Chapter 3
Kurt was bursting with excitement when the concert began. And kept having to remind himself that he was there as a reporter and not a fan.
But he couldn't help it.
Not only was he seeing one of his favorite bands but he had front row tickets AND was meeting the band backstage to interview them!
As the lead singer made his way to the stage, memories of Kurt writing endless fantasy stories about them falling in love and driving off into the sunset flooded him.
So, Kurt had a little crush on the singer... Okay a HUGE crush but that was back in high school... and some of college.
Nevertheless, Kurt still couldn't help but stare at the singers perfectly formed ass as he moved effortlessly across the stage and sing soulfully.
It was as if every note he sang, he was putting a little of himself into the words.
Kurt had never seen anything like it before.
Yeah, some of the songs the band performed weren't as "inspirational" or "soulful" but the singer had a way about him that made every song have a purpose.
Kurt was brought out of his stream of thoughts when he heard the chords of his favorite song from the band.
I get home from work and you're still standing in your dressing gown
Well what am I to do?
I know all the things around your head and what they do to you
What are we coming to?
What are we gonna do?
Blame it on the black star
Blame it on the falling sky
Blame it on the satellite that beams me home
As the lead singer crooned, Kurt noticed how completely content he looked. He totally lost himself in the song, and it seemed as if he forgot he was even performing on a stage in front of thousands of people.
The troubled words of a troubled mind I try to understand what is eating you
I try to stay awake but its 58 hours since that I last slept with you
What are we coming to?
I just don't know anymore
Kurt remembered listening to this song what seems like a million times back in college and high school but nothing compared to this moment where the singer was literally just a few feet away from him and singing oh so beautifully.
Blame it on the black star
Blame it on the falling sky
Blame it on the satellite that beams me home
I get on the train and I just stand about now that I don't think of you
I keep falling over I keep passing out when I see a face like you
What am I coming to?
I'm gonna melt down
Blame it on the black star
Blame it on the falling sky
Blame it on the satellite that beams me home
This is killing me
This is killing me
As the singer finished the song and the guitarist played the last few chords to the song, Kurt was left totally speechless and got a little emotional listening to the song. Okay, more than a little emotional but who can blame him?
This song helped him through life, literally.
When he came out to everyone about him being gay, this song spoke to him in a way. When the bullying and the taunting at school became unbearable, he would listen to this song for hours while he cried. He even listened to this song after his first break up with a guy he thought he was in love with in college. Kurt eventually started calling this song "the story of his life" in which it pretty much was.
Before Kurt even had time to reminisce even further the band was already onto their next song. Kurt couldn't help but be awed by how the singer was able to become a different person during each song.
Step inside, walk this way
You and me babe, Hey, hey!
Love is like a bomb, baby, c'mon get it on
Livin' like a lover with a radar phone
Lookin' like a tramp, like a video vamp
Demolition woman, can I be your man?
Razzle 'n' a dazzle 'n' a flash a little light
Television lover, baby, go all night
Sometime, anytime, sugar me sweet
Little miss ah innocent sugar me, yeah
Hey!
C'mon, take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up
Pour some sugar on me
Ooh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
C'mon, fire me up
Pour your sugar on me
Oh, I can't get enough
This was definitely one of the bands most popular songs telling by the crowd's reaction. People were just going crazy, but the lead singer wasn't acting any saner than the rest of them. Kurt literally couldn't believe what was happening around him. It was like one minute he and everyone else around him was almost brought to tears by the beautiful singer and the next it seems like most of the girls in the crowd doesn't want to keep their shirts on anymore!
I'm hot, sticky sweet
From my head to my feet, yeah
Listen! red light, yellow light, green-a-light go!
Crazy little woman in a one man show
Mirror queen, mannequin, rhythm of love
Sweet dream, saccharine, loosen up
You gotta squeeze a little, squeeze a little
Tease a little more
Easy operator come a knockin' on my door
Sometime, anytime, sugar me sweet
Little miss innocent sugar me, yeah, yeah
Give a little more
Take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up
Pour some sugar on me
Ooh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
C'mon fire me up
Pour your sugar on me
Oh, I can't get enough
I'm hot, sticky sweet
From my head to my feet yeah
The singer moved around the stage with most perfect strides. Interacting with the audience in a way Kurt had never seen before. He even invited a girl on stage and made out with her for a moment while the lead guitarist had an amazing u solo. Kurt couldn't help but secretly wish it was him being pulled on stage. But then the lead singer then proceeded to stage dive onto the crowd and come back just in time to finish out the song.
The singer was definitely putting on a show no one would ever forget.
After the singer caught his breath he screamed into the crowd "THANK YOOOOUUUU MADISON SQUARE GARDEEEEEEEN! "
If the crowd was going crazy before, Kurt had no idea what to describe this moment. The crowd's excitement was if anything, contagious as they screamed for an encore.
But, the stage lights dimmed and the band walked off leaving the crowd hungry for more, and if Kurt was going to be honest, he felt it too. It was literally the best performance he had ever seen! He in no way wanted it to end!
He was definitely going to add how amazing how this performance was in the article.... THE ARTICLE!
Kurt then remembered that not only did he have backstage passes to meet the band, but he would be interviewing them as well! Including the very hot lead singer who he could've swore he saw looking at him during the show.... Or at least in his general direction.
Well, he'll find out soon enough he thought to himself.
Once again, as he made his way backstage; the only thing Kurt couldn't help but think that taking this job was the best decision he ever made.
Comments
I can't wait for them to meet. This is so good!
Aw thanks! :D
You should start making the chapter's longer especially if you're going to be putting song lyrics in it, but other than that, I cant wait for the next one.
I've been working on making the chapter's longer so promise that chapters in the future will be longer! Thanks for the review! :)
Awesome. =P Very nice chapter. Kurt's crush... so cute. =P
