Story of Porcelain
I just kept running. I couldn't turn back or she'd find me. It doesn't matter that it's been days since I've seen her face, she was always everywhere. This is her territory; I'm just her toy living in it. I guess I should introduce myself. I am... well I do not know any more. Evil Queen Carolina, or that's what we call her anyway, had wiped my memory when she had captured me and took me here, to Ever After. I have long since forgotten my name; I go by Porcelain because that is what the Queen has always called me.
I bet you're wondering why I was brought here, why I am running from the Queen and why I am...Porcelain. The only answer I have for that is in bits and pieces. The less I see Carolina, the more I remember about myself. I know I used to live somewhere with bright lights all the time and there is always a man. However, no matter how hard I try, the man is always faceless and nameless, just like me. I also remember the night when I met Carolina. It is the clearest memory of my past life that I have.
I was in a room, looking at a box with moving pictures on it. I was waiting. I don't really remember what exactly I was waiting for. I heard a door open and the faceless man stepped in. I stood up to greet him and he kissed me passionately. I kissed him back, smiling as I did. He said something to me and I said something back but it's all mumbled because I don't remember what was said. I smiled and lead him to a kitchen where food is covered with plates. I uncovered the food and we started eating. It was a chicken. I remember that. Funny that I remember what I had eaten but I don't remember the man I was supposedly in love with.
The man spoke again, and again it was mumbled but it was also slightly raised. I looked offended and I started yelling back. The man raised his voice at me again. I got up and walked out of the kitchen and into a bedroom. I don't remember whose it is but I'm sure it's mine as I started pulling things out of the dresser and packing it into a bag. The man was at the door way, talking to me in a softer, but desperate voice. I assumed he's apologizing for his outburst but it didn't look like I was listening. I just kept on packing. When I was done I passed the man to leave the room and headed for the exit of the house. The whole time, the man was grasping at my arms and tried to pull me back to him, and everytime I got out of his grip. Once I was out of the house, I started running. Probably to prevent the man from getting me again. I ran until I was at an empty road and there were no houses around. I started looking around for something. I seemed to have found it when a strange vehicle had come towards me. Its lights had hurt my eyes and for some reason I held my thumb up. The car had stopped and I had hopped inside.
Driving the vehicle was none other than the Queen Carolina, though it didn't look the Queen as I knew her today. She was dressed in casual clothing and the face that I had known to be permanently cold and heartless was warm and kind. I didn't know what came over me but I found myself entranced by her beauty. I knew, even in my broken memory that I liked men. I still don't have the same attraction to females as I do to males, but there was something in Carolina's overall presence that was so attractive. I was overpowered with the urge to kiss her and as soon as she gave me the chance, I jumped on it.
Our kiss is my most vivid memory of my past life. It was different from any other kiss I have had and certainly different from my kiss with the man. It was soft and I couldn't help but feel safe under her touch. But suddenly that feeling was gone and I felt... nothing. I was literally paralyzed. I got scared as I realized I couldn't move any part of my body and Carolina was looking at me with an evil glint in her eye. She pushed me back to my seat and continued driving. After 5 minutes of driving, I got dizzy so I closed my eyes. The last thing I registered was Carolina snapping her fingers and a flash of light.
This is the only memory I cling to as I try to get myself back home. I am tired of being Carolina's pawn in her grand kingdom of toys. But alas, I have no way of getting out. I tried a bunch of different things during my first days in Ever After. Nothing worked. It seems like the power to get me out of here is in the Queen's hands. The memory also gives me hope to find others like me. Others that had been captured by Carolina and I could maybe be friends with. Mostly, I'm hoping for someone from my past life to save me. Though I doubt this will happen as it had been years since I've been here. Maybe everyone had forgotten about me.
I start getting out of breath from all the running. I find a boulder to hide behind to refresh myself. I knew I had to keep running though. It wouldn't be long until Carolina's toy soldiers would come and take me back to her palace. Or maybe even the Queen herself would pop into my location using her magic.
Speak of the devil. Carolina and two soldiers walk by looking back and forth in search. I hold my breath and try to go undetected. At the last second, one of the soldiers turns his head unnaturally and points me out to the Queen. I could try to escape but that would be futile when I'm in her sights. Instead I stand. She comes up to me, lifting my chin to meet her in her cold eyes.
"There you are dear Porcelain," she said with a wickedly sweet smile.
