“I know you’re mad at me,” Santana cornered him in the kitchen.

“You have no idea how mad I am,” Kurt spat.

“You were the one who took the pictures. You baked the cupcakes,” Santana growled. “You used to be a cut throat bitch who took no shit from no one. The Kurt Hummel I have known from high school was willing to take no prisoners as long as he got what he wanted. What changed? A cute face? A pretty boy who is funny and oh so sweet? Put your priorities in order. What is more important, your crush or you and your mom’s dream?”

“What’s important is my integrity. He was right, my mother would be disgusted in me,” His voice cracked.

“Kurt…”

“What we did was wrong and you know it,” He snapped back and walked back into the shop, grabbing the tray of sangria cupcakes and dumping them in the trashcan.

With a deep breath, he jogged through the snow into Supercakes which was empty. Blaine glanced up and scowled at him.

“I need to talk to you,” Kurt took a few steps forward.

“Sir, I’m going to have to ask you to leave,” He replied coldly.

“Blaine please, I want to apologize,” Kurt sighed.

“As a business owner I have the right to refuse business to anyone I see fit,” His voice was airy. “And I refuse business to thieves and lowlifes.”

“I am so sorry.”

“Also, as property owner I have the right to kick out any trespassers. You need to leave.”

The icy stare chilled Kurt to his bones and since he couldn’t think of anything else to say he slowly started walking out.

“I am really sorry,” He said softly before he walked out.

“So you said,” Blaine’s voice was tight and he hurried back to Elizabeth’s.

“You’ve always been a bitch but you went too far,” Kurt snapped as soon as he walked in.

“You were the one who did it! I never forced you,” Santana snarled back. “Don’t take out your anger on me when you’re just pissed at yourself.”

Furious, Kurt went into the kitchen and shredded the papers he had written Blaine’s recipe on. He sunk into a chair and buried his face into his hands. Maybe it was just a fantasy that Blaine would come to his senses, leave Remy, and fall into his arms but no there was absolutely no chance.

He had destroyed that chance along with any chance of them ever even being friends.

Unwilling to even look at Santana or see Supercakes through the window he stayed in the kitchen and worked on orders. The entire time he decorated the wedding cake his heart was heavy.

The cake came out absolutely beautifully but didn’t manage to cheer him up at all.

Around the end of the day Santana came back and put a cupcake in front of him, his favorite vanilla with chocolate frosting.

“You can’t really apologize by bringing me a cupcake that I bought ingredients for with my money and I baked,” Kurt mumbled.

Santana hesitated and nudged it closer to him.

“I’m going for the day,” She said quickly. “Think you can handle this last hour on your own?”

“Just go,” He sighed but the earlier venom was gone.

She smiled slightly and walked out the back door. Kurt brushed his floury hands off on his apron and wandered out just in time for a young woman to walk in.

“Hi!” She smiled brightly. “I was wanting to ask about getting a cake made for my husband and I’s fifth anniversary.”

“Of course!” Kurt plastered on a fake smile. “What were you thinking about?”

“Well, we’re going to have a party of about one hundred people,” She pulled out several sheets. “I’m Jenny by the way.”

“I’m Kurt, the owner, it’s nice to meet you,” He shook her hand.

“We wanted a sheet cake in chocolate with the raspberry filling you know? It’s my favorite,” Her eyes lit up. “I’m just so excited!”

“I can absolutely do that,” Kurt laughed and wrote it down.

“Also, in our wedding pictures we held his little sign that said our names, the date and just married. Can you replicate it?” She squealed when he nodded. “Thank you! It was just so romantic and this is a surprise for him.”

“That’s very nice of you.”

“Well I love him more than anything,” Kurt felt his heart drop at the obvious adoration in her eyes since it just reminded him of his bad mood.

“Do you have a picture of the sign so I can copy it?” She dug through the papers and handed over a picture.

He looked down at it and his breath caught in his throat.

The picture certainly was romantic. The new couple was kissing and smiling, clearly happy, and holding up a little wooden sign. It was the names that first caught his attention.

Remy & Jenny

The groom was the same classically handsome, charming man Kurt had dinner with just last night.

“Um…your husband?” His voice was soft.

“Don’t worry, he wont suspect a thing,” Jenny laughed. “He travels for work all the time. He’s probably only sleeping at home half the year.”

Kurt could feel his face draining of blood.

“And it’s your…fifth anniversary?”

“Five years!”

“Ah…that’s…nice,” His mind was racing. “Well, I will put this on order and let you know if I have any questions.”

“Thanks so much!” Jenny shook his hand and left, leaving him staring down at the picture.

Did Blaine have any idea Remy was married?

Did he care?

Did Kurt have the right to tell anyone?

His hands were shaking slightly and he ran them through his hair. Blaine had the right to know. He was so clearly in love with Remy and for him to continue throwing his life away wasn’t fair.

He had to tell Blaine, spare him the pain of finding out another way.

Kurt basically sprinted to the front door and locked it behind him before he ran to Supercakes.

“Hey!” Blaine shouted angrily, looking up from where he was closing the register. “I told you that you weren’t welcome anymore.”

“I know! I know!” Kurt raised his hand, the picture of Remy and Jenny burning in his pocket. “I need to tell you something.”

“I don’t want to hear anything you have to say.”

Sam wandered out, hearing the shouting, and narrowed his eyes at Kurt.

“I need to talk to you,” Kurt tried again.

“Get out or I am calling the police,” Blaine was almost trembling with rage.

“Please Blaine!”

“Enough!” Sam walked forward as Blaine ducked into the kitchen and grabbed Kurt’s arm, pulling him out of the shop. “Leave him alone.”

“Sam please, It’s about Remy,” Kurt tried but Sam laughed harshly.

“Kurt this is seriously the worst attempt at wooing someone I have every seen,” He snapped. “Anyone with eyes can see that you have a crush on him. Then you steal from us and try to push Remy and him apart? I don’t even understand how it could have worked!”

“Listen to me! I know you hate Remy too,” Kurt stumbled back as Sam pushed him.

“Get away from here Kurt. Leave Blaine alone,” Sam spun on his heel and left Kurt standing in the dirty slush, gripping the picture.

This was really good. I am glad that Blaine and Sam are treating Kurt the way that they are because he needs to realize that feeling bad about something doesn't make it right. He also needs to learn that listening to Santana is smart. I was surprised at how harshly Sam reacted though, I expected him to at least listen. I can't wait to see what happens next and to see if Kurt is finally able to tell Blaine about Remy.
