Hours and lots of movies later the two boys were still sitting on the couch, snuggled into each other. No one of them wanted to break the silence that was between them but Kurt knew that he had to go home soon. He just wanted to spend some more time with his … What is he even to me? My teacher? My friend? My boyfriend? I don’t even know…
With that thought in mind he took a deep breath, which Blaine heard.
“Are you ok?” He asked him.
“Yeah … Yeah, I guess so. I was just thinking…”
“About?” Blaine asked again. He really wanted to know what was going on in that beautiful head of his… What is he even to me now? What did all that kissing mean? Are we friends? Is he my boyfriend now? Gosh, this is so messed up…
“I … I can’t really tell to be honest!”
“Sure you can. You can tell me everything and anything. And you should know that.” Blaine said in a serious voice.
“Th.. Thank you!” Kurt answered.
“So, what’s going on in that beautiful head of yours?” OMG, did I really just say that. What is wrong with you, Blaine?
Wait! Did he just say that I’m beautiful? Am I dreaming?
“You … You think … think that I am beautiful?” Kurt asked with a shy voice not looking into Blaine’s eyes.
Crap, he heard that.
“Mmmmm, … because … because I think it’s … it’s true! And … and I think … you should know that!” Blaine answered. He grabbed the other boys face in both of his hands and forced to look him into his own eyes. “You ARE beautiful!” He repeated.
Kurt blushed at that and at the look Blaine was giving him. He saw it in his eyes that he was honest about this. And that he was telling the truth.
“Thank … Thank you I guess…!” He said and looked once again at the other man’s lips. He wasn’t sure if he could kiss him again. But he thought that he should just go for it. He knew that Mr. A. liked him. So he wouldn’t mind, right??
And with that thought in mind he went for it. He took the other man’s face in his hands – like Blaine did earlier – and kissed him on the lips. Blaine (of course) didn’t mind that at all and kissed the other boy back. He even deepened the kiss while catching his underlip and pushing his tongue in the other man’s mouth. Their tongues battled for a little while until Kurt pulled away and took a deep breath.
“That … That was …!” He couldn’t even finish the sentence.
“I know!” Answered Blaine and blushed a little. “And I’m sorry!”
“Don’t be. Please, don’t be!” Kurt said and locked eyes with Blaine.
“But I … I need to go now.” He said and tried to entangle himself from Blaine. He really wanted to stay there with the other man. “My dad might be worried about me by now!” He added. "And I forgot to take my phone with me!"
“Yeah, I know. Though I don’t want you to leave to be honest. But I know…!” Blaine said and just holds him a little tighter. He really wanted Kurt to stay. But that was not an option and he knew that. Not yet anyways.
They still hadn’t talked about their status. And he didn’t really want to ruin the night they just had. They could talk about stuff like that later. At least I hope so.
“So, I will see you tomorrow at school then, right?” He asked with more than a little hope in his voice.
Kurt finally got up from the couch and Blaine followed him to the door. Even if this made his heart heavy as stone. He had to let him go.
“Yeah … Yeah, of course you will!” Kurt said with a smile.
“Good. Since … I mean, since you … you brighten my day every time I see you!” He said honestly and took Kurt’s hand.
Kurt intertwined their fingers together and squeezed the other man’s hand.
“You brighten mine as well if I’m honest!” Kurt said and took a step forward. For one last kiss.
They kissed one last time and said goodbye to each other.
Kurt got over to his car and smiled over his shoulder. Blaine was standing in his door and waved back at him. It was really love sickening.
Blaine watched Kurt driving away and smiled to himself. Today was a good day. After all…
Kurt saw in the rearview mirror that Blaine was watching him and he smiled to himself. He was able to do that to another person and he couldn’t believe it.
