Blaine grew up and he had to learn to live it. He knew that he should do things without being told to do so, or else, he would get it bad. He'd get beaten or yelled at for the smallest of mistakes, like, if he missed the smallest spot on the floor when he was moping or if he didn’t fold the blankets correctly. Blaine learned to not make any mistakes, although that didn’t stop anybody from treating him badly, but at least it eased some of the abuse.
After Years of abuse and everything he had been through Blaine had forgotten what it felt like to be happy, He didn’t know what love was anymore. He didn’t really show any emotion anymore unless he was playing his guitar, it helped, not much, but he knew that if music hadn’t been there when he needed it the most, he most likely wouldn’t be here too.
Meeting Blaine you'd probably think he was a bitter 17 year old, but the truth is, he was just damaged and lonely.
........
“Blaine, we are assigning you to a new foster parent, Burt Hummel. He has a son about your age. I’m sure you'll get along” The social worker had just informed. Blaine just nodded; this would happen every 2 months, or whenever the foster parents would get sick of him.
Blaine had already been in 30 homes. What going to a new home would be any different, he thought, but he always hoped things would get better.
"Okay so just pack your things so we can get going, I’ll be waiting outside"
Blaine nodded again and went to his 'room' to grab the few things he had. The few things which included his guitar, his iPod, a very crappy and barley working laptop, a notebook and his few changes of clothes which included ripped jeans and a lot of hoodies.
He grabbed his things and headed out the door into the car which was about to take him to his next 'home'.
.........
"When is he getting here??!" Kurt Hummel, Burt Hummel's son, asked eagerly.
Burt laughed at his son's excitement and patted his back
“Don’t worry Kiddo. He'll be here soon enough" Burt
smiled.
He knew how much Kurt loved the foster kids, he was great with all the kids they had fostered , from the smallest to the oldest which until now had only been 14 . But now they were having a kid that was around Kurt's age and Kurt was very excited that finally he could hang out with someone that might understand him more.
“Well I’ll just go check that everything in his room is set" Kurt ran off and Burt smiled again. He loved seeing his son happy after everything he had been through.
Suddenly the door bell rang.
Burt stood up, walking over to the door and looked through the peep hole. He saw the boy, he was holding a guitar case and a small suit case. He knew it must be Blaine.
“Kurt! He’s here!” Burt yelled up to his son as he opened the door.
“You must be Blaine! It’s so good to meet you kid” Burt held out his hand and Blaine took it slowly before shaking it lightly. Burt gave him a small smile and led him inside. He noticed the lack of things Blaine had and huffed.
“Is that all of your things boy?”
Blaine nodded.
Kurt excitedly ran downstairs when he heard his father. He stopped before getting to the bottom of the stairs, Blaine. He was really hot, Kurt thought. Kurt continued his way until reaching the new boy and his father.
“Hi, I’m Kurt. You must be Blaine. It’s very nice to meet you.” Kurt smiled as he also, like his father, held out his hand. Blaine took it briefly. Kurt smiled awkwardly at the silence but just ignored.
Burt spoke up breaking the awkward silence.
“So Blaine, Kurt here, will show you around, alright? I got to get to work. Boys behave and I’ll see you later”
Burt kissed Kurt’s head and patted Blaine’s shoulder before heading out.
“Come on,” Kurt smiled and Grabbed Blaine’s hand “I’ll show you your room” He said dragging Blaine up the stairs.
Blaine was confused. Normally People would already be yelling at him for some reason, for anything, but not one shout or dreadful words were said to him yet.
He followed Kurt to his room.
“Here we are. Home sweet home…You can relax he, you know. You’re safe here.” Kurt had noticed Blaine looked worried the minute he saw him, all he could do is give him a reassuring smile. Blaine didn’t respond to Kurt’s words.
“Do you talk at all?” Kurt asked smirking
Blaine panicked.
“S-sorry, I-“Blaine stuttered. He knew he would get yelled at sooner or later.
Kurt placed a hand on Blaine’s shoulder and gave him a comforting look.
