Blaine woke up to a bright line shining through the curtain, and groaned. He slowly opened up his eyes, and was extremely confused as to where he was. He looked around the room, and it hit him that he was really in America, in Kurt Hummel's bedroom. He pushed the blanket off of his sweating body, and dragged himself across the room so he could use the bathroom.
“Oh, you're up!” Kurt exclaimed as he sat up in his bed, and Blaine suddenly realized that he was shirtless. He had been playing Angry Birds on his phone, waiting for Blaine to wake up so they could go eat breakfast together.
“Oh, morning, Kurt” Blaine yawned. He was more than tired.
“After you are done in the restroom, let's go eat! I am starving!” Kurt exaggerated. He quickly got out of his bed, and Blaine almost died at what he saw. Kurt was in his boxers, just his boxers. He quickly tore his eyes away from Kurt’s perfectly chiseled chest, and grabbed his small bag. Kurt walked over to the closet to put on his blue, silky robe. “OK, I will be in done in five.” Blaine choked out, and he walked into their bathroom.
Stop staring at Kurt, you perve. He is supposed to be your brother. But those abs.
Blaine soon forgot that once he turned on the light. This was actually the first time he had ever seen it. It was quite fancy. They had a black, granite counter top, with a clear bowl sink. Above that was the biggest mirror Blaine had ever seen in his life. He turned around, and almost dropped his bag when he saw the shower. It was huge! It had black tiles, and big glass doors. It also had two shower heads, one above him on the ceiling, and one that you could take down. Blaine couldn’t believe that this was his bathroom. It looked like it belonged in a celebrity’s house, or a five star hotel. He walked over to the fancy sink, and placed his bag carefully on the counter. He opened it up, and pulled out his face wash and toothbrush. He didn't need to shave everyday. He didn’t even grow that much hair. He cleaned himself up a little bit, and gelled down his hair. When he was done, he was pretty satisfied at what he saw in the mirror. He didn’t want his new family thinking he was a slob. He walked out of the bathroom, bag in hand, and saw that Kurt had changed into a pair of plaid pajama pants, and a tight, black t-shirt.
“Ready?” Kurt asked, hand on hip, and a smile on his face. “Yup!” Blaine choked out.
Fuuckkkkkkk. That shirt is so tight. Stop thinking that way about Kurt. Kurt Hummel. Your brother!
They walked downstairs, and grabbed a bowl of Lucky Charms. Kurt poured the milk for both of them, and Blaine attempted to find the spoons. They joined Finn on the brown coach to watch Full House.
“Morning!” Finn chirped. He was always such a morning person.
“Full House?” Blaine laughed.
“It's sort of a tradition for us. Every morning we watch it together. It's one of our many ways of bonding,” Kurt explained. “We can't exactly hang out during school because his girlfriend, and my best friend, Rachel Berry, is all over him. Do you not like this show? We can turn it off if you want?”
“No! I love this show!” Blaine exclaimed. It was true. When his mom was still alive, they would watch this together. It just brought back memories. He hadn’t watched it since she passed away two years ago. “It brings back good memories”
Kurt smiled at him, and then started to eat his cereal. They both finished up their breakfast, and Kurt took their bowls to the kitchen. A few minutes later he walked back in the living room, took a seat on the coach in between Blaine and Finn, and turned the show on mute.
“Let's go somewhere today. Any suggestions, Finn?” Kurt asked.
“Can't. Rachel is making me watch Funny Girl with her.” Finn groaned.
“I love that movie!” Blaine exclaimed! It was definitely one of his favorites. This Rachel Berry girl had good taste in movies, and he could see them being best friends someday.
“I do too, but she makes me watch it every fucking week.” Finn complained. “And after the movie, she goes on and on about how awesome Barbra Streisand is. It is rather annoying”
“God, she is so annoying sometimes. Just blow her off!” Kurt suggested.
“I can't. She will cry, and I cant stand when she gets all whiny. Maybe another time.” Finn insisted.
Kurt turned to Blaine, and gave him the cutest smile Blaine had ever seen. “I guess it's just you and me today. Shopping?”
