Author's Notes: Hey guys! Sorry it's taken me so long to get this chapter up, life got in the way. The end of the school year for my kidlets threw my house into a frenzy, as it normally does. Hopefully I'll start updating quicker once again, I do hate leaving things hanging.

It was barely a half hour into the blackout and Kurt was already praying to any possible deity that he didn't believe in, that it would lift soon. Although if the sounds from outside were anything to go by, that wasn't about to happen. The rain was coming down in sheets, the wind slapping against the side of the house was nearly violent. Kurt was puttering around the den, placing candles on various surfaces that he knew the cat wouldn't jump up onto, their soft light washing the room in a dancing orange glow. Jamie was sitting on the sofa with a coloring book on his lap, meticulously filling in a Disney princess's dress a powder blue. He had ear phones in his ears, the music from his ipod loud enough that it drifted out into the quiet room slightly. Kurt wanted to tell him to turn it down a bit, that he would hurt his ears, but knew it was pointless. Jamie was strong willed, a lot like Kurt was at that age actually. Kurt sighed, rolling the sleeves of his shirt up. It was starting to feel like it was boiling in the house, the heat from the candles making the closed up rooms feel uncomfortably heavy, like the air was a physical thing pushing against him. With no air movement from an open window or a fan, it was sure to only get worse as the evening finally turned into night and it got even darker, calling for more candles. Kurt's silent lament was quickly cut off when the sound of a frantic knock echoed throughout the front room, the man quirking an eyebrow at the door. No one would could possibly be out in that weather, not unless they were insane. Admittedly though, Kurt did know quite a few people who would fit into that insane category. When the knock happened again, Kurt crossed the room in a quick stride to pull open the front door, cringing at the dampness that was thrown into the room from the wind. "Blaine!? What the hell?" He exclaimed, seeing the shorter man standing on his doorstep, soaked to the bone.

"Got a life preserver I could borrow?" Blaine quipped, managing to smile his adorable smile even though he looked like a drowned rat.

Kurt reached out and grabbed the man's arm, yanking him into the house before quickly slamming the door closed against the elements. "What were you doing out in that?" He asked.

Blaine chuckled, shaking his head to get the water out of his eyes, looking like a puppy. "It wasn't doing that when I left my place, I was driving into town to pick you up and got caught in the storm." The darker haired man explained. "I figured it was safer to just continue on instead of pulling a U turn and trying to head back." He smiled gently.

Kurt chuckled, shaking his head. "See, had you taken my advice and agreed on taking separate cars, you might not have gotten caught out there."

"Sure I would have, just instead of being stranded here, I would have been stranded at a pretentious restaurant." Blaine joked.

"Pretentious? Nice." Kurt said in mock offence. "If I didn't want you dripping all over the carpet I would let you stay damp just for that comment alone." Kurt had been the one who had picked out where they were going to have dinner, since Blaine had said that he was fine with wherever Kurt wanted to eat. Blaine just made a playfully little pout, Kurt rolled his eyes. "Don't make that face, it doesn't work for Jamie and it won't work for you either." He said with a little put upon sigh, even though he was obviously just teasing. "Well, come in and I'll get you a towel."

Blaine walked into the living room, watching Kurt's back retreat farther into the darkening house before catching the sight of Jamie curled up on the sofa. The man smiled a kind smile as he walked over to tap the child on the shoulder, the little boy startling slightly. "Blaine!?" The child exclaimed suddenly, looking up at the adult, pausing. "Why are you dripping on the carpet?" He asked, getting a laugh from Blaine.

"Seemed like a thing to do." Blaine shrugged.

"Did not."

"Did too."

"Did not."

"Did -" Blaine started onto to be cut off by the sound of someone clearing their throat. "Do I have to separate you two?" Kurt asked, hand on his hip. "She started it." Blaine pointed at Jamie in a playful way.

"Did not!" Jamie pouted.

"Jamie, he's joking." Kurt said, handing the towel to Blaine.

"Duh." The child said before going back to the picture he was coloring, popping his headphone's back into his ears.

Kurt gave a little sigh, shaking his head fondly. "Sometime's I think she's a short twenty-seven year old."

"Nah, I'm a short twenty-seven year old, we have a look." Blaine smiled as he rubbed his hair with the fluffy towel, pulling it away from his head with flourish, Kurt chuckling gently at his curly hair standing up every which way from being dried. "Oh don't act like I'm not adorable." Blaine teased with a cheeky little smirk.