Blaine went back into his house and he couldn’t help his smile. He was happy. After such a long time he was finally happy again. And the reason for that was his student… There it was again, this word: STUDENT. Ugh, he thought. I don’t like this. But I like him. So much…
In the meanwhile Kurt was still driving home. His own smile never leaving his face. He was happy. In the first time of his life he was truly happy. And he couldn’t believe that it was because of his teacher. TEACHER. A word that was hunting him in his dreams at night. But he couldn’t help himself. I like him. So much…
With that thought and daydream he didn’t realize the other car on the road which was going pretty fast. Way too fast. The other car was on his site of the road but he realized that too late. It was already too late to react.
He was trying to hit the brakes but the other car was way faster than he thought. He had no chance. The other car crashed into his and he was tumbling over with his own car. His last thought was Blaine. But Blaine wasn’t there to help him. After his last thought he lost consciousness.
The other car was able to get away without checking what might have happened to the other car. It was a hit and run. He didn’t really care what happened to the other person. He just wanted to leave and don’t get in trouble. Luckily no one was around to see him or what had happened.
Burt’s POV
After Kurt left to go to Blaine’s place he was sitting at home in his recliner and watching some old games on his TV. He was not really watching the game though. He was thinking about his son more and wondering what they might be doing right now. No, don’t go there, he told himself. He is still your little kid. And he only wanted to talk to Blaine. Nothing would happen. But maybe I should talk to Blaine soon. About boundaries and stuff like that. Yes, I should do that. I will invite him over to dinner soon. And I will frighten him…
He was wondering when Kurt would be home. It was getting late. And they didn’t talk about a curfew. But he knew his son. He wouldn’t stay out late at a school’s night. But he was with Blaine now. The guy his son had feelings for. He couldn’t help himself but be worried. He would always be worried about his little boy.
I could try to call him on his phone, he thought. And with that he got up and took the house phone in his hand. He called his son’s number. Only then he heard some phone ringing in his house.
Great, he forgot to take his phone with him. Ugh. He hung up and went over to his recliner. In that moment the house phone rang. And he was wondering who that might be. He went back over to the phone and took the call.
“Kurt? Kurt, is that you?” He asked in the phone without even giving the other person a chance to talk first.
“No, … no, Mr. Hummel?”
“Yes, who is this?” Now he was worried once more.
“It’s nurse Carole. We … I’m sorry to disturb you this late…!”
“Wait? Did you say nurse? What’s wrong? What happened?”
“Please, sir. You have to calm down a little.”
“You are not going to tell me what I should or shouldn’t do…”
“Sir, we have your son here. He was brought in earlier. He was in a car accident…”
“Car accident? Is … Is he … is he okay?” He asked even though he didn’t know how he could form those words right now. He was heavily breathing and couldn’t get air in his lunges properly.
“He … He is alive. But we had to sedate him. He is in a coma right now, sir.” Carole told him. She could hear that the man on the other end of the phone was breathing heavily.
“Sir, is there any chance you could get here?” She asked carefully.
“I … I don’t know to be honest. I … I could call someone to come and get me. I guess … I guess I shouldn’t drive like this right?” He asked Carole – without even knowing her.
“Yeah, yeah that would be better. I think you shouldn’t drive on your own right now.”
“You … you are right!”
“I will watch out for him until you get here. I promise you that. Please be careful, sir.”
“It’s … it’s Burt. But thank you, Carole.”
“No .. no problem, B-Burt. Just be careful, ok?”
“Yeah … Yes, I will be. Thank you for looking after my angel. He is the only thing left that I have. I need him…” With that he started to sob into the phone.
“Of course, I will, Burt.”
And with that Carole hung up, with own tears in her eyes. She knew how this man was feeling right now. She had an own son around Kurt’s age and lost her husband years ago. So she definitely knew what he was feeling right now.
She didn’t want to imagine what would happen if that was Finn instead and she would get such a call… She just hoped that Burt would be safe and not drive himself to the hospital. She wanted for them to be happy again. Together.
Burt called some of his friends, but they all were either at sleep and didn’t even answer their phones or they were drunk out of their minds. Just great. He thought. So, I have to go by myself in the end…
