Blaine winced as he gingerly prodded his injured eye. He turned an accusing glare at Sam.

"Did you have to hit the face?" he questioned.

Sam simply shrugged. "Not my fault your face was where my fist was."

Blaine sighed and decided to drop it. The two of them had been walking for ten minutes now, on their way back to the hotel. Blaine was still unsure if he should be bringing Sam back to his temporary home. After all, he knew next to nothing about the other man except that he was supposedly working for Burt to protect Kurt.

Sam hadn't said much, just that he was on Blaine's side and would explain everything once they were alone. Blaine didn't know how much of that was true, if any. Never the less, he hadn't tried to stab him or push him into the path of a speeding car yet, so that was a good sign. This didn't mean that Blaine didn't feel any less wary around Sam then he did before. He had been taught to trust no one, after all.

After another few minutes of silent walking, they finally arrived outside the doors of the Rozwalt hotel. Blaine entered quickly, giving Rory a small wave and leading Sam to the elevator. Needless to say, Blaine was now very cautious of elevators and wanted nothing more than to never have to step foot in another one as long as he lived. But when your room was on the top floor of a one hundred metre high building, they were necessary.

The loud ding! signalled there arrival and Blaine let out an involuntary sigh of relief, scrambling to get out of the murder trap. He approached the door of the pent house, very aware of Sam's presence and knocked on the door once before opening it and stepping in.

Santana was lounging on the sofa, her feet propped up on the arm rest, as she watched T.V. She turned her head at the sound of the front door opening.

"Hey, Curly fry. 'Bout time you got back," she called out. "I need to talk to you about-"

She stopped short when she saw Blaine wasn't alone. Sam gave her a smile in greeting but Santana just narrowed her eyes suspiciously at the man before her.

"What is Fabio and Kelly Slater's love child doing here?" she asked snakily.

Sam blinked at that but Blaine quickly cut in before anything else could be said.

"Sam is here to help," Blaine siad, glaring pointedly at Santana.

At that moment, Santana's eyes widened and swept over Blaine's body and he realised she was just taking in his dishevelled appearance.

"What the hell happened to your eye!?" she demanded, swinging her feet to the floor and stomping over to the two of them, staring at the purpling bruise around his eye socket.

Blaine turned his head away when Santana reached for his chin.

"We just had a little…misunderstanding," Blaine tried to explain, his eyes darting to Sam.

Santana turned a vicious glare at the blonde boy. "Well, I'm about to have a 'misunderstanding' all over your face, Froggy lips!" she exclaimed, raising her fist to no doubt knock Sam out.

"Woah!" Sam held up his hands in defence. "Hold on a second! I only pummelled your partner because I thought you guys were Sins!"

"Sins!?" Santana repeated incredulously. "Have you lost your freaking mind!?"

"Santana, calm down," Blaine cut in, seeing that familiar vein popping out on the latino's forehead and decided he should stop her before heads started rolling. "Sam's on our side. And don't worry, I got in a few hits to so it's all good."

Santana eyed Sam closely before seeming to decide he was harmless and stepping back, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Fine, I'll take your word for it, Hobbit," Santana muttered before pointing a stern finger at Sam. "But I've got my eyes on you, Jesse Mcartney."

Sam didn't say anything as Santana sat back down on the sofa.

"So, what's he doing here?" she asked, putting her feet back on their pedestal.

Blaine nodded for Sam to come sit with them as he lowered himself down next to Santana. He cleared his throat before turning to the girl.

"Sam says he's been working for Burt for years, guarding Kurt," Blaine told her, watching her stiffen and watch Sam.

"I have," Sam insisted, falling into the arm chair adjacent to them. "I followed him from Lima to here to make sure nothing bad happened to him and, so far, nothing has." He scoffed lightly. "Yeah, you're welcome."

"I don't get it," Santana said, voicing Blaine's thoughts. "Why would Burt hire you to protect his son? Does he know The Sins are after him?"

Sam nodded. "Yes, he does."

Blaine opened his mouth to say something but closed his eyes and shook his head, pinching the skin between his eye brows as he tried to soak up what Sam was saying.

"Then why," Blaine began with his eyes still shut, "wouldn't he tell Kurt?"

Sam leaned back in the chair and answered simply, "for the reason you wouldn't: he doesn't want to freak him out."

Blaine's shoulders slumped upon hearing Sam's words. It was true. Blaine blamed a lot of his repressed relationship with Kurt over the fact that he was bound to secrecy but the truth was even if he did tell Kurt about The Sins, Kurt would probably call the cops and have him sent to a mental institution. Any form of explanation would appear insane.

