“Santana,” Blaine hissed stunned. That was the last thing he expected to come out of her mouth. What kind of lie was Santana putting together.
“How sweet," Jessica cooed, "Is it couples weekend, I don’t want to intrude, I just saw smoke from your grill,” Jessica said looking at Blaine and Santana now. Kurt put his hand to his face, they all matched. Blaine and Santana were wearing red; Kurt and Britt were in blue. He blew the air out of his cheeks. Brittany's face crinkled in confusion as she looked at Santana.
“You're not intruding, if you came at night you’d be intruding,” Santana said, she unfolded her hands and held one out to shake Jessica's hand, “I'm Santana, and my boyfriend Blaine is a bit shy. But it’s great to meet you. You want to join-"
“Santana,” Kurt and Blaine both hissed but Santana ignored them.
“Us for lunch?”
“ I would love to, I'm just going to run back to my cabin and tell the 'rents.” Jessica gave Brittany another hug, and ran towards the river.
“What the hell, Santana.” Blaine nearly yelled. Santana shook her head and stormed into the cabin. Brittany chased after her asking what's wrong. Blaine ran his hand through his hair shutting his eyes. As fast as she can make Blaine happy it took less than that to make him unhappy.
“It’s not a big deal, Blaine,” Kurt said to Blaine putting his hand on Blaine’s bare shoulder. Blaine looked at Kurt like he was staring through his soul. No big deal. Blaine couldn’t believe his ears. This was a huge deal. Every time Jessica would come around this week he wouldn’t be able to take Kurt in his arms and kiss him because now Kurt was Brittany's boyfriend. Blaine shook his head, and turned his back to Kurt.
“I’ve got to make more hot dogs,” He threw the words over his shoulder not really caring with what more Kurt had to say about this situation. Brittany came out of the house and saw Blaine walking away from Kurt up to the grill, she gave him a comforting smile that he didn’t return. She kept walking off the patio onto the forest ground and stood next to Kurt.
“Why do they fight?” she asked.
“I don’t know, they just do, maybe it's their way of showing they love each other” Kurt murmured Brittany gave him a confusing look.
“Not the same way you and I do but in their own twisted world they think they have to get back at each other for everything. You know how hard it is for Santana to show affection to people.”
“Santana said she was just jealous,” Britt and Kurt both sighed.
“ I don’t want to talk about them,“ Brittany said after a minute.
“Okay then, tell me about Jessica.” Kurt said he pulled Brittany back to their lawn chairs and sat down.
“ Jessica is fantastic. Her and I go way back to the first time I came up here. Her and her family spend about 80% of their summer here. Every time I come down she has been here. We send Facebook crap around the holidays and throughout the school year. I think she and I have been friends longer then any one else. Like nine years or something, but we don’t know much about each other. Does that still make us friends?”
“Of course, it does Britt, “ Kurt smiled, “ I think I'm going to put a shirt on,” Kurt glanced at his body, thinking about Jessica being here made him grow more uncomfortable.
“No, we need to tan your milky skin,” she teased.
“Now I'm definitely putting a shirt on,” he laughed and walked up to the cabin as Brittany leaned back on her lawn chair to soak up the sun. Kurt nearly ran into Santana as she was coming out with the ice tea, they passed each other without a word. Santana set the tea at the counter and started dropping lemon slices in it; she looked to Blaine who was pretending to be completely focused on rotating a simple hot dog.
“Blaine,” she started but he turned around and went into the kitchen. She let out a huff throwing her head back in aggravation; She took in the cutting board and followed him into the kitchen.
“Don’t you start with that childish shit Blaine,” she said throwing the cutting board into the sink.
“I'm sorry Satan, your girlfriend is now my boyfriend's girlfriend; Let Zeus smite me for not liking that. I have absolutely no words to share with you that wouldn’t make a sailor blush,” Blaine said staring daggers into her. He turned his back to her and got some chips from the cabinet and grabbed the buns from the counter. He opened the sliding door and walked off the balcony; Santana called after him.
“What would it kill you to be straight for a weekend?” She said immediately regretting it but she knew she had to stand her ground. Blaine didn’t even look back at her, he just shook his head and went to the grill. She had a lot of nerve. This weekend was suppose to be about love and memories and now she wants to ruin it. Blaine was trembling with rage as he removed the hot dogs from the grill and set them on the table. Jessica came back with a few other people.
“Honey, will you bring out the condiments?” Blaine said in a singsong voice. Santana had to be nice for a weekend, and he will be straight for a weekend he might as well annoy her with pet names, ironically Kurt came out with the mustard and ketchup. Blaine let out a hot laugh and smiled at Kurt.
“Thank you,” Blaine said softly, then noticed Kurt's white designer tank top.
”Why are you wearing a shirt?“
“People will think I'm a ghost if I don’t, I'm kinda transparent Blaine. ” Kurt joked.
"I like your milky skin," Blaine informed Kurt. Kurt held Blaine's eye and then looked at his lips. The urge to kiss him was unbearable, Kurt cleared his throat and walked to stand by Brittany and meet the rest of Jessica’s clan of four.
“Brittany, tell your mother to call me, we haven’t talked in months,” Jessica’s mother Laura said.
