Kurt was sitting in the living room when he heard the front door open followed by the voices of his children and husband, meaning they were home from the first day of school. He smiled and got up from the sofa, making his way into the entry hall.

Immediately, Wyatt and Lorelei gave him quick hugs before saying they were going to go upstairs and play. They took off up the stairs, Lorelei yelling at her brother to not touch her dolls.

Shaking his head, he turned to look at the little girl who was still standing there.

“Willow, sweetie, where’s your jacket?” Kurt asked, noting that the jacket the girl had worn that morning was nowhere to be seen.

Suddenly there were tears in the young girl’s eyes and her bottom lip began to tremble. Kurt lifted his eyes to Blaine who looked just as shocked as he felt. Kurt knelt down on the ground grabbed a hold of his daughter’s hands. “Honey, what happened?”

Willow took a few shuddering breaths.

“A-at recess. I was playing w-with this girl, Holly,” she managed through her tears. “She was r-r-really pretty and nice and I wanted to hold her-her hand. So I did. But she said only boys and girls are ‘sposed to do that.”

She took a shaky breath and pulled a hand from Kurt’s to rub under her nose. Kurt grimaced a little but figured washing her hands and getting her a tissue could wait a little while longer.

“B-but I told her that I have two daddies and they… they hold hands all the time. Sh-she said that wa-w-was gross and pushed me, and and…” she dropped Kurt’s other hand and started to dig through her school bag until she pulled out the small black jacket she’d been wearing earlier in the day. “My pretty jacket that you made for me ripped, Daddy. I’m sorry.”

Kurt carefully took the jacket from Willow and noticed that there was a large rip down the middle of the back and the elbow of one of the sleeves was pretty scuffed up. Kurt swallowed hard and put the jacket down on the ground before reaching out and wrapping his arms around his still crying daughter.

“Honey, I don’t care about the jacket. I’ll make you another one,” he murmured, kissing her temple and running a hand over her back. “I’m sorry that girl was so mean to you. But you don’t listen to her okay?” Kurt pulled back slightly and gently wiped at Willow’s tear streaked face. “You can hold hands with whoever you want, as long as they want to hold yours too. And there is nothing wrong with me and Papa. There is never anything wrong about loving someone, alright?”

Willow sniffled and nodded sadly. “She was really pretty, Daddy,” she murmured, looking down at her shoes.

Blaine chuckled and knelt down as well, kissing her cheek. “I’m sure she was, baby,” he said, giving Kurt a small smile. Kurt just grinned and shook his head a little.

“How about, you go up to where I keep my fabrics and start looking for one you want me to use for your new jacket,” Kurt suggest, kissing her forehead.

Willow nodded and launched herself forward to wrap her arms tightly around Kurt’s neck. “I love you, Daddy,” she murmured before moving on to hug Blaine and whispered her love for him too before going up the stairs.

Kurt sighed and grabbed the ruined jacket, running his fingers over the rip. Blaine reached out and wrapped Kurt up in his arms. “It’ll be okay, sweetheart,” he said in a small voice, kissing Kurt’s hair and sighing.
