Kurt folds the letter in half as he climbs out of his Navigator. He rings the doorbell, expecting to just leave it with whoever the Anderson’s left house sitting.

So you can imagine how shocked he is when he’s met with a full head of curls and a very blank, “Kurt?”

Kurt stares at him unabashedly for a minute.
He takes in his disheveled appearance.
He takes in the smell of beer.
He takes in the lost look in Blaine’s eyes.

Until he’s snapped out of his reverie, “Kurt? Did you need something?” Kurt shakes his head to clear it, “Um I--wanted--I. I was going to give you this letter but uh---I didn’t realize you’d be home.” Blaine let out a bitter laugh, “Yeah. Where else would I be? Everyone else has plans.” Kurt lifts an eyebrow, “Blaine, are you drunk?” Blaine rolls his eyes, “So what if I am?” Kurt is taken aback for a minute, “So what if--? Blaine can I come in for a second, it’s really cold.” Blaine nods and steps aside.

As the door shuts behind him, Blaine says, “So what did you need? Ah yes, the letter. Do you want me to read it now.” Kurt shook his head, “No, I figured I’d just tell you what it said.”

A beat of silence passes.
Then a second.
Then a third.
Before the silence can grow to pregnant, Blaine says, “Alright. On with it. Say what you came to say.”

So Kurt does.
He talks about missing Blaine.
About how if he thought about getting coffee anymore he’d burst into tears.
About how kissing another guy had felt so wrong.
About how getting drunk was the only way to deal with the pain.
About how he’d skipped Thanksgiving on purpose.
About how much it hurt to still love him.

And all Blaine said was, “I know.”
Kurt raised an eyebrow, “You know?”
Blaine nodded, “I know all of it. I knew that you had faked it. I know that being drunk is the only way to handle it. I haven’t drank coffee in months, it’s too hard. When Nick kissed me I felt like I was cheating. And I swear to God I’ve never missed anything as bad as I’ve missed you. And...and..And even though I shouldn’t. Even though you were the one to royally fuck me up. Even though I gave you all of me and you broke my heart, I still love you.”
Kurt flinches, thinking about causing Blaine any kind of pain, but accepts it with a nod and a whisper, “Does that mean you’ll take me back?”
Blaine shakes his head.
“Not today. But maybe tomorrow. Just not today. Someday though, yes.”

End Notes: I'm a terrible monster.
