“Mercedes?” Kurt asked with tears down his eyes as he phoned up one of his best friends.
“Hey boo, what is wrong? You sound like you have been crying.” She responded concerned.
“It’s blaine.” Kurt said shrugging his shoulders knowing Mercedes could not see him.
“Oh Hun. What happened now?” she said sympathetically.
“I thought he might have liked me” Kurt said holding back a sob. “I was going to tell him I liked him and I walked into the lima bean and he was there with another guy,” the tears were flowing freely now “oh god I’m sorry Mercedes I didn’t mean to phone up and cry.” Kurt took quick short breath, “god it hurts so much.” Kurt was physically clutching himself now trying now to fall to pieces.
“Kurt calm down, what do you mean you saw him with another guy?”
“They were holding hands and Blaine was blushing and it was clear that they were a couple.”
“Listen Kurt I’m going to make a few calls then me and you are going to go out shopping okay?” she asked him
“yeah I would like that. Bye Mercedes.” Kurt took a deep breath and put the phone down.
As soon as Kurt had put the phone down Mercedes called David.
“Hey Mercedes!” David said cheerfully.
“Don’t hey Mercedes me right now David.” She said
he could tell something was wrong by the tone of her voice. She never got angry at him. “What is it? What’s wrong?”
“Well I have just had Kurt phone me up in tears literally not being able to breathe because your friend Mr Anderson has got himself a boyfriend and neglected to tell any of us. Kurt walked into the lima beans a couple of days ago and saw them” she explained calmly.
“What? Blaine doesn’t have a boyfriend he has been after Kurt for ages”
“just ask him about it, I have to help Kurt before he does something stupid.”
“He wouldn’t... wouldn’t do anything would he?”
“I don’t know. He did before but on the phone he sounded so much more broken. God knows what could happen. Il talk to you later David okay.”
“Okay bye Mercedes.” She put the phone down on him. “I love you.” He whispered to the now dead phone.
Blaine was sitting down in the lima bean at the back of the shop ignoring everyone nursing his medium drip when his phone started ringing.
“Kurt?” he answered hoping it was him.
“No guess again,” came David’s response.
“For fuck sake.” Blaine moaned.
“Yeah I know the feeling. I know why Kurt is upset and to be honest both Wes and I are upset as well that you neglected to tell us your news.” David said calmly.
“What news? Care to explain?”
“Maybe the fact that you have a boyfriend might have something to do with it!”
“What? I don’t have a boyfriend!” Blaine said confused,
“so who was the dude you were with a couple of days ago at the lima bean? Kurt said you were blushing and holding hands?” David questioned.
“Shit.” Blaine muttered.
“Well?”
“That’s… that’s Sebastian. He was an old friend of mine back when I was in Westerville high.” Blaine sighed. “He held my hand. I was telling him about Kurt and he said I was a great guy which made me blush. Wait.” Blaine stopped. “Did kurt see?” Blaine questioned remembering the commotion he saw during his encounter with Sebastian. He thought he had seen Kurt but he was not too sure.
“Yeah he did. That’s why he has not been talking to you lately. Or anyone really. He phoned up Mercedes today and sounded absolutely heart broken. She said he could hardly breathe. He thought that you might have liked him. Which you obviously do but still.” David reasoned.
“That’s what he meant?” Blaine said to him,
“what do you mean?” David asked
“today, he was singing afterwards he gave me a hug and said he hoped he made me happy. I didn’t understand him now I do. Oh my goodness he thinks I’m with Sebastian!” blaine started to panic,
“what can I do wes!” blaine asked knowing full well what David would say,
“I’m with David on this one blaine. You love him, you have to tell him. Preferably before the road trip because I don’t want to have to open the windows and doors all the time just to let the awkward out.” Wes said with a smile on his face.
“This is no time for jokes.” Blaine said slightly harsher than he meant to. “Okay I am going to do it. I just need to know where he is.” Blaine said drifting off into his thoughts,
“wait.” David said, “You’re doing it now? No Blaine Kurt needs to be wooed especially after this.”
“Well what do you suppose I do them oh might romantic guru?” Blaine said sarcastically.
“I have it all planned out. Don’t worry that curly little head of yours.” David said laughing and he put the phone down.
David texted Mercedes and explained what was going on. He had a plan.
“Mercedes” Kurt complained, “I really don’t want to go back to Dalton yet. Please can we just hang out for another hour?” Kurt said almost begging.
“Nope. I promised I would meet David come on.” She said tugging at his arm pulling him up the stairs into the big hall which started off Dalton academy. “He said for us to come to the warbler common rooms. Mind showing me the way white boy?” Mercedes said with her best diva smile. The one she knew Kurt could never be able to resist. Kurt relented and showed her to the common rooms. He walked in and was surprised to see all the warblers there. All accept one. Kurt sighed. He should count himself lucky that Blaine was not there. He was not sure if he could handle being around him. Suddenly the warblers started singing accapella, Kurt recognised the song and heard Mercedes whisper to him
“sit down and enjoy.” Kurt had a confused look on his face, suddenly Blaine burst through the doors when the first verse was about to begin. Kurt was about to leave but he felt Mercedes hand on his shoulder keeping him down. Giving her his best bitch glare he sat down to watch the performance.

“I love you kurt. I have for a very long time but I have never had the courage to tell you. You’re amazing, you’re beautiful, and you’re talented and perfect. I’m none of those things and I know for hell I don’t deserve you but please I’m literally on my knees, kurt Hummel will you go out with me. On a date and if you so wish, because I really would like it, would you please become my boyfriend?” Blaine said holding-g his breath hoping to hell that Kurt says yes.
“But. What about the other guy?” Kurt whispered. Cleary trying to keep back tears.
“There is no other guy for me kurt.” Blaine reassured him. “The guy at the coffee shop was an old friend from my previous school he moved away to Paris but came over to say hello when he came back for a holiday. Sebastian. He means nothing to me. You’re everything to me.
“Well,” Kurt said thinking, “I can’t pass up a chance to have some coffee with a gorges guy. Yes Blaine I will have coffee with you. But I don’t need to wait until after to decide if I want to be your boyfriend. I have had that decision made up for months now. Yes I will be your boyfriend,” Kurt laughed as Blaine let out a breath he wasn’t sure he was holding. Placing his palm on blains cheek he blushed when Blaine nuzzled into it slightly. “I love you blaine.” Kurt said smiling.
“Awww.” Mercedes couldn’t help but gush. She was happy for Kurt but couldn’t help herself. She took a few glances at David throughout the song and during the display. Smiling to her she hugged her boy waved to David and Wes then the other warblers and left. All the while Blaine and Kurt were just smiling at each other. Not talking just smiling.
David couldn’t help but sigh. One day, he will do something like that for Mercedes. But until then he can just admire her from afar and close. He felt a reassuring squeeze on his shoulder from Wes.
“I know buddy,” Wes smiled, “it will be your turn next. Come on guys let’s leave the love birds to it huh.” Everyone nodded in agreement and walked off leaving the two boys to themselves just talking to each other. The smile on either boys face was reflected exactly onto each other. Kurt really couldn’t wait until the road trip now. Neither could Blaine when he thought about it.
