Happy Birthday, Amie! ♡
With as easy as it had been to name their first child, Kurt and Blaine did not expect picking a name for their second to be this hard. They’d been at it for months, going back and forth between their lists, with friends and family chiming in with both wanted and unwanted opinions whenever they could. Even little Audrey had her opinions. Though, at just three years old, hers were much simpler than those of the adults.
They had managed to whittle the list of feminine names down to Ellie, Amie, and Rose, but, because they had chosen to not learn the gender, they needed more than just those three. Julian, or Jules, had been agreed on early on, and Blaine had made a strong case for Oliver to be included as well. Kurt had wanted to put Alexander on the short list too, but Blaine only agreed to include it if it meant he could call the kid Lex Luthor when they were being naughty, so that one got scrapped quickly.
“What do you think of this one?” Kurt asked, pointing to a name on his phone screen.
“Spencer, like Spencer Tracy? I don’t know. It doesn’t jump out at me.” Blaine picked up Audrey from where she had been pulling on his arm and sat her on his lap. “What do you think, sweetie? Do we like Spencer?”
“No, left!”
“What do you mean, baby?” Kurt asked her bewildered.
“Nononono left!”
Blaine cackled and tightened his arm around her so she wouldn’t fall off while he fought to catch his breath. “You don’t like it?”
“Nope!”
“Well, alright then,” he said, turning to Kurt with a big grin spread across his face. “She takes more after you every day.”
Kurt lifted his head from where he had it buried in his hands. “Et tu, Brute?” he said, throwing her a betrayed look. “I swear, when I die, my headstone will read ‘Here lies Kurt Hummel. He should have swiped right’. All my achievements will pale in comparison, and I will forever be remembered as the man who swiped left.”
“Pretty much, yeah.”