When Blaine looked up he realised Sam was still talking.

"…was a really hard thing for Burt to do," Sam was saying. "I mean, can you imagine letting your kid live across the country knowing he was being targeted by lethal criminals? That's why I'm here; to keep Kurt safe."

Santana held up her hands for silence.

"Okay, okay, slow down," she barked, sitting up straight in her seat. "Why don't we take this back a little? I want to know everything. Not just why Burt hired you or how The Sins know him. Everything. Got it?"

Sam seemed hesitant at first but eventually nodded his head. Blaine sat up in anticipation. Was this really going to be it? Were they really going to finally learn the truth about everything? He made sure that his earpiece was turned on and Artie could hear everything they were saying then waited for Sam to begin speaking.

Sam cleared his throat before he began telling Blaine and Santana the story behind the Hummel's.

"I guess I should start with Elizabeth, since this all began with her. A long time ago, she was different to the person she was when she died. She was a Sin."

Blaine had to bite down on his lip hard enough to draw blood to keep from bursting. Of all the things he had been expecting Sam to say, that was not one of them.

Sam hastily continued talking.

"Before you say anything, yeah, I know, it looks messed up but she understood that to when she met Burt. She was on a mission in Lima, tracking this runaway agent when she met him. When she saw how nice he was and how much more there was to life than killing people and stealing their money, she wanted to get away. So, she was prepared to leave The Sins by any means possible until they started making plans.

"The Sins were and still are, power-hungry bastards. They wanted everything and the only thing standing in their way was the Task Force, which I now know you guys work for. They figured if they could take down the Task Force, they could take down the world. So they kidnapped some of the greatest technological minds in the world and set them to work to build the ultimate hacker. They called it The Wasp. It could hack into any system, break through any firewall, crack any code in the whole world. And it was only the size of a dime."

Blaine sat in rapture as he listened to Sam's words, pieces of the puzzle that he had been scrambling to grab ahold of were finally fitting together.

"Elizabeth knew she had to do something or else The Sins could potentially take over the world. So, she told the only people she knew she could trust: Burt and the Task Force. At first, the Task Force didn't believe her, I mean, why would they? She was a Sin. But then she let them put bugs on her when she went to The Sins HQ and once they heard about the plan for real, they believed her. So, she went undercover.

"It took her a while but Elizabeth finally managed to swipe The Wasp. By then, The Sins had caught drift that she was a double agent and were out for blood. Elizabeth knew it was only a matter of time before she was caught or killed so she had to hide The Wasp somewhere The Sins would never find it. That's where Kurt comes into this."

Blaine's hands quickly balled into fists at the mention of Kurt's name. He was very interested to hear this part of the story, to say the least.

Sam seemed to be delivering an inner monologue as opposed to an explanation. He was string at the floor intently, his hands clasped tightly together and his brow furrowed.

"She didn't think that The Sins would ever find it and thought that after she was gone, they couldn't threaten her family. So, she gave it to Kurt. Not directly but hidden in a present."

Blaine felt himself going cold with realisation. Kurt, a present, The Wasp…

"She hid it in a music box."

The words hit Blaine like a freight train. He almost doubled over at the information. He stared down at his hands with the knowledge that, less than an hour ago, they had held the most dangerous piece of technology in existence.

The small not-battery! It had been The wasp and Blaine had had no idea! He groaned with in frustration, causing Sam to momentarily stop and give him a quizzical look before continuing.

"Anyway, she gave the music box to Kurt, thinking that everything would be okay. Everything went according to plan, unfortunately. The Sins killed her and she had passed off The Wasp. For a long time everything worked out okay: The Sins didn't know where The Wasp was, Kurt remained oblivious to everything and no one got hurt. The Sins tried questioning Burt from a distance but he told them he didn't know anything and eventually they believed him.

"I still don't know how they caught on that Kurt has it but I know for sure that there are Sins in New York and Burt's been keeping me up to date on what's going on in Lima. Did you know they trashed his house? Crazy."

"Yeah," Blaine piped up. "One of those Sins tried to kill me. Three times. I saw him with my own eyes."

Sam's eyes widened noticeably.

"Really? You saw him up close?"

Blaine nodded solemnly. "Yeah. Since they haven't come after you yet I guess that means you're way better at being undercover than I am."

Sam shrugged modestly. "Don't beat yourself up. I have been doing this for a while."

