He dropped the axe on the floor, watching it fall into the pool of blood right next to his motionless son.
With a shuddering breath, he laughed. Franklin leaned over and rested his hands on his knees as he just laughed and laughed.
Finally.
Finally they were gone. For years he had spent so many sleepless nights just planning it. He had fantasized how they would stare at him in complete terror. He had dreamed about how they would beg for their pathetic lives. He had imagined how it would feel for the blood to run through his fingers.
It was so much better than he had ever imagined.
The screams echoed in his head like the most beautiful music. He found himself smiling as he walked through the quiet house.
“Blaine,” A soft voice startled him and it felt like he had been sucked out of his body. He stumbled backwards and saw Franklin walk on without him. He let out a long shaky breath and turned around.
William was standing behind him, leaving what looked like a gory snow angel. His side was ripped open, spilling organs all over the floor and his neck was completely sliced open.
“God,” Blaine gasped and staggered backwards.
“It’s okay,” William smiled, an expression that looked completely out of place among the gore covering his entire body. “It’s been a long time.”
“It shouldn’t have happened at all,” Blaine said sadly, trying to look anywhere else but at William.
“No,” The boy shrugged, side making a horrid noise as it moved. “I should not have been killed that is true.”
“Aren’t you angry?” Blaine asked, finally looking up at those warm eyes.
“Of course I am. I was only sixteen years old. I had planned on becoming a concert violinist and I was incredibly talented. I was going to perform with the best orchestras all over the world. I was going to settle down with a woman I loved and have children. That was all taken away from me,” William’s eyes flashed. “But it has been over one hundred years and I am dead. Those things will never come to pass. But you, you are alive. You have dreams. You have a man who you love more than anything. I wasn’t able to help the others but I wont let him get you. I want you to live your life and die an old man warm in bed.”
“What can I do?” Blaine sighed.
“You’ve already done more,” William took a step closer. “He hasn’t taken over you since that night has he? You’ve kicked him out of your head. You’ve made him angry.”
“He’s hurting my family now.”
“He killed my mother and I wasn’t able to do anything,” William’s face hardened and he stiffened. “It’ll get worse before it gets better.”
“But how do I stop him?” Blaine was getting desperate.
“Look around,” William placed a hand on his shoulder and turned him around.
Blaine could see the horrible blood splatter from the third step up where the axe had caught William. He saw how Franklin was standing near the fireplace, fiddling with his pocket watch. He saw the shotgun Franklin was reaching for.
“What am I looking for?” He breathed.
“You’ve seen it,” William squeezed his shoulders tightly as the shotgun went off and Franklin’s head splattered the wall.
With a heavy gasp, Blaine jerked awake. His side burned with pain and for a long moment he couldn’t even breathe.
“Blaine!” Cooper grabbed his shoulder and shook him awake. The older brother’s eyes were wide and he had to hold down the panicked Blaine. “You’re okay. It was a nightmare. It was just a nightmare.”
With a heaving gasp Blaine sat up and shivered.
“Did…did you see something?”
“I don’t know,” Blaine sighed, running a hand through his hair again and again.
After they both decided they couldn’t go back to sleep they sat up playing video games for several hours. Cooper laughed as he beat his brother by a narrow margin in Mario Kart when he got a phone call.
“Hello?” He answered his phone as he raised a fist in victory. “What? Damn, they’re in my car. Right now? Okay. Fine.”
“What’s the matter?” Blaine asked.
“I totally forgot to turn in my grading sheets,” He sighed. “They’re due by noon. Fuck! I’m sorry but I have to go drive them to the school.”
“You’re leaving me here?” Blaine’s eyes widened.
“Call Kurt and get him here. I’ll be back in half an hour I promise,” Cooper handed Blaine his phone.
It didn’t take much convincing for Kurt to run over, bringing along movies and snacks. He kissed Blaine as soon as he got into Cooper’s room and gave Cooper a wide grin.
“You can take your time if you want,” Kurt waved Cooper out and as soon as the door closed kissed his boyfriend slow and deep.
“Well hi!” Blaine grinned when they separated.
“Hi,” Kurt laughed and kissed him again. “Let’s cuddle and put a movie in.”
They settled on the bed and started the worn copy of Fiddler on the Roof. A smile spread across Blaine’s face and he snuggled back into his boyfriend’s arms.
“This is nice,” Kurt whispered halfway through the movie.
“It is,” Blaine agreed, closing his eyes as Kurt dropped his hand onto his hip. His hand tightened slightly and started rubbing soothingly.
“Kurt?” He asked as the hand started drifting more towards the front of his pajama pants, slipping in the waistband. “Honey?”
“Shh,” Kurt’s hands grew more insistent. “We’re alone. Let’s have some fun.”
Blaine let out a sharp gasp and Kurt jerked him back against his pelvis.
“What are you doing?” He hissed.
“Come on baby,” Kurt’s lips dragged along his neck and he nipped at his ear. “Let me make you scream.”
“Kurt, cut it out.”
“Hush,” Kurt’s lips curled into a smirk and Blaine jerked forward, away from his hands.
“What the fuck!” He spat, trying to get away from Kurt as quickly as possible. “Kurt?”
“Sorry honey,” Kurt drew out the word and stood up. “Not Kurt.”
“Get out of him,” Blaine stood, grabbing his side. “Get the fuck out of my boyfriend.”
Kurt cocked his head to the side and grinned. He took several slow steps forward and hummed to himself until he was hovering over the smaller boy.
“I’ll admit,” He sighed. “No one has ever gotten this far. You were supposed to just die and I was supposed to move on to the next boy. This can be okay though. Can you imagine the headline? Lima gay teen murders boyfriend then kills himself. It has a certain ring to it. Plus I get to kill two birds with one stone.”
“Fuck you,” Blaine snarled.
“Imagine how devastated poor Kurt will be when he finds out that he has brutally murdered the love of his life,” His eyes lit up and he looked dreamy for a moment.
“I did nothing to bring this on,” Blaine’s voice shook with barely controlled fury. “All of this shit happened because you are a sick fuck who wants to spend eternity murdering innocent people.”
“No one is innocent.”
“Kurt is!” Blaine screamed. “I have spent hours upon hours trying to figure out what the fuck I did. Maybe I did some small slight to my family, friends or society. But Kurt is the most amazing person. He doesn’t deserve your shit and I wont let you hurt him.”
“Because you’ve done such a good job before,” Kurt laughed loudly.
“I saw you fucking burn you monster. I heard your screams and saw you go up in flames. I wont stop until I see that happen again,” Blaine snarled darkly. “You’ve hurt my boyfriend and now I’m down with you. I’m going to fucking kill you.”
“You’re very cute,” Kurt smirked at him, straightening up so he towered over Blaine. “So very cute.”
