Dear Journal,
Dalton is hard. A lot harder than I expected…
I knew that McKinley wasn’t the best school academically, but I never realised just how bad it was. I think I got used to how very little effort it took to get straight As in almost all of my classes. I mean, I even got Bs in gym just for showing up in the right attire!
I’ve only been at Dalton for a couple of weeks now, but sometimes I feel like I’m being buried in school work. It’s too early to tell what my grade average is yet based on the assignments I’ve handed in so far, but I’m not getting my hopes up. Don’t get me wrong, I like feeling like I’m intellectually challenged for once, but it is a big difference and it requires a work ethic that I haven’t had to use very much up until now.
I’m meeting with the academic advisor tomorrow to discuss the issue and how to fix it. At least there’s still plenty of time left in the school year to catch up to where I should be.
Blaine has already offered to tutor me in chemistry and biology till I’m all caught up, so that should help with that, at least (and it’s not like I’d ever say no to spending more time with him, even if he doesn’t like me like that). David is supposed to be this math and statistics wiz, and Wes seems to know a lot about government and history, so I might ask them for help with those.
At least I won’t need anybody to help me maintain my perfect record in French (merci, maman), because I actually managed to correct the teacher on my first day. Luckily it was just one of those confusing tongue twister words that sounds similar to another, otherwise I’d be worried this class was going to be boring…
