Chapter 2
"Ladies and gentlemen, we will be arriving in the JFK New York airport shortly. The weather is currently sunny and the local time is 5:34 p.m. Please stay seated with your seat belts fastened until the captain has turned off the seat belt sign. On behalf of myself and the rest of the JFK flight crew, we hope you enjoyed your flight and hope to see you again real soon. Enjoy your stay here, or at the city of your final destination. Once again, thank you for flying with us today, have nice day!"
Kurt could hardly contain his excitement as he sat on the crowded plane.
He just got the job at "Rolling Stones" Magazine a month ago, and now he was seeing one of the most famous bands to emerge in the history of Rock-and-roll!
He had never been to New York, and couldn't help but smile to himself as he was exiting the airplane.
He always thought that he would come to New York and live out his dream to perform on Broadway, like his best friend Rachel did after high school.
But, after he was rejected to NYADA, he enrolled in San Francisco State University and majored in journalism and music, two things in which he loved! (Well, besides fashion of course).
His friends and family were rather surprised when they found out his major choice. They knew he loved music, but writing?
Kurt started secretly writing when his life at McKinley high was getting unbearable to deal with.
He was the only openly gay kid at McKinley High, and probably all of Lima, Ohio!
So, he was taunted, bullied, and ridiculed for just being himself.
He never told anyone this, but there was a point where he was about to break from all of the crap that he had to deal with.
He wanted to find a way to release all the pain, hurt, and emptiness he felt on the daily basis.
He thought about cutting, he thought about taking pills, and he even thought about stealing a few whiskey bottles from his dad's liquor cabinet.
But he knew deep down that, turning to all that would just be a cheap fix to relieve the pain and create even more problems, instead of being a solution.
So, he started writing.
At first it was just his thoughts and feelings he had in his journal. Then, he started to write little stories, when writing about his life just made him even more depressed. And eventually, he started writing little notes and critiques on the fashion/ music magazines he always read.
Kurt was seldom to tell anyone about his new love for writing.
He was scared that someone would eventually ruin that for him.
He found his found his solace in writing, and wanted no one to take that away.
After college he booked a few writing jobs for local newspapers, and he kept getting offers for other writing jobs but he felt that would take away the time he spent writing the book he was working on.
That was until a month ago when Kurt was told about a job opening in "Rolling Stones" magazine.
Kurt read the Rolling Stones almost as much as he read Vogue!
He was not going to miss an opportunity like this, so he applied for the job.
Kurt was surprised when a few days after the interview he got the job. He surely thought that someone way more experience would get it.
He couldn't help but feel like that was the greatest decision he ever made when he exited the airport and spotted a guy in a black suit holding a sign with his name in his hand.
"Hello Mr. Hummel, I'm your driver Mr. Figgins and I will be you're escort during you're stay in the city. First, I will be dropping you off at your hotel, and then to the show at Madison Square Garden."
"Oh! Thank you!, You can just call me Kurt, so what hotel am I staying at?, The people at the company told me but I think I was just so excited when they told me I would be going to New York to listen!"
"You will be staying at the Plaza Hotel"
"Oh my god! Like, where all the famous celebrities stay and where they filmed Sleepless in Seattle, Breakfast at Tiffany's and Sex and the city?! "
The driver chuckled "Yes that is correct. Now if you wouldn't mind I will put your belongings into the car, and we will be at the hotel in no time."
Kurt got into the car, while the driver put his bags and luggage in the trunk.
And as the driver pulled off, and he finally saw the true beauty that is New York City, he couldn't contain his joy while he had a huge grin plastered on his face.
Yeah, this was a city he would never get tired of being in.
