Kurt lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling of his small dorm room. Jake, his roommate, was still visiting family in New Jersey, so Kurt got the room to himself for at least another day, and classes started in three.
Kurt sighed and rolled himself over onto his stomach, burying his face in the soft pillows. But when he closed his eyes, Blaine’s pouty smirk flashed across the inside of his eyelids.
Broadway.
Blaine Anderson was on Broadway.
After the breakup, Kurt had gone to college and cut himself off from Blaine. It was just easier that way. Blaine hadn’t so much as texted him once, so Kurt knew the feeling was mutual. Staying friends had never really been an option, not when they were both so upset and angry and confused.
But with Blaine’s face plastered up on every other building in New York City, avoiding him was going to be pretty fricking difficult.
In spite of himself, Kurt couldn’t help but smile slightly into the pillow. He had done it. Blaine Anderson had made something of himself, after all.
But then his stomach gave a horrible jolt as he remembered that Blaine wasn’t his to be proud of any more. Blaine wasn’t his boyfriend, Blaine didn’t love him, and he couldn’t- he didn’t, he told himself fiercely- love Blaine. Loving Blaine would never be an option, ever again.

Kurt closed his eyes as Blaine’s lips grazed his, sighing contentedly as his boyfriend leaned closer and deepened the kiss. Kurt leaned in as well, wrapping his hands in Blaine’s curls, which had been freed from the torturous hair gel for the long flight from England to New York, and then from New York to Ohio.
Suddenly, Blaine pulled away. Kurt opened his eyes, furrowing his brow at the loss of contact.
“Baby.”
Kurt ignored him, leaning back in and attempting to grab Blaine’s lips with his own.
“Baby, stop. Just for a second. We need to talk, before this goes any farther.”
That got Kurt’s attention. He froze, confused. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing’s wrong. Don’t look so scared,” Blaine chuckled quietly, then sat back on the bed and grabbed Kurt’s hand, gazing into his eyes.
Kurt’s breath caught in his throat.
What in the world could this be about?
“So,” Blaine began. “I did some thinking, when I was in England…”
Kurt’s mind began to wander as Blaine spoke, imagining what England could possibly have to do with anything. Maybe Blaine wanted to go back, this time with Kurt? A vacation, just the two of them, alone. Anything could happen.