"Right." Kurt drawled before nodding toward the darkened hallway. "Come on, I'll see if I can find you something to wear that won't leave puddles everywhere." With a nod, the shorter of the two men followed Kurt down to his bedroom where Kurt managed to light a single candle on his dresser without burning himself. "Dammit Midnight, get off my bed." He said to a large white tabby cat that was stretched out on his pillow leaving it's fur on his dark green sheets.

"Midnight? Really?" Blaine questioned. "Not like, Snowball or something?" He arched a questioning eyebrow at Kurt.

"What? So, I -" Kurt trailed off as he turned around to face the other man, his breath leaving his body all in one go as he saw Blaine bathed in candle light just from the right side. The shadows cast along his left side giving him an almost otherworldly glow, his hazel eyes dancing like swirling pools of amber.

"So, you what?" Blaine prompted.

"Oh, uh." Kurt gave himself a little mental shake. "I like to be different in my naming schemes, I once had a fish named Desert." Blaine just laughed brightly, his smile causing his eyes to crinkle at the edges, something Kurt was beginning to adore. "Anyway, here. They might be a little long, but they should work." Kurt said as he moved to his dresser, pulling out a pair of soft gray cotton pants that looked like they were only ever meant to be lounged around in.

"Thanks." Blaine smiled kindly, taking the aforementioned pants. Kurt just nodded, standing there awkwardly for a moment. "Are you planning on watching?" Blaine chuckled with an arch of his eyebrow.

"Huh?" Kurt hummed.

"Are you plan on watching me change?"

"Oh! Sorry, no, I'm leaving." Kurt said with a little start, shaking his head before moving to leave the room. Get your act together, you're not a love struck teenager. Kurt berated himself as he walked into the living room again, looking over at Jamie when the child spoke up.

"Daddy, I'm hungry, what's for dinner?"

"Um, I'll go see what I can do. If Blaine comes looking for me, tell him I'm in the kitchen. Okay?" When Jamie nodded, Kurt turned and headed into the kitchen, expecting to see Blaine follow suit in a couple minutes. Only he didn't, it was nearly twenty minutes later before Kurt finally realized that it had been quite a while since he had seen his guest. There also seemed to be the occasional giggle coming from the living room, which normally wasn't a big deal but now it just made him curious. Wiping his hands on a towel that had been slung over his shoulder, Kurt went to the doorway the separated the kitchen and living room area. He smiled at the scene that met him, Blaine was sitting on the sofa wearing what looked like one of Jamie's throws tied around his neck like a cape. Jamie had one around his neck as well. The child was standing on the couch behind Blaine, clipping a bunch of hair clips into the man's unruly hair. "Are you sure Superman wore hair clips?" Blaine asked in a playful manner.

"Who's the expert?" Jamie asked.

"You." Blaine said in an 'I give' manner. "I just think you're pulling my leg." Jamie just giggled. "You are, aren't you?" Blaine gasped in mock shock, looking over his shoulder at the child.

"Nu-uh." Jamie shook his head, biting back a grin.

"Uh-huh." Blaine hummed back.

"Am not."

"Are too." Blaine said before reaching up and tickling the little boy, Jamie squealing loudly, laughing as he attempting to bat Blaine's hands away. "You've released the tickle monster!" Blaine said in a goofy growl, which caused Jamie to laugh brightly and jump off the sofa, attempting to run away. Kurt stood there, leaning against the door, watching with a smile on his face as the two ran around the dimly lit living room. It looked like Blaine had gone into Kurt's drawers to borrow one of his well worn t-shirts that had the name of his university on it, something that would normally drive Kurt crazy, someone going through his clothing. But oddly enough, Kurt didn't mind. In fact, he liked the idea of Blaine wearing his clothes. He also liked the idea of Blaine running around the house with his son having a tickle war, he liked the idea of Jamie bonding with the other man. He just all together liked the idea of having Blaine around, and hopefully Blaine felt the same way.

I adore Jamie! Her and Blaine are so cute together! I love this so much, I can't wait for more!

Just wanted to thank you for the memory. I haven't heard anyone refer to they're kids as Kid lets since my mom. She has been gone 3 1/2 years. Its amazing how something so smal l can bring back so many memories. Her birthday was this week so she has Ben on my mind...so Thank You. I am enjoying your story. I look forward to more. I do enjoy me some fluff. :0)

Looking forward to more! Only, I don't understand why you keep referring to Jamie with masculine pronouns and as a boy. If you are worried we will forget she is a transgirl, I don't think you need to. I'm pretty sure we all get the premise. I just am really weirded out that she keeps being referred to as male.

Great story! It is good to see someone write about the differences at such a young age!
