“Okay,” Finn took a step back until he was pressed against the door and held up his hands. “Listen Blaine, you’re sick. How about we go back to my house and get you some help.”
“I don’t need help,” Blaine laughed loudly. “And I’m not Blaine.”
Biting his lip, Finn shoved the other boy to the side and tried to sprint away. He made it a few steps before something heavy slammed into him and made him crash into the wall painfully.
He gasped for air and looked around for what hit him. Blaine was still standing and facing the door, looking like he hadn’t moved at all. Panicked, Finn sat up and looked around the room, breath fogging in front of his face.
“Blaine,” He gasped. “Stop this, please just…”
“Hush,” The other boy turned to look at him and started walking slowly towards him. A faint scraping sound made the hair on the back of Finn’s neck stand up and he scrambled backwards.
With a snarl, Blaine leapt on him. The boys wrestled and for a moment Finn was actually afraid he was going to lose. Panic spurred him on and he kicked Blaine hard enough in the stomach that he stumbled into an open guest room. The older boy slammed the door shut and held it closed.
“Open the fucking door!” Blaine snapped, slamming into the door so hard that it made a cracking noise and shook violently. “Open the door Finn. Open it now.”
Breathing hard, Finn pressed himself against the door with all his strength and closed his eyes. The violent hits came almost constantly, Blaine spitting curses and insults.
Then it went completely silent.
Finn held his breath, trembling, and pressed his ear against the door. The sharp sound of glass breaking and a cry of pain startled him into yanking the door open. Blaine was crouched on the floor, digging a large shard of a broken mirror into his wrists.
“Fuck!” Finn leapt at him and grabbed his wrists. “No! Stop!”
“Let go!” Blaine wailed.
“I’m not going to let you kill yourself,” Finn struggled to keep his grip as his hands grew slippery with blood.
For a split second, Blaine’s eyes widened and pure terror flooded through them. As soon as it came it passed and his expression went dark and twisted before he began to thrash.
Blaine pulled his legs up and kicked both feet deep into Finn’s gut, making him cry out. He spun around and grabbed the older boy’s throat, squeezing tightly. Finn scratched at his hands and moved one hand up to grab Blaine’s jaw. He snarled and dug his teeth into Finn’s palm making him howl in pain.
Without another thought, Finn slammed Blaine’s head down onto the hardwood floor. The smaller boy let out a sharp yelp and went limp.
Panting, Finn grabbed his phone and dialed Kurt’s number, scrambling away from the unconscious teenager.
“Finn!” Kurt snapped angrily. “Where the hell are you? Where is Blaine?”
“Jesus fucking Christ Kurt,” He gasped, keeping his voice down. “I drove him to his house and he went fucking crazy. He tried to kill me Kurt…God he was going to kill me.”
“We’re on our way,” Kurt shouted something to Cooper and he could hear them running to the car. “Where is he now?”
“I…may have smashed his head into the floor…” Finn winced at the blood seeping from around Blaine's head. Panicked, he ran to the closet and pulled out some old neckties. “I’m going to tie him up before he wakes up.”
“What do you mean?” Kurt asked, worried.
“I knocked him out,” Finn felt guilty as he looked down at the other boy. “I don’t…I’m sorry Kurt but he was just crazy.”
“It’s okay Finn,” He sighed. “We’re pulling into the driveway now.”
“He said he wasn’t Blaine…” Finn whispered, standing at the other side of the room and staring at Blaine who’s wrists were tied to the leg of the bed.
The front door burst open and both Cooper and Kurt stumbled in, wide eyed and pale. Finn waved them into the room and Cooper winced, looking down at his feet when he saw the smears of blood on the walls and floor.
“Should I call the police?” Finn asked shakily.
“No,” Kurt whispered. “Don’t call them.”
A soft moan made all of them jump and spin to look at Blaine. His face scrunched in pain for a moment before his eyes flew open.
“Oh God,” He breathed, eyes bright with horror. “Oh God, oh God.”
“Blaine?’ Cooper whispered.
“Please, please,” He started yanking on his bindings, making his wrists bleed. “Fuck let me go! He’s coming oh my God. Don’t let him get me.”
His body shook with sobs and he began to shriek hysterically. Kurt let out a whimper and jumped at him when Blaine began to yank at his wrists.
“Sweetheart please,” He whispered as he gently took Blaine’s chin and turned his wide eyes towards him. “Please stay with me.”
“He’s here,” Blaine eyes flicked back and forth, whimpering. “Help me Kurt, please help me.”
