.”
“But after Remy…”
“Remy used me and I did anything I could to make him happy without even thinking about what I wanted. I have fun when I’m with you. I feel like I’m finally happy,” His smile trembled a little. “I don’t mind waiting if that’s what you want but I don’t think these feeling are going away anytime soon.”
“You’re a dork.”
“That’s what you say in the middle of my heart felt speech?” Blaine gasped but a grin spread across his face anyway.
“Okay.”
“Okay?” Blaine looked confused.
“Okay let’s try this,” Kurt smiled and gave him a quick, chaste kiss.
“Was it my charm that won you over?” Blaine laughed.
“Something like that,” Kurt pushed his shoulder before yawning. “Damn, that wine kicked in.”
“Yeah, I should probably go home,” Blaine sighed, kissing him again before standing. “Oh damn.”
Kurt glanced out the window to see white.
“You shouldn’t go out in that! You could slip on it and die,” Kurt frowned as the storm howled outside.
“It’s not that far,” Blaine shrugged. “Besides, you’re the one who has the bad history with ice.”
“I’m not letting you wander through a snow storm while tipsy. Just sleep here,” Kurt nodded and Blaine’s eyebrows shot up.
“Sleep here?”
“Yeah, it’s no problem,” Kurt shrugged. “It’ll make me feel better.”
Blaine stumbled slightly as he walked back from the front door.
“Okay…well…I can take the couch,” He rubbed the back of his neck.
“Don’t be stupid. You are my guest, take the bed.”
“Well I invited myself over,” Blaine laughed. “That still make me a guest?”
“Take the bed.”
“No.”
“Well I’m not letting you sleep on the couch,” Kurt put his hands on his hips.
“Let’s share the bed,” Blaine said and it was Kurt’s turned to sputter.
“What?”
“We’re adults. We can share a bed without getting handsy,” Blaine wiggled his fingers in front of Kurt’s face. “We’ll keep our clothes on and everything.”
“And no hands below the equator.”
“Absolutely,” Blaine nodded. “I might need to borrow pajamas though.”
“Fine,” Kurt threw his hands up. “Come on, I’ll grab you some.”
He handed Blaine a soft grey long sleeved shirt and plaid pajama pants. As soon as the other man was in the bathroom he quickly changed into similar pajamas, ready as soon as Blaine stepped out.
“They’re a little big,” Blaine sighed. The pants fell past his toes and the sleeves touched his fingertips.
“It’s adorable,” Kurt laughed.
Blaine responded by pushing him back onto the bed and kissing him firmly. They both just enjoyed lazily making out for a few long minutes before Blaine pulled back and flopped onto the bed.
“So we should probably go to bed,” Blaine sighed.
“We’re taking it slow.”
“Yup, slow,” He nodded.
“It’ll be good,” Kurt pulled the heavy comforter over the two of them.
“Slow is stupid.”
“Blaine,” Kurt slapped him in the chest and got a yelp in response. “Slow.”
“Yup.”
Kurt couldn’t stop smiling as he turned off the lights. At first they lay side by side, awkward. Then they moved towards each other and twines their legs together. With a final quick kiss they fell sleep wrapped up in each other’s arms.

Ok, maybe it's just me but sleeping together entwined like that is more intimate than sex...just saying. I always had to really be involved with someone to stay the whole night. However, I am glad they're making progress. Even if it is S-L-O-W....
