“Dad…”

Kurt held up a hand as he opened the front door to the house and stepped inside. “Not now, Lore. Just go upstairs to your room. I’ll be up to talk to you in a few minutes,” he said, taking off his jacket to hang it up in the foyer closet. He turned to see Lorelei standing there staring at him.

Her arms were crossed tightly over her chest and her jaw was set, she looked ready to argue. Kurt sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. “I promise I will listen to your side of the story but right now I need a moment to think and you need time to cool off so please, Lore, go up stairs.”

Kurt watched as the tension in her shoulder disappeared before she nodded and turned to head up the stairs to her bedroom. He sighed in relief and walked into the kitchen to see Blaine sitting at the counter working on something on his laptop.

“She got into another fight?” he asked not looking up.

A sigh. “Not an actual fight. Just screaming and hell raising, the usual,” Kurt murmured, going into the fridge for a bottle of water. He took a long sip and leaned against the counter. “I just wish she’d realize she didn’t have to fight back like that all the time,” Kurt said solemnly as he capped his water bottle and walked around the island to stand behind Blaine.

He wrapped his arms around Blaine’s chest and rested his chin on Blaine’s shoulder. “Could you text Wy and tell him he just needs to bring Willow home since Lore’s already here?” Kurt asked closing his eyes and holding tighter to Blaine.

Blaine hummed and nodded, “Of course, honey.”

Kurt sighed again and straightened up. “I should go talk to her,” he said, adjusting his waistcoat. Blaine turned in his seat and gave Kurt a sympathetic smile. He reached for Kurt’s wrist and pulled him close to press a tender kiss to his lips. “It’ll be okay,” Blaine said softly, lifting a hand to brush back a piece of hair that had fallen on Kurt’s forehead.

Nodding, Kurt returned Blaine smile before turning and making his way towards the staircase.

He walked down the hall and knocked once on the closed door at the end of the hall before opening it and stepping inside the room. Lorelei was sat on her bed with her legs crisscrossed under her, just staring at Kurt.

“Can I at least explain myself?” she asked almost sadly.

Kurt nodded and closed the door, walking over to sit himself down on the edge of the mattress. “I wish you would because every time that this happens I never get an explanation.”

Lorelei bit her bottom lip and tucked a strand of loose brown hair behind her ear before looked up and meeting Kurt’s eyes. “It’s just… she’s my little sister,” Lorelei murmured, wringing her hands. “I know we’re twins and she’s only a few minutes younger than me, but still. And these kids at school are just merciless with what they say about her. I know it shouldn’t matter, because it doesn’t seem to matter to her, but I hate it. I hate seeing people make fun of Willow just because she’s different. There’s nothing wrong with being different!” Lorelei exclaimed, her hands flailing about in front of her.

Kurt sighed softly and nodded.

“You’re right. There’s nothing wrong with being different. But there is something wrong with getting into a screaming match with someone because they think there’s something wrong with individuality. You need to be the bigger person, Lore. It’s hard, believe me I know. I got picked on a lot in school too. I was bullied and shoved into lockers and thrown into dumpsters…”

Kurt trailed off and noticed the shocked look on his daughter’s face. He reached out and patted her knee lightly, reassuringly. “But, I didn’t fight back. I didn’t stoop to their level. I refused to be a victim but I wasn’t going to become an aggressor because of it. Look, I know you care about your sister but she’s okay. Willow is strong and I know she loves you for sticking up for her, but you don’t need to be so obstreperous about it.”Lorelei sighed and nodded, starting to play with a strand of her hair, running it through her fingers repeatedly. “Okay, dad,” she murmured, looking down in her lap.

“For what it’s worth,” Kurt started, getting to his feet, “I’m proud of you for sticking up for your sister.” Lorelei looked up at Kurt with wide blue eyes. “Really?” she asked in a low, almost shocked tone. Kurt smiled and nodded, walking over and pressing a kiss to the top of her head.

“Yes, but you’re still grounded for the weekend.”
