Kurt Hummel sighed contentedly as the train pulled into NYC Penn Station with a slight jolt. Visiting Burt, Carole, and even Finn- who, like Kurt, was on winter break from college- had been fun, but there was no place like New York.
He was finally home.
Kurt quickly stood and yanked his Louis Vuitton luggage case from the overhead compartment with some difficulty. The young twentysomething woman behind him waited patiently, smiling kindly when Kurt glanced apologetically back at her. New York City is so different from Ohio, he thought. His Louis had earned him nothing but dirty and disgusted glares from nearly everyone at the other station, but fashion was fashion when it came to the city that never slept.
Even after a year and a half in college, some experiences still seemed so new.
Finally, Kurt managed to tug the suitcase down, quickly scooping it up and exiting the train to join the throng of people headed up the narrow escalator. He breathed in the warm train station air, heavy with the smell of too many bodies packed into too small a space, combined with calorie-laden fried food and hot dogs.
Kurt gazed appreciatively at the touristy gift shops, the ads for hotels, taxi services, and Broadway shows that lined the station, before heading toward the exit that would get him within a few blocks of NYADA- though he still planned to take a taxi this late at night.
Suddenly, something caught his eye. Kurt’s head whipped around, and he stopped so abruptly that three people ran into him before he had the sense to move out of the way of the throng of people, to move closer to what had caught his eye in the first place.
There, smirking down at him from a huge yellow-and-blue poster, a sparkle in his eyes and one of those stupid purple bowties around his neck, was a face Kurt had avoided seeing, a name Kurt had avoided thinking about, for nearly two years.
Blaine Anderson.

Kurt tapped a foot nervously as he waited for the clock to hit 2:35, for the plane to land, and then for the passengers to be allowed off.
Finally, after the longest twenty minutes of his life, he saw the first few people head out of the security checkpoint.
Before he knew what was happening, a huge crowd of busy people nearly trampled him, and then there he was, standing before Kurt, looking more dapper than ever after his monthlong trip to England, sponsored by the father who wanted his son to go into something more practical than theatre. Both Kurt and Blaine knew it was a waste of time on his dad’s part, but Blaine wasn’t going to pass up the chance to visit the Globe Theater for free if Kurt had anything to say about it, and so he had finally given in.
Kurt, on the other hand, had remained home, trying to enjoy his last two months in Ohio before college- though it was difficult when the only person that kept him sane was halfway across the world.
Blaine’s face broke into a grin when he saw Kurt, the most beautifully crooked grin Kurt had ever seen in his life, and suddenly he was engulfed in a pair of strong arms, the scent of his boyfriend enveloping him from all sides. He blinked away the tears in his eyes and pulled apart just enough to see Blaine’s gorgeous face staring up at him- he was still so adorably short, Kurt thought- and there were tears in the other boy’s eyes as well.
“I’ve missed you so much,” Blaine whispered.
“I missed you, too. Ohio sucks without you.”
Blaine chuckled throatily and planted a gentle kiss on Kurt’s cheek. Neither boy dared to go further than that in a public airport.
Kurt grabbed Blaine’s hand and led him to baggage claim, lacing their fingers firmly together.
They would never have to be apart again.
