Santana yawned obnoxiously which woke Puck, who had started to drool in his sleep. Brittany was shaking her head from side to side, apparently amused by her ponytail. Mercedes was texting and would let out a giggle every now and then, and Kurt was just day dreaming.
Kurt Hummel loved McKinley High. Well, not every aspect of it. He loved the people there. Okay, he loved Glee Club. It was the only thing that called him back there. He loved Dalton, what with its elegant dcor, the accepting students, the no bullying policy. The Warblers were great too. There was no Rachel Berry running the show, but there was an esteemed council that approved every last note of every performance. They all wore blazers there, and nothing but names set them apart.
Kurt needed to express himself – not just through song, but through fashion. He needed to be unique and stand out, no matter what it caused him. And so, when it was suddenly safe for him to transfer back, he jumped ship without even a second thought.
He missed seeing Blaine every day - that had beem the best part of Dalton Academy. But all he had to do was open his locker or pick up his phone and Blaine was almost there with him. McKinley was his home, and, despite Rachel’s self-loving seminar, he was glad to be back.
“…just in time for my solo.” Rachel concluded, moments before the bell rang for last period.
“Yeah right,” almost all of the club members chimed in disagreement.
The self-proclaimed star’s smile dropped and she watched as they all fled the room buzzing with conversation.
Kurt let his feet carry him to French mechanistically, his mind still lingering on his favourite Warbler. They had made plans for tonight over a week ago, and Kurt had planned his outfit the minute they hung up their phones. It was their first date and he had to look perfect.

“I have been waiting to see this movie since they announced its production,” Blaine beamed, his eyes dancing with enthusiasm.
“Well I knew you would be dying to see it, which is why I pre-ordered our tickets.”
Kurt and Blaine were slowly approaching the cinema, walking side by side, letting their hands brush every chance they got. Blaine wanted so badly to reach out and hold his boyfriend’s hand, but he would have to wait until they were in the dark movie theatre.
“You- Kurt!”
The paler boy smiled.
“I love you.”
“I know. Without me you would be turning up all excited to a sold out movie, your heart crushed.”
“Without you my heart would be crushed for many other reasons, not just because I wouldn’t get to see Katy Perry.”
They entered the building with time to spare. They looked at the ‘Coming Soon’ posters and lingered at the candy bar to inhale the scent of popcorn. Blaine contemplated getting a coffee but worried he might knock it onto Kurt’s lap in the dark.
The lights flashed, directing them into Cinema 4 and they bounced up the stairs gleefully. Kurt pulled the shorter boy’s hand as he chose a seat on the very left of the room, against the wall.
Blaine wriggled in his seat as he put on the funky 3D glasses. He took a glance at Kurt, smiling at how his glasses looked on. He scanned the rows of seats and saw that they were the only ones there.
“Sold out, huh?” he mused.
“I guess everyone came to the earlier show.”
His heart jumped when he realized he could kiss Kurt all he wanted, if they had come to any other movie. But he would have to settle for holding Kurt’s warm hand in his own on the arm rest. And he did.