"Which brings us to the next part f the story," Santana interrupted them with a raised eyebrow directed at Sam. "How did you get the gig of being Kurt's bodyguard?"

It took a while for Sam to answer that question. His green eyes had become glassy as he stared at the ground before speaking.

"Elizabeth Hummel saved my life," he confessed, wringing his hands together. "Back in high school, I was a little…lost. All I did was start fights and basically cause trouble. One day I took it a little to far and got the beating of my life. She found me and took care of me. When I heard that she died, I went looking for Burt. When I found him he told me everything. When I asked him what I could do to help, he only wanted one thing: for Kurt to be safe."

Sam sat back in his chair and folded his hands behind his head. He still wasn't looking at either of them as he told them the story.

"So, I followed Kurt to New York and have been watching over him ever since. Simple."

"What I don't get," Santana began, making Blaine and Sam look at her, "is why didn't she just go to the task force? If she was secretly wring for them, why not give them The Wasp and be done with it? Or better yet, destroy the damn thing."

Blaine nodded, he was also intrigued by this and turned to Sam for an answer. Sam sighed, running a hand through his blonde hair.

"First of all, The Wasp isn't just something you want to keep away from The Sins, it can also be used to against them. That's what Elizabeth was hoping for; to use The Wasp to bring The Sins down. As for not telling the Task Force…she didn't want to put anyone in danger," Sam explained. "Elizabeth wanted everyone to be as safe as possible and the only person she told her plan to was Burt, who then told me. We're the only ones who know the truth. As well as you guys now, I guess."

Santana puckered her lips. "Just seems like an awful lot of danger to put your own kid in. I wouldn't do it."

Sam eyes flashed with anger and he pointed a stern finger at the tanned girl.

"You didn't know her!" Sam snarled. "The last thing Elizabeth would've wanted was to put Kurt in danger! She honestly never thought The Sins would suspect him. And until recently, they haven't. I don't know why but suddenly, The Sins seem to know a lot more than they used to."

Blaine bit his lip and added, "like knowing where we are all the time?"

Santana and Sam's gazes were both fixed on him and Blaine cleared his throat before nodding insistently.

"Think about it," he said. "The Sins seem to know where we are before we even get there. They automatically seem to know every knew bit of information we gather and their totally unfindable." Blaine sussed in a shuddering breath. "Why is that?"

The question was rhetorical but Santana and Sam both looked thoughtful. It was something that had been bugging Blaine for a while now. The Sins were like these super ninjas with mind reading, future seeing abilities that allowed them to be everywhere at once. Blaine was seriously starting to consider that they had some kind of army in New York.

"Who knows?" Santana asked no one in particular, looking just as lost as Blaine felt. "The only explanation is that they've figured out how to break in to HQ and steal all of our information."

"But that's impossible," Blaine sighed. "Even if they did somehow manage to find a way to over ride the computer system and get access to all our information, they'd have to actually get into HQ and that's virtually impossible. They'd be detected miles before they even reached the front door."

"Well they have to be getting in somehow!" Santana snapped, looking frustrated. "It's not like they can just waltz up and ring the doorbell!"

Blaine groaned and buried his face in his hands. Even now that they were getting answers, there were still a million more questions that were left completely blank. This mission seemed to get more and more pointless as the days went by. Even now that they knew what The Sins were after, what were they supposed to do? They still couldn't tell Kurt the truth and they still couldn't find out just how to capture The Sins.

It seemed like a never ending cycle. A game of cat and mouse that would never cease to end. It made Blaine think of the two small animal figurines in Kurt's music box and that was so not helping right now.

"You know what I think?"

Sam's voice reached Blaine's ears and he looked up at the other boy in question. Sam licked his lips before nodding and suggesting something both brilliant and blood-chilling.

"My guess is that you guys have got a mole on your hands."

Blaine's eyebrows shot to his hairline and he heard Santana gasp sharply beside him.

"Oh my God," Blaine murmured as the gears started turning in his brain. "I never even thought of that."

Blaine was some-what aware of Santana rapidly yammering away next to him but was to preoccupied with his own thoughts to be paying ouch attention to her. Great. Now there was the possibility of a double agent in their midsts. As if Blaine didn't have enough drama to deal with at the moment.

Blaine let his face fall into his open palms as he absently wondered if their mole was anything as good as Elizabeth supposedly was. If so, they were all totally screwed.

End Notes: TADA!!! What will happen next!? Only time/I will tell! We should be reaching the end of this story soon so stay tuned and also, look forward to some Klaine next chapter!
