Blaine was bored.
School had started up again but Blaine wasn’t able to go back. He was doing some online work and trying to keep up on homework. His parents and Cooper had to go back to work but thankfully his brother decided to stay at home and just make a longer drive to work.
“Hi Blaine!” Mike called from the front door as he walked in. “I have the massive pile of work for you!”
“Come on in,” Blaine swung his feet over the side of the couch, wincing as it pulled at his stitches. “Is it really that bad?”
“It’s a lot of trig and chemistry,” Mike laughed as he plopped down in the armchair next to him. “Lucky for you, even though you hate them, I am awesome at them.”
“You are awesome man,” Blaine grinned at his friend.
“Can…can I see your scar?” He asked with wide eyes getting a smile in return. “If that’s okay…I mean…”
Blaine rolled his eyes and shifted so he could pull up the side of his shirt. There was an angry red scar running from below his belly button all the way up to the bottom of his shoulder blade on his back.
“Jesus Christ!” Mike gasped, jaw dropping open. “That’s horrible. Wow.”
“Pretty badass right?” Blaine looked down. “Hurts like hell but I’m on so many painkillers I can’t even feel it. There’s a possibility that you’re just a hallucination.”
“I’m very real,” Mike laughed, leaning closer. “Goddamn. Did they find the guys who did it?”
“Oh…no they didn’t,” Instantly the mood changed and Blaine dropped his shirt down.
“We were all in shock,” Mike said softly. “Mr. Shue told us that you had been hurt in a home invasion and it seemed liked some horrible news story. Rachel begged to come to your house when you got out and wanted to sing ‘Without You’ from Rent but we thought…it was a bit extreme.”
“I really appreciate it,” Blaine smiled at him. “I really want to come back to school and see everyone. Seriously, the best part of my day is when someone brings my homework to me. Other than that it’s reruns of Full House.”
“Well we can start the party off with animal cell mitosis if you want?” Mike laughed.
“Hooray,” Blaine grabbed his textbook and they started studying.
A few hours later Mike left with a small pile of finished homework to give back to teachers. He lay back down, frustrated and exhausted from his short visit. The stress of the past few weeks was constantly weighing on him and all he wanted was for his life to go back to normal.
“Done with homework?” Tricia asked, walking into the room.
“Yeah, I have an online quiz tomorrow so I’m going to study a bit,” He flipped through his text book.
“You could just spend the rest of the year focusing on getting better,” She kissed him on the top of the head. “You went through something traumatic. It takes time to get over.”
“I just don’t want to get held back a year,” He sighed. “I cant let Kurt be alone in New York by himself for longer than he should be.”
A sudden rush of cold air made the hair on the back of his neck stand up and his mother straightened up, eyes narrowing.
“You’re working yourself to death because of a boy?” She asked sharply. “Really Blaine? That’s what your life is going to be?”
“Mom…” He whispered, shrinking back.
“No,” She held her hands up and her face twisted in anger. “I’m so tired of this. You follow Kurt around like a lap dog. That’s what you’re going to be for the rest of your life you know? First that boy tells you to follow you to New York and you agree. What next? You’re going to become that boy’s fuck toy whore.”
“Mom!”
“Maybe that’s what you want. You want to just spend your life spreading your legs or getting on your knees for him,” She spat, eyes narrowed.
Tears streamed down his face and he snatched up his phone before hurrying out the front door. Hands shaking, he called Cooper and shivered on the snowy porch.
“Hey bro, I’m giving a test right now,” Cooper said quickly. “Can I call you back?”
“I can’t, I can’t,” Blaine sobbed harshly into the phone. “Cooper it’s mom she’s…something’s wrong. It’s still here.”
“Okay, let me get another teacher and I will come over,” Cooper soothed, sounding panicked. “It’ll be okay.”
“Don’t come!” Blaine shouted. “Cooper it is still here. It’s not just me any more. Remember how I used to say these horrible things without knowing? It is in mom. She said…things.”
“God Blaine, are you sure?”
“I’m scared,” He whimpered.
“Where is she now?”
“Um,” Blaine peeked through the window and swallowed. “She’s just standing there.”
“Do you want me to come get you?” Cooper asked, worried.
“They’ll ask questions and they will put me in a mental institution,” Blaine hissed into the phone. “I don’t know what to do.”
“Fuck it, I’m coming Blaine.”
“It’ll get you too. It’ll get you too and you’ll start doing this to me,” Blaine was shaking hard from a combination of cold and fear.
“Fuck Blaine are you outside?” Cooper gasped, hearing the tremor in his voice. “Get inside right now! You’re going to get yourself killed.”
“That….that thing isn’t going to stop!” Blaine sobbed so hard it was difficult to understand him. “It’s going to keep doing this until I fucking kill myself! I can’t handle the people I love saying and doing these things.”
“What did she say?”
“That…that I was only following Kurt to New York because I’m his whore,” Blaine spat. “That I’m going to spend the rest of my life being nothing more than a fuck toy.”
“Okay…you have to leave,” Cooper sounded determined.
“He’ll follow me,” Blaine moaned, leaning against the wall. “What if he hurts mom and dad? I wouldn’t be able to live with that.”
“I don’t know what to do Blaine,” Cooper sighed. “We can try calling a priest or something?”