“Yes!” Blaine exclaimed. “I love to shop! I need some more bow ties for school.”
“Let's get ready.” Kurt beamed, and he grabbed Blaine's hand, and pulled him up the stairs to their bedroom. They both took showers, and quickly go dressed. When they were done, the hopped into Kurt's car, and headed for the mall. Kurt had his Broadway play list playing, and Blaine knew every song that was playing. He started singing along to defying gravity when it came on, and Kurt's mouth was literally hanging open.
“Holy shit, Blaine! You are amazing!” Kurt exclaimed “You must join glee club. You could be our ticket to nationals this year.”
“Nationals?” Blaine questioned. “Yeah, we compete against other glee clubs and eventually we could make it to nationals again if we are good enough,” Kurt explained “We lost nationals last year because Finn and Rachel decided to swap spit on stage. But this year, we have to win.”
“They kissed on stage?” Blaine asked in amazement. “Yup, Santana almost took off Rachel's head. We had three people trying to her back,” He explained “She is a real firecracker.”
“Is Santana one of your friends?” Blaine asked.
“Yeah, something like that.” Kurt laughed. “Santana is... interesting. She is a cheerio, and only originally joined glee to try and destroy the club. But she ended up liking it. Last year, she was a really big help when I was getting bullied. Enough about my life though, tell me about yours!”
“Well,” Blaine started. “I lived with my dad in a small house in Toronto. I played hockey, and was really big on basketball. My mother passed away two years ago, due to a car crash. They person that hit her was drunk. He is still alive, but she didn’t make it through surgery. After the crash, I kind of just stopped playing sports. ”
Kurt glanced over at the boy sitting next to him, and saw a tear roll down his tan cheek. He knew exactly how he felt. Kurt had given up everything he ever loved when his mother passed away. He stopped playing tea party with his dad, he stopped caring about fashion, and he wouldn’t sing for years.
“Blaine...” Kurt whispered “I’m so sorry. I get what you are going through. When I was eight years old, my mom died from breast cancer. I was a wreck for years afterward, but I eventually realized that my mom wouldn’t want me to feel sad. She would want me to live life to the fullest. I didn't know your mom, but I’m sure she would feel the same way about you.”
“I'm sorry.” Blaine choked as, and he wiped the tears away from his big, brown eyes. “It is just all new for me. It has only been two years.”
“Blaine,” Kurt started “You have nothing to be sorry about. I understand. Let's talk about something happier. So, you are a really good singer. I really think you would enjoy being in glee club. Everyone in there is so nice, and accepting. When I came out, they were nothing but supportive. We are a family.”
“That sounds amazing. Of course I will join!” Blaine exclaimed. “When did you come out?”
“Last year. Everyone already knew. I mean, look at the way I dress, and my voice is really high for a guy. Everyone just guessed that I was gay. But I came out to my dad after a football game. He was really cool about it. He hugged me, and told me he loved me. Why do you ask?” Kurt questioned.
“No reason. You are just so out, and proud. Its awesome. Nobody in Canada ever comes out until they are adults. My school wasn’t the most accepting of gay people. The last person that came out got beat up, and put in the hospital.” Blaine explained.
“That’s horrible!” Kurt said. He couldn’t believe that would be allowed in schools. Sure, he was bullied. But there was never violence involved.
“Yeah, but that’s just the way it is at my old school.”
They were silent after that. Kurt couldn’t imagine going to a school like that. He turned back on the music, and 2 minutes later, they arrived at the mall. Kurt parked the car in the parking garage, and they quickly found their way into a fancy clothing store that Blaine had never even heard of. Blaine looked at the bow ties, and picked out a few, while Kurt grabbed a bunch of clothes off the rack. He even picked some out for Blaine to try on. Once they were done in the store, Blaine left with 10 new bow ties, 5 new pairs of jeans, and a few shirts and cardigans. Kurt had got a few things too. They made their way to other stores, and bought a bunch of other things that they thought they needed for the school year. Once they were done, they both had five bags in each hand, and they were exhausted.
“Well, we can call that a successful shopping trip,” Kurt said as they put the bags in his trunk. “You are ready for American school.”
