Blaine was about to shut off his laptop, ready for bed when a reply came to his inbox. Kurt Hummel Re: To Kurt, please read.

Blaine opened the email and he almost fell to the floor. Across the computer screen, the black words read: Tomorrow, 10am. Starbucks.

Blaine screamed, making Cooper run in and see the screen then grab him in happiness. The two brothers hugged each other then Cooper left to go back to his room, leaving Blaine to shut his computer off and crawl into bed, putting his alarm on for 8am.

Blaine spent a long time getting ready, making sure he looked perfect for Kurt and ended up having to rush to get to the coffee shop in time.

Blaine walked in and looked around, his eyes finding Kurt easily. He stood for a second and marvelled at his ex-boyfriend. He looked beautiful; his pale skin was washed with the morning light and looked like it was glowing, his light brown hair shone. He was looking out of the window with a look of longing and thoughtfulness. Blaine walked in and up to the counter. He ordered his usual medium drip and turned as he felt eyes watching him. He turned to look and saw Kurt watching him. They smiled at each other and Blaine picked up his cup as the server gave it to him. He walked over and sat down, Kurt’s eyes following his every move.

Kurt saw Blaine as he walked into the coffee shop. He looked gorgeous; his hazel eyes were wide and glinting in the lights, his black, curly hair was slicked down perfectly even though Kurt had heard he wasn’t gelling as much anymore and his dark blue and black outfit showed off his muscular body perfectly. Blaine had dressed to impress. He watched as Blaine ordered and smiled as Blaine turned and noticed him watching. He tried to tear his eyes away but as much as he wanted to, Kurt couldn’t bring himself to.

They smiled at each other across the table, suddenly nervous in each other’s company.

“So,” Kurt started as Blaine took a breath. “I really liked the email. You’ve got a great memory, Blaine.”

Blaine scoffed and smiled at Kurt as he replied. “I know you remember them all too.”

Kurt nodded and looked into his coffee as if it could answer all of his questions instead of the man in front of him. “What were you expecting? What do you want from me?” He whispered, not looking up from his cup.

Blaine went to drag a hand through his hair but then remembered he’d gelled it for Kurt. “I don’t know, I was hoping to talk, to ask you out, for a second chance? I was an idiot back then, Kurt. I was so stupid. I believed I was doing the right thing for both of us by splitting up with you, letting you have New York and focus on that. I missed you so much and I forgot the big picture, the fact that in the end I’d be here, with you in New York making my way too. If you can ever forgive me, I’d like to try. We were so good together, Kurt.”

Kurd nodded and looked at Blaine then away at the others in the coffee shop.  He sighed and spoke slowly. “Yes, we were Blaine. Have you ever heard of the saying ‘sometimes things fall apart so that better things can fall together’?” He watched Blaine nod then carried on. “Marilyn Monroe said it. You broke my heart that day Blaine, but maybe we did need that space; maybe we should have ended it earlier. I’ve heard about you, how much you’ve grown and look how far we’ve both come. We’re more mature, we understand things we couldn’t or wouldn’t and we did things on our own terms. I’m not saying it was right, what you did but I understand and forgive you.”

Blaine’s eyes widened, that was far more than he’d ever expected then he leant forward a little, trying to understand. “Soo, is that a yes?”

Kurt smiled, remembering a conversation in Breadstix, the roles reversed. He reached for Blaine’s hand across the table and giggled at how quickly Blaine gave him his hand. He smiled at the gorgeous man and said proudly. “Yes, that’s a yes. Let’s just get back together and be happy.”

Blaine jumped up from his chair and dragged Kurt up into a full body hug, whispering. “You won’t regret this baby.” In his ear.

Over the next few months they spent all their free time together, Blaine came to see Kurt at work when he could and Kurt waited for Blaine’s classes to finish when he could. They romanced each other, added new memories and songs to the lists Blaine had made in that email and enjoyed life as a couple again.

In the end Kurt moved out of his apartment with Rachel and Blaine moved out of his with Cooper. They found their own apartment and made it home. They were surprised to hear that Rachel had moved into an apartment with Cooper and Blaine had asked if she’d brother hopped from Kurt’s to Blaine’s. He slept at a friend’s that night.

They weren’t kids any more, eager to make it in the world and show everyone. They were adults. Still eager but knowing that in time they’d take on the world, together and nothing could ever break them up. Their friends called them an epic love story. Burt and Carole were overjoyed to have Blaine back in the family. Blaine never bothered ringing his own parents.

A year after Blaine had sent the email to win Kurt back; Kurt was sat in his office at Vogue typing out an article when he received an email. He looked at his inbox and smiled. Blaine Anderson, I have something to ask you.

Kurt opened the email and his mouth dropped open.

My beloved Kurt,

I’ve been thinking…

You make me so happy, and so proud, I love you so much.

Have you considered changing your name? To Kurt Anderson? Or Kurt Hummel-Anderson? Or I can change mine to Blaine Hummel.

Reasons to say yes:

I love you

We love each other

Every day with you is better than the one before

You’re so gorgeous

You make me incredibly happy

…and I know I make you happy

Our friends all say we should

Your parents already gave their blessing

Our brothers are already rehearsing their speeches

…I think they started when we got back together actually

You inspire me

…in so many ways

I’m so proud of you

You keep telling me you’re proud of me

We make a gorgeous couple

Because I’ve been standing out here for hours and think I’m about to get arrested for loitering

Because there’s never been, never will be anyone else for either of us

…and I’m pretty smug about that

Most of all though, Kurt. I love you.

Reasons to say no:

Our brothers are writing their own speeches, scary

Please say yes.

P.S: Come outside.

All my love and hope, Blaine.

Kurt giggled and looked around; noticing most of his colleagues were pressed up against the windows that looked out over the square in front of the building. He stood up and ran all the way downstairs. He got to the front doors and his breath stopped in his throat. In the middle of the square, with policemen giving him the eye and onlookers walking around and ‘aww’-ing, was Blaine. Their eyes connected and the curly haired man sank to one knee, holding out his hand to Kurt. Kurt gasped and felt Isabelle push him forward. He opened the doors and walked up to Blaine, tears streaming down his face. Blaine pushed the ring onto his finger, their eyes never leaving each other’s until Blaine stood up and wrapped his arms around Kurt. They kissed long and deep, the rest of the world falling away as the onlookers cheered around them.

They finally broke away and Kurt took the other ring from the box and slid it onto Blaine’s finger. Glasz met hazel and Kurt whispered. “I love you Mr Anderson-Hummel.”

Blaine grinned and leaned in to lick Kurt’s lips and whispered back. “I love you too Mr Hummel-Anderson.”

Across New York inboxes pinged with videos of the sweet proposal between an NYU student and a Vogue writer and a hundred romances were started, and a hundred loves rediscovered.

End Notes: Hope you liked!