“Because we are avid churchgoers,” Blaine snapped into the phone. “Plus how do we explain that to our parents? Hey mom and dad I know we’re not religious and nothing is wrong but can we do an exorcism?”
“Yeah that does sound a little strange,” Cooper mumbled. “I don’t know Blaine. What else can you do? Burn sage and throw rock salt?”
“Maybe I’ll try talking to him.”
“Don’t you fucking dare! Do not talk to that monster,” Cooper snarled. “Promise me you wont.”
“I wont,” Blaine shook his head.
“Seriously Blaine, you are going to make this worse,” He warned. “I would feel so much better if I were there for you.”
“I don’t want it to get you,” Blaine sighed.
“Fuck…I don’t want to hurt you,” The frustration was obvious. “I’m aware of it. I know it’s here so I can fight it. Please let me come.”
“I need you here Cooper,” Blaine whimpered.
“Okay. I’ll come,” Cooper let out a long breath. “Give me a hour.”
“Hurry Coop.”
He crept back into the house and as soon as the door clicked shut his mother jumped. She gasped loudly at the sight of Blaine pale and shivering.
“Oh my God!” She snatched a blanket off the couch and wrapped it around his shoulders. “What were you doing outside? What were you thinking?”
“Sorry,” His teeth chattered.
“Let me get you some hot chocolate,” She seemed so much like her old self that Blaine had to hope the spirit was gone. He still didn’t touch the hot chocolate when she placed it on the coffee table.
Cooper arrived around dinner time, giving his parents still hugs. They ate their dinner in the living room in complete silence, Cooper sitting close to his brother.
“Want to watch movies in my room?” Cooper asked as he helped gather up the plates.
“I’d rather Blaine not go up and down the stairs,” Charles said. “I’d rather if he were down here so we could keep an eye on him.”
“I’m not a baby,” Blaine muttered. “I can take care of myself.”
“Like you did when those guys carved you up?” Charles snapped.
“Dad!” Cooper glared.
“What?” He turned to glare at his oldest son. “It’s obvious he can’t take care of himself. First that dance where he get the shit beaten out of him and now with these men trying to chop him to bits?”
“This is what it’s been like!” Blaine hissed, getting a glare.
“Maybe it’s a sign?” Charles snapped. “No one goes through that much shit for nothing. Maybe you need to get taken care of forever.”
“Let’s go,” Cooper grabbed his arm and tugged him up the stairs, followed by the hateful words from his parents.
As soon as the door shut Blaine doubled over, partly in pain from his side and partly from the overwhelming emotions. He sobbed harshly and Cooper locked the door before moving Blaine to sit on the bed.
“This is worse,” Blaine sobbed, covering his face with his hands. “I cant stand this much longer. I cant have my fucking parents say these things to me.”
Cooper hugged his shoulders tightly and let him cry himself out. Soon Blaine was leaning completely against him, face wet and eyes red.
“I can’t have him hurting the people I love,” He whispered. “It was supposed to be my fight. It was supposed to only hurt me and now its hurting everyone. Do you have any heavy painkillers?”
“Fuck Blaine, we’ve talked about this,” Cooper snapped, tightening his hold on his brother.
“Hear me out,” Blaine sat up, eyes bright with tears. “It wants me and I refuse to have that…that monster kill me. I want to die on my own terms and I don’t want my family to get hurt. Please Cooper, let me do this.”
“No.”
A crash sounded outside of the door and the handle shook violently.
“Please Cooper please!” Blaine grabbed his shirt. “If you love me at all. If you truly are my brother you will let me do this. Let me have this. I’ve been through hell in my life and I at least want a say in my death. Please Coop. Please, please, please, please, please.”
He dissolved into sobs again, twisting Cooper’s shirt in his hands.
“No Blaine,” Cooper shook his head, tears running down his eyes as well and he pulled Blaine closer to him as the banging continued on the door. “I love you. You are my baby brother and I love you so much. I’m not going to let you kill yourself and I am certainly not going to help you.”
“Cooper.”
“No, we will get past this. I don’t want you to think about that any more. That is NOT an option for getting out of this,” Cooper shook him slightly. “Don’t you ever fucking ask me to do that to you Blaine because I don’t know…I don’t know what I would do if you died.”
Tears streamed down his face and he held tightly onto his bother, feeling him shake.
“It’ll be okay.”
“What if it’s not?” Blaine whispered against his chest and Cooper just swallowed, not sure what to say .
Comments
please please PLEASE do not kill Blaine! I don't know how I would cope if he died. When I first started reading this story from the bit of information at the start I thought it was a ghost!Kurt story and obviously it wasn't and I became strangly addicted. This isn't the kind of story I read but I am weirdly enjoying it. I can't wait to see how the story plays out. But it is your storyline if you do kill Blaine it is your choice, I will just be upset although for some reason I am seeing Cooper trying to take his place maybe? I am probably completely wrong but you know. Sorry for the long weird review. This story is really good!
Damn now his parents this is just crazy but I can't stop reading it. When his mom said that I was like 'WHAT THE FUCKKK' Because she and her husband learned to except him and like Kurt and she said that and now his dad :/ And Blaine wanting to kill himself HELL TO THE NO! I am glad he has Cooper there to tell him he can't do that
