Blaine was jolted awake by what felt like a hand making contact with his chest. He groaned and peeled open his eyes, blinking quickly up at the ceiling. “Go check on your daughter,” a muffled voice came from his left. Blaine looked over to see Kurt curling up on his side and pressing his face further into his pillow. Blaine opened his mouth to ask what was wrong when he heard a small whimper getting steadily louder from the small baby monitor on the bedside table.

“Why are they my daughters when they’re crying?” Blaine asked, pushing off his blanket and getting up out of bed.

Kurt's response was just mumbled noises as he waved a hand through the air and curled up tighter. Blaine chuckled softly and ran a hand through his curls before turning on his heel and heading out the door. He padded down the hall and carefully pushed open the door to the twins’ room. Lorelei was standing up in her crib, her little hands gripping the side tightly as she cried.

“Papa…Papa,” she cried, shaking the side of her crib gently.

Blaine walked over quickly, first checking to see that Willow was still sleeping. “Shh, baby,” he cooed, picking the 13-month old girl up a little. He tried to place her on her back but she immediately started squirming and stood back up, crying a little louder.

Trying once more, and sighing when the girl tried to pull herself back up, Blaine gently nudged Lorelei closer to the head of the crib and lifted a leg up over the rail. He climbed in and laid down, chuckling softly to himself when Lorelei turned and immediately threw herself down onto his chest, one little arm reaching his shoulder and the other wrapping around his chest.

Blaine gently rubbed her back as her crying tapered off and she moved around until she was resting on her knees and splayed out on Blaine, nuzzling her cheek against his sleep shirt. He closed his eyes and breathed deeply, stilling his hand, and just stayed silent until Lorelei had stopped crying entirely.

After a few moments, Blaine opened his eyes and bit his bottom lip, trying to figure out how he was meant to get out of the crib with the small girl on top of him. He rubbed her back and pushed some of her soft brown hair out of her face with an adoring smile on his face. With a small sigh, Blaine reached a hand out on either side of himself and grabbed hold of a rail on either side of the crib. He tried to turn and get up but only managed a small move when Lorelei perked her head up and looked around for a moment.

She blinked at him and murmured a “pa” before throwing herself back down on Blaine’s chest. Blaine let out another sigh and settled back down on his back, letting Lore get comfortable. He reached an arm up to the back of the crib and carefully tried to sit up, trying to keep Lorelei still but the girl merely got up and clung closer to Blaine.

Rolling her eyes a little, Blaine attempted to move the squirming girl as he tried to get up, having to stop when she kept climbing up on top of him. He took a deep breath picked Lorelei up so that he could lie down on his side. However the little girl stood up and one hand grabbed the top of the crib as she let out another small cry.Blaine sighed and turned onto his back once again and let Lorelei lie down on top of him. He rubbed her back a little and she started to drift off, Blaine following not long after.

In the morning, Kurt woke up in an empty bed and sighed to himself as he got up and pulled on his robe. He shuffled down the hall and into the twins’ bedroom, stopping short when he spotted his husband inside Lorelei’s crib with the girl asleep on top of him.

“Blaine…” Kurt said in a soft voice as he walked closer, not wanting to disrupt the sleeping girls.

Blaine looked up at Kurt with wide, sad eyes. “My back hurts,” he murmured, trying to shift enough to get comfortable but gave up with a sigh. Kurt grinned a little and crossed his arms over his chest as he looked over the two of them in the cramped space, “Yeah, I imagine so.” Blaine pouted and rubbed Lorelei’s back gently. “I had to,” he said indignantly.

Kurt arched a brow at Blaine, “Suuuure you did.”

Another sigh came from Blaine’s mouth. “Are you going to help or not?” he asked, taking a deep breath. Kurt smiled and uncrossed his arms a little before leaning over the side of the crib to card his fingers through Blaine’s hair and run his hand down Lore’s back.

“Let me grab my phone and take a picture first.”

These ficlets are so incredibly sweet and funny. I'd be interested in seeing them in their teen years again. Thank you for sharing! :D
