Thanks for reading!!
I wake up the next morning, to be greeted by my new wicket poster hanging framed over the bed, after buying posters and scatter cushions yesterday with Charlotte we came back to the dorms and hung them up after putting away all of our possessions. Charlotte had a small amount of things but I suppose that must be because she expects to spend most of her time back home instead of here on weekends and holidays.
My thoughts are interrupted by a sharp knock on the door.
“Mm, come in…” I mumble my voice muffled by my pillow
“Hey Kurt, come on get up it's our first day of lessons!” exclaims Charlotte walking in already dressed in her school uniform, the girls wear sensible shoes, black tights, a plain navy blue skirt, a white shirt and the tie, the blazer and a navy blue and red ribbon tied around their hair if it will go up in a simple pony tail, if not they must have and hair pinned away from their face and no make up.
“What time is it?” I ask sitting up and rubbing my eyes
“It's half 7, Blaine and Chris want to meet us downstairs for breakfast so hurry up and get changed before we leave.”

We get down to the dining hall by 8 o'clock and scan the room hoping to spot the familiar gelled black hair, we spot them sat on a table with Wes, David, Nick, Jeff and two girls that I don't recognise. Chris spots us and runs over.
“Hey guys come join us, I want to introduce you to the girls” Chris grabs Charlottes hand and drags her away from me, she pulls a face at me as she's pulled away and I chuckle following them and taking the empty seat next to David who nods encouragingly at me.
“Charlie, Kurt, this is Katherine and Danielle. Katherine is dating David and Danielle isn't dating anyone but there are plenty of guys here to tick her box” says Chris winking at the blonde haired girl who frowns angrily back at him
“For the last time Christian, I'm a lesbian; I am not going to date any boy at this school!”
He just rolls his eyes in response and looks at Charlotte who just looks plain uncomfortable. I turn my attention to the other girl sat on the other side of David
“Hi, I'm Kurt” I say smiling at her as David moves his head so I can see her, she has very long brunette hair and sky blue eyes, she returns my greeting happily attempting to start a conversation before Chris interrupts her
“So are you both going to be auditioning for The Warblers?” he asks looking directly at Charlotte, “I think you'd be great Charlie”
“Excuse me Christian but I'd prefer it if you'd leave official group business to The Warbler Council” says Wes
Just as it seems there is going to be an argument the school bell rings loudly signalling the end of breakfast, Charlotte grabs my arm and pulls me out of the room
“Saved by the bell” she mutters dragging me through the crowded corridors and into the maths room
“Whoa, what's the rush for?” I ask
“Ugh, no reason I just wanted to get out of there. Aw damn he's coming, please sit next to me” she clasps her hands and looks up at me begging
“Yeah of course, wh-” She grabs my arm and pulls me straight down into the seat next to her. I follow her gaze across the room and see Blaine and Wes come over and sit in the seats behind us, after them I see the person Charlotte is so uncomfortable; Chris makes his way over to our tables and leans right over us smiling widely
“Aw, looks like Lady here got to the seat next to you before I did, it's a shame, I would've loved to spend more time with you during lessons” He says “Here, have my number and we can meet up out of lessons” He writes his name and number down on a piece of paper and slides it across the desk. He leaves but not before winking cheesily and flicking his dirty blonde hair out of his face
“What an idiot” Charlotte mutters
I laugh lightly as she turns around and scowls as she sees Chris wave.
“He really just can't take a hint can he?”
“Well maybe you should make your hints more obvious” I smile
“Hm, I'll try”

After the day of lessons we head straight to the Warblers choir room.
Before we enter Wes stops us just outside the door holding on to our shoulders
“So, I talked to the Warblers Council earlier today and we've agreed, we want to turn one of our numbers at sectionals into a duet so, no pressure or anything, but in this audition you won't just be trying to get into the group, you will also be going in for a chance to get a solo.”
We walk in and everyone stands and applauds, we flip a coin and I'm first up, I walk up and nod at Nick who starts my tape.
It wont be easy, youll think it strange
When I try to explain how I feel
That I still need your love after all that Ive done
I had to let it happen, I had to change
couldn't stay all my life down at heel
Looking out of the window, staying out of the sun
Dont cry for me Argentina
the truth is I never left you
All through my wild days
my mad existence
I kept my promise
don't keep your distance
I sing until the end and everyone claps politely, I take my seat next to Blaine as Charlotte stands and takes her place, she breathes in slowly looking at me, I nod and smile giving a small smile before the song starts.
Youre on the phone with your girlfriend—shes upset,
she's going off about something that you said
Cause she doesnt get your humor like I do.
But she wears short skirts
I wear t-shirts
she's cheer captain
and Im on the bleachers
Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find
That what youre looking for has been here the whole time.
If you could see
that Im the one
who understands you.
Been here all along.
So, why cant you see—
you belong with me,
you belong with me?
Walk in the streets with you in your worn out jeans
I cant help thinking this is how it ought to be.
Laughing on a park bench thinking to myself,
"Hey, isnt this easy?"
She wears high heels,
I wear sneakers.
Shes cheer captain,
and Im on the bleachers.
Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find
that what youre looking for has been here the whole time.
If you could see
that Im the one
who understands you,
been here all along.
So, why cant you see—
you belong with me?
Cant you see
that Im the one
who understands you?
Been here all along.
So, why cant you see—
you belong with me?
You belong with me
She finishes her song and looks innocently up at everyone, there is a loud cheer and everyone stands up to applaud.
I smile and clap along, happy that my friend did so well on her own.

That night Charlotte comes to my room to chat
“Yeah, it turns out my room mate is actually Danielle, she spends a lot of time with Katherine next door so I didn't know before this afternoon! I'm so glad it's her though, I was really worried that it might be someone awful!” she rambles on taking small breaks to stuff her mouth full of popcorn
“Haha, so anyway I have a bone to pick with you, how the hell did you know that Taylor Swift would be such a hit with The Warblers?”
“Have you never seen them perform before? Their an acapella group so their likely to be looking for someone who can keep up vocally with everyone at the same time as blending in as a set. They encourage you to be yourself but their only so strong because they work so well together”
“I'm so used to fighting to get the limelight with Rachel Berry always in the picture that I never really thought of blending in.”
“If you didn't notice we are forced to wear this ridiculous uniform here, I guess it was just a lucky guess. Rachel Berry? She was the short brunette right?”
“Yeah, Charlotte I'm really worried”
“Call me Charlie and why are you worried?”
“What if I don't get in?”
“To the Warblers? You'll get in easy, they are a good group, one little mess up isn't going to stop you from becoming a part of the group, you won't get the solo though, that is so going to me” Charlie replies smiling cheekily
I throw a handful of popcorn at her and she jumps away
“I'd better go, gotta get my beauty sleep” she says standing up with me
“You don't need beauty sleep gorgeous” I hug her tightly and watch as she leave, “Goodnight”
“Night”
