Kurt knelt down in front of the grave stone, placing his flowers on the grave "Hi Mom. I hope you're doing okay today. I miss you today. Dad found a box of your old stuff in the attic and we've been going through it. It made me think of you."
Kurt sat in front of the grave, talking softly, his words trailing off when he heard voices coming up the row towards him. He watched one person stop at the end of the row, and another person in a wheelchair came up towards him, one wrist bandaged as he pushed himself up.
Kurt turned away when the boy stopped at two grave stones; he knew how much he hated to feel like people were eavesdropping when he visited his mother.
He started to clear up his Mother's grave, doing his best not to pay attention to what the boy was saying. He'd noticed the graves were new; whoever the boy was talking to, he must have just lost them.
Kurt continued cleaning the grave for a little longer before he heard sniffling sounds coming from the boy. He glanced at him, and saw the boy was wiping his eyes on his sleeves.
Kurt stood up slowly, walking over to him, taking a tissue out of his pocket and handing it to the boy "Here."
The boy looked up at him and sniffed, taking the tissue "T-thank you."
Kurt nodded, moving to walk away, but the other boy reached out, gently taking hold of his arm "W-wait."
Kurt turned back to look at him, and the boy said "Really, thank you."
Kurt ran a hand through his hair and tried to give the boy a comforting smile "My name's Kurt."
The other boy wiped his eyes again and said "Kurt. That's…. that's a nice name. Nice to meet you, Kurt. I'm Blaine."
Kurt nodded "Nice to meet you too, Blaine."
Blaine turned back to the grave "If you don't mind me asking, who are you here visiting?"
Kurt gestured to the grave he had just walked away from "My Mom. She died when I was eight. Cancer."
Blaine nodded and asked in a quiet voice "Does the pain ever go away?"
Kurt hesitated and then shook his head slowly "It gets easier. But it never goes away."
Blaine nodded slowly and looked at the grave stones "My parents. We were in a car accident. They were arguing. They used to do that a lot. My Dad wasn't paying attention to where he was going, and he rear ended the lorry in front of him. I made it. They didn't. I woke up in hospital three days later, unable to move from the waist down. I'm sorry. I don't know why I told you all that."
Kurt bit his lip and held his hand out "Here. Give me your phone."
Confused, Blaine handed over his phone, and Kurt typed in his number "There. Now you can call me every time you need someone to talk to. Okay?"
Blaine took his phone back, nodding "Okay. I have to go, my Grandfather is waiting. I'll call you later."
Kurt nodded "Bye, Blaine."
Blaine waved and started to wheel himself away "Bye, Kurt. It was nice to meet you too."
Kurt watched Blaine leave back down the path with his Grandfather, his heart breaking. He knew he was going to do everything he could to be there for Blaine. No one deserved to go through this alone.