“I love you Blaine,” Kurt gently squeezed his shoulder. “You’ll be okay. You have to fight it.”
For a moment Blaine’s breathing quickened and his eyes glazed before he fell limp. Kurt tightened his hand and fought back tears as his boyfriend’s eyes slid up to him.
“Blaine?” He breathed.
“Well…this is a familiar position,” His voice was smooth and cold. With a hiss, Kurt yanked his hand back and moved to where Cooper and Finn were standing. “If you really wanted me tied up to a bed all you had to do was ask. Remind you of that one night Kurt?”
“Shut up,” Kurt’s ears burned red as Blaine forced himself into a seated position.
“Mmm that’s what you said then as well,” He flexed his arms and pulled on the bonds. “I’ll admit Finn, I’m impressed with your knot tying skills.”
“Enough of this,” Cooper spoke up, glaring. “You need to leave now. Get out of my brother.”
“No.”
When the other three fell silent Blaine grinned widely. He stretched his legs out in front of him and leaned back against the bed.
“Was that your whole plan?” Kurt hissed and Cooper turned wide eyes to him.
“What the fuck is going on?” Finn suddenly shouted.
“They haven’t told you?” Blaine said smoothly, wide smile spreading across his face. “I’ve killed people Finn.”
“…huh?” Finn went pale and stepped back, looking at everyone in the room.
“Blaine hasn’t killed anyone,” Cooper snarled.
“Remember Paranormal Activity?” Kurt whispered to his stepbrother who’s eyes widened. “It’s like that.”
“Oh shit,” Finn shook his head. “That movie did not end so good.”
“It never does,” Blaine sighed. “It wont end well for Blaine either just like the kid before him, and the kid before him, and the kid before him, and…”
“Shut up!” Cooper turned to him, eyes blazing.
“Why?” Kurt asked softly. “Why kill them?”
“Because it is fun,” Blaine sighed. “It’s fun to creep into their dreams and feel their terror. It’s fun to feel their despair when everyone turns away from them. It’s fun to watch as their mind withers and decays until all that is left is the fear. Killing their physical body is just the icing on the cake. Some fight more than others but they all die. They all die alone and terrified.”
“Blaine isn’t alone,” Kurt crouched down in front of him.
“But he is,” He shrugged. “He’s weak and he’s scared.”
“Blaine is strong,” Kurt argued back and got a loud laugh in return.
“Because you’ve known him for so long,” Blaine sneered, the expression looking strange on his face. “You didn’t see him when he was younger. When big brother left and mom and dad avoided him after he told everyone that he was a disgusting fag. That’s when I met him. That’s when I saw the desire. He wanted to die. I’m only giving him what he wants. You should be thanking me.”
The guilt in Cooper’s eyes struck Kurt and he swallowed heavily.
“We’re here now,” Kurt looked at him, not seeing his boyfriend at all in those cold eyes. “Blaine is the strongest, most amazing person I know and you are going to lose. You can’t have him.”
Blaine raised both eyebrows and smirked.
“What makes you think I haven’t already killed him?” He cocked his head to the side. “And his body is just a shell…a puppet for me to use until I decide to end its miserable existence?”
“We spoke to him asshole,” Finn growled.
He looked surprised for a moment before pulling back on the mask of self assuredness.
“I did think the carbon monoxide poisoning was a little fast,” He sighed, leaning back again. “It’s a little after my time you know but I wanted to experiment a little. Other ways of doing it are fun but get old. Watching someone spasm on the end of the noose or watch their brain splatter across a wall…it’s a thrill.”
“Fuck you,” Cooper growled.
Blaine snorted and laughed sharply, voice strangely pitched. He grinned widely around the room and leaned back further.
“Let him go now,” Kurt snapped, grabbing Blaine’s face roughly. “I love you Blaine. I’m here for you. You must fight, you have to.”
“He can’t hear you,” He said in a sing song voice.
“Please Blaine,” Kurt whispered, ignoring him. “I love you so much. We care for you so much just please…please fight him.”
“So sweet,” A slow smile spread across his face.
“I AM NOT FUCKING TALKING TO YOU!” Kurt screamed. “I know it hurts Blaine and I know you’re scared. I’m scared. Everyone is scared but please don’t give up. Fight for us.”
After a moment of nothing, Blaine’s eyes widened and his body stiffened.
“Honey?” Kurt asked, panicked. “Blaine?”
Both Cooper and Finn hurried over to them but Blaine continued just staring straight ahead at nothing.
“Blaine?” Cooper asked softly. “Talk to us.”
He said nothing.
