Author's Notes: "Lunch Date" next! Sry I cut this chapter short, but it was easier this way! Tell me what you think! And feel free to point out mistakes :)

Family dinner.

Kurt still tried to get used to it. He loved his family, he really did. Even if it was hard sometimes.

Finn and Carole stopped by nearly every Friday - which was what made it difficult for Kurt.

Only his dad at the table he could handle but those two extra persons – especially Finn (he still remembered his stupid crush on him) – made him unbelievable intimidated.

He sat with his head low, picking his food and letting his mind drift off to avoid any attention being directed his way. His thoughts went to the note he recklessly slipped into Blaine's locker.

"Join me Monday at lunch and see for yourself? "

Kurt had no idea why he did that. It was so out of character for him.

Why the fuck did I do that, I don't sit with people. Oh god I can't go to school. Not ever again. What was I thinking?!? He probably doesn't even want to sit with you. Think about it, Kurt, you're weird, he'll notice and run away. Everyone does. You're not worth anybody's time.

"– urt?"

His head snapped up as he caught his name.

"Darling? I was wondering how school went? Finn said he saw you with Mercedes and Burt told me you sang again?" Carole sounded genuinely curious.

Shit.

Yes he sang again. Hell, he was happy for one day. He freaking talked! It may have not been the wisest of words but he did it.

"Umm. 'm fine," he mumbled and locked back down at his plate. Kurt knew they tried to understand him but they couldn't. They didn't know what it was like to feel trapped inside your own walls, not able to knock them down.

He kicked his beans around with his fork, wanting nothing more than just stand up and hide in his room. Today has been too much. Everything happened so fast and he would need some hours alone to digest everything.

"I'm so happy for you, honey!" his dad's girlfriend acknowledged and turned her attention back to Burt and Finn, clearly sensing his discomfort. She knew he made a step in the right direction and didn't want to push it further. He even looked at her while answering!

Sure, it was a slow progress, but it was there.

"– aine's a new kid at school. Tried out for our team. He may be small but he is freakin' fast! "

This time Kurt had trouble to keep his head down.

He tried out for the football team?!?

"I wonder if Beiste will let him play, though, we can't be worrying about him getting knocked over by the big guys all the time. " Finn sounded really concerned.

"At least he didn't fall on his butt when we crashed." Kurt muttered under his breath and all eyes were on him in an instant.

Oops. What is wrong with me today?!?

Everyone was puzzled, though Kurt probably the most. If he kept up this pace he'd be holding speeches for the queen coming Monday.

They returned their gazes to their plates, leaving him be. Kurt never loved them more in his life.

But his mind went back to the bowtie guy.

So bowtie lover tried out for the football team. What if he was one of those bad guys after all? He probably just wanted to make the other guys like him, so he decided to embarrass me in front of everyone. Make them like you then drop them. I am so stupid.

Tears started to pool in his eyes and he tried his best not to let them fall. He tried to hold on to the fact that he made progress no matter what. But the boy wouldn't leave his mind.

The note. The fucking note! I literally asked him to meet me. What's next Kurt? You ask him out on a date? WHY AM I SO STUPID!

The family finished eating and Kurt helped Carole to do the dishes after a quick bathroom break to splash his eyes. She kept quiet, but there was no way she didn't notice.

Kurt's face was probably as easy to read as an open book by now.

When everything was cleaned and back in the cabinet they watched a movie. He still wished to be in his room and paid no attention to the TV. His father sat next to him and had his arm around him. Kurt usually didn't like being touched by others but his father has always been an exception. And his mom, but...well.

His touch was caring, soothing. Burt knew he couldn't help him with words so body language became their way of communication. On really bad days Kurt would even shy away from Burt's touch, but this night he actually lay his head on his father's shoulder and started to drift off to sleep slowly.

The next morning he woke up with a permanent fuck fuck fuck clouding his mind. It was Saturday but that only meant two more days till Monday. He needed to figure out what he was going to do about that lunch "date".

He just hoped Blaine wouldn't show up and spare him any embarrassing moments that where sure to come.
