Bros
Glee club went on. The entire week went on. Still no one said a word about the events with Finn, Karofsky and Kurt. Glee club, though strained was welcoming to Kurt and Kurt started getting into the hang of things. Sectionals is fast approaching and the club was working overtime to ensure everything was approaching, even without Finn.
Even though Kurt knew it wasn't his fault, he still worried about Finn. Obviously glee had meant that much to him if he got so upset about being kicked out of the club for a week. As much as Kurt wanted to talk to him, Finn was nearly impossible to find. He had no classes with him and he really doesn't wanna wait until he's done football practice. Kurt has learned to not wander after school longer than necessary.
Fortunately, Finn decided to approach him at the end of the week. Kurt was at his locker exchanging the books he needed for the weekend ahead when he saw a shadow go over him. Scared that it was Karofsky coming back for more, Kurt tensed and turned around waiting to face the bully. But he was met with Finn so Kurt visibly relaxed.
"Um, hi Kurt," Finn sheepishly said.
"Hey Finn," Kurt smiled. He had been waiting to talk to him all week but he just realized how awkward the situation really is. He had never spoken a word to Finn, and even then their relationship was rocky. Kurt looked at Finn, almost daring him to say something to break the awkward silence.
"Look Kurt. I am really sorry for what Karofsky had done to you. If I had known-"
"It's okay Finn. I know that you wouldn't have just let that happen. Just know that while most of the club hasn't, I forgive you." Kurt said. Now that that's off his chest, he just wants to go home and relax the day away, but Finn isn't finished.
"Thanks man that's great and all but I hurt you. Really badly. And I swear next time I'll make sure that Karofsky won't get even a scratch on you," Finn promised, "Bros?" Finn stuck out his fist for Kurt.
Though Kurt didn't really care for those kinds of gestures he decided to humour Finn and bump his fist with his own, "Bros."
"Cool. Later man. Catch you in glee next week."
Monday came and school was done all Kurt needed to do was attend glee (or rather hear Rachel belt out Broadway songs one after the other) and he could go home and erase the day with some Vogue. He sat in the choir room and waited for each one of the New Directions to trickle in. Finn came in and plopped down in his seat next to Kurt.
"My mom's really heart broken," Finn said.
"Excuse me?" Kurt was only mildly surprised. Finn has been texting him an hourly update of his life over the weekend. He doesn't know how he got his number but he found it kind of endearing that Finn would go to such lengths to keep his "bro" promise.
"My mom. Ever since my dad died she's just... moping. I can tell she needs somebody around. Someone that's not me."
Kurt could relate. His dad has been showing the same feelings towards the death of his mom. He told Finn just that.
Finn looked at Kurt with a curious gleam in his eye. Like he's trying to come up with an idea or trying to figure out the meaning of life. "I have an idea. Why don't we set up your dad with my mom?" Finn proposed as if it was the best idea ever since sliced bread.
Now it was time for Kurt to be really surprised. "What?"
"You know! Like in those movies where the two best friends set their parents up so they can be like bros in real life or some shit," Finn said. Was Kurt really hearing what he thinks he was hearing? Was Finn really getting an idea from a movie?
"Finn you know things don't always work out like they do in the movies right?" Kurt asked carefully. He didn't want to crush the guy but he did want to let him know that this was a bad, bad, idea.
"Dude, I know that! But wouldn't it be cool to try and test it out. What if it does work out? And plus my mom really needs this and your dad probably does too," Finn reasoned.
"Okay, we'll try but only once and that's it!" Kurt warned, "Um, how about at the school's open house at the end of the week? We're gonna be there because of glee anyway, why not introduce them there?"
"Yeah of course! Great thinking!" Finn agreed and held his fist for Kurt to bump and Kurt reluctantly did so. He could see this becoming a habit and he wasn't so sure abut that happening.
"Yeah, I guess," Kurt said. He didn't notice but more glee kids started to trickle in. He smiled as Blaine rolled into the choir room and placed his chair next Kurt's.
"What's up guys?" he asked Finn and Kurt, but he pointedly avoided eye contact with Finn.
Before Kurt could answer, Finn piped up, "Nothing. Just talking with my bro Kurt!" he sent Kurt a special glance. Kurt just rolled his eyes.
"Um, okay then," Blaine said confused. He turned back to the front of the room where Mr. Schuester had just walked in and started to write on the whiteboard with this week's lesson. Of course it'd have something to do with "Welcome" since it was Open House. They were sent off with their assignments (sing a song with a welcoming message) and all the glee kids were off to work to prepare for their performance for the week.