“Hey, you don’t need to apologize, it’s okay. I’m not going to hurt you, everything is okay” Kurt reassured Blaine. He just wanted Blaine to feel comfortable.
Blaine trusted Kurt. He didn’t know why he trusted Kurt, he hadn’t trusted anyone in a long time but with Kurt it just felt so natural. He somehow knew that Kurt meant every word he said and that made Blaine feel relaxed.
Blaine hadn’t felt this composed in a very long time, so he did something he hadn’t done in a very long time.
He hugged Kurt.
This surprised Kurt at first but he just wrapped his arms around the short curly haired boy. Blaine pulled away and gave Kurt a timid smile. Kurt smiled back.
“So… What do you want to do today?” Kurt couldn’t keep the smile off his face.
Blaine just shrugged lightly; people never really asked him what he wanted. He would just do what everyone told him.
Kurt frowned.
“C’mon, there must be something you want to do” Kurt took Blaine’s hand. Blaine felt something weird when Kurt locked fingers with him, something in the pit of his stomach, something he hadn’t felt in a long time. He looked directly into Kurt’s eyes for the first time, his eyes were amazing. A piercing blue cerulean color. They were beautiful.
“I’ve never been asked what I wanted…” Blaine said softly, his eyes closing preventing them to fill up with emotion but it didn’t help because tears began to swell up in his honey green eyes.
Kurt noticed and led Blaine to sit down on the bed. Still holding his hand.
“Blaine, you don’t need to worry about your past anymore, that was then, this is now and now you are safe. We’re going to take care of you , we are going to hel-“
Blaine felt anger fill him and
abruptly pushed Kurt away
“Bullshit! That’s what everyone has told me for the past 6 years and you know what? It’s all lies because then you get sick of me after 2 months or less and then I’m off to another fucking home where everything just starts over again and I’m left alone and treated like shit!”
Kurt was taken aback by Blaine’s sudden outburst.
Blaine was also shocked by his abrupt explosion and began to apologize immediately , over and over.
Blaine was anxious and flinched when Kurt placed his hands over Blaine’s again.
“Blaine. Listen to me,” Kurt stared right into Blaine’s honey eyes “I’m never going to, no; we are never going to treat you badly or let anyone hurt you ever again. Please believe me, we care about you and we won’t give up on you. I won’t give up on you Blaine.”
Blaine nodded sobbing softly as Kurt pulled him in a close embrace.
Blaine hadn’t felt so much in so long and it was just too overwhelming for the 17 year old.
Kurt knew how cold people could be. How…cruel people really were but he never knew how it could really hurt someone or make someone feel so low. All his life Kurt had been so lucky to have such a supportive family and friends and that the bullying at school had only gone as far as calling him a few names that he didn’t really bother to listen to. Kurt couldn’t help but feel bad for Blaine, he was such a good kid and he didn’t deserve anything that had happened to him.
The sobs of the younger boy had slowly started to quiet down as Kurt rubbed his back.
Kurt spoke again.
“You can just lay down and rest if you want”
In the six years Blaine had been in foster care, nobody, no one had ever held him or comforted him. He felt composed with Kurt. It had been so long since someone actually cared for him, actually truly cared for him and that troubled Blaine. He didn’t know how long it would last but he knew that he didn’t want it to end.
Blaine nodded at Kurt’s option. Kurt pulled away slowly and stood up. Blaine laid back on the bed as Kurt headed for the door.
“Kurt?”
Kurt looked back Blaine “Yeah?”
“Will you, uh, will you stay … with me” Blaine murmured softly.
Kurt smiled “Yeah, of course”
Kurt made his way back to the bed and he lies beside Blaine. He hesitantly pulled Blaine closer to him, their bodies touching. Blaine obliged and nuzzled his head into Kurt’s chest, closing his eyes.
Kurt smiled at the boy in his arms, the beautiful damaged boy. He stroked the boys beautiful curls and somewhere lost in his thoughts about Blaine he fell asleep.