“Matthew, Jessica, don’t get into trouble and start shenanigans, and be home before midnight, we don’t need to send a search party again,” Brian, Jessica’s father, joked with his children. Santana came outside and stood at the balcony, Laura looked up and saw the couple on the patio she gave them a friendly smile that progressed into a wave. Santana waved at the parents as they turned to walk away. Blaine gave the same friendly goodbye. Kurt and Britt held hands while they walked up the to the porch.
“Matt, this is Blaine and Santana,” Brittany introduced them. Matt was built like Finn but a few inches shorter. He wasn’t fat but he wasn’t muscular either, he had the same brunette hair as Jessica and hard brown eyes. He looked older then Jessica but it was because he had hair growing on his cheeks that made him seem this way. He was dressed in a gray shirt and green swimming trunks.
He gave Santana a once over then scanned her once again slower, she was bending over setting the table leaning to the far side of the table.Blaine caught it, even though Kurt was having fun with this, he was actually offended that this guy was staring at Santana so obviously.
“Baby," he called to Santana, she straightened up and gave him a Fuck-Off look, he ignored it and continued taking steps closer to her blocking Matt's view. "Do you mind putting a shawl on?"
“Oh sure, not a problem,” she said nonchalantly, she walked inside. Blaine turned to face his boyfriend who was wearing his infamous bitchface. ‘Baby,’ he mouthed with disgust, Blaine shrugged his shoulders and watched Santana returned in a thin white silk beach robe that just made Matt stare more.
“What are we waiting for? Let's eat.”

“I mean, I was just trying to make a friend not invite him to a three way,” Jessica ended her joke, as laughter filled warm the twilight sky. Blaine could see how uncomfortable the conversation was getting. Around the table everyone was sharing memories from this past year in high school. It turned out that Matt was older, he graduated last year and is in art school now. Jessica graduated late so she wasn’t sure about her college life but the college conversations didn’t last long. Funny embarrassing moments reigned as current topic. Jessica's by far was the funniest, meeting the Norwegian boy and inviting him over to study, which all the American TV told him studying was another word for making out. Kurt was sitting next to Jessica, and Blaine could see Kurt was uncomfortable. His high school stories were a bit more backstabbing and sad, same could be told Santana, after all she was thrown out of the closet this year. He quickly spoke up before Kurt could.
“Kurt, I know you have tons of stories but my guitar is calling. I feel a song coming on,” Blaine said, Kurt gave him the most thankful smile.
“I go first next time,” Kurt settled waving his hand like it really didn’t matter.
“Babe, will you go get my guitar?” Blaine asked Santana and she smiled and scrunched her face up in a joyful hatred for Blaine and the terms of endearment. She excused herself from the table.
“Blaine is a great singer,” Brittany said and Kurt finished her sentence, “ and actor. Let me tell you," they finished together, “he’ll be famous.”
“God you two are so adorable together. Finishing each others thoughts how long have you been together?”
“umm, what is it now Britt, like our 8th month” Kurt said.
“Well we had that fling sophomore year,” she said. “But about 8 months yeah.”
“Not bad what about you Blaine how long have you and Santana been dating.” Matt asked raising his eyebrow.
“Couple hours,” Blaine said and Brittany kicked him from under the table. “We break up and make up every other week it's hard to put a time frame on it,” Blaine recovered one foot rubbing the part of his leg Brittany kicked.
“Time frame on what?“ Santana asked handing Blaine his guitar. Blaine took it and started to check if it was still in tune from the ride over.
“How long you two have been going out,” Matt said giving Santana a flirtatious tone. He leaned back and put his arms over his chest flexing his muscles trying to catch her eye.
“What did you say?” she turned from Matt's glare to Blaine.
“A few hours, we did get back together before we came up,” Blaine said not even looking at Santana but his guitar. He ran a full strum and smiled in approval.
“Funny, we have been together since junior year. Sure our roller coaster spends more time going down then up but what can you do when your parents don’t like your boyfriend,” Santana said patting Blaine's sholder before sitting down.
“Can we not talk about parents right now,” Blaine said. They gave each other that silent talk with just their eyes, Kurt cleared his throat.
“Any request?”
“What kind of songs do you usually sing?" Jessica asked in her happy chipper voice.
"Just about everything, I play quite a few instruments also." Blaine informed her.
“He can turn any song into a love ballad. You should hear his rendition of "Do You Think I'm Sexy" on the piano,” Kurt said very proud of his boyfriend and his musical skills.
"Well my favorite thing to do is sing with Tana," Blaine looked over at Santana. He raised his eye brows questioning whether or not she would sing with him.
"Will you sing with me?" He asked in an apologetic tone. She looked at him they were a bit out of hand with everything that happened today.
“Of course," she said, Blaine also understood that as I'm sorry too. "You lead I will catch on.” Blaine stared to play a semi familiar cord.
“Right under my feet there's air made of bricks. Pulls me down, turns me weak for you. I find myself repeating like a broken tune, And I'm forever excusing your intentions. And I give in to my pretending,” Santana harmonized with his as soon as she recognized the song. “Which forgive you each time without me knowing. They melt my heart to stone.”
”And I hear your words that I made up. You say my name like there could be an us, I best tidy up my head I'm the only one in love. I'm the only one in love “ they actually kept each other eyes while the sung, not looking at their true partners.
Santana sung this verse alone. “Each and every time I turn around to leave I feel my heart begin to burst and bleed. So desperately I try to link it with my head, But instead I fall back to my knees. As you tear your way right through me, I forgive you once again. Without me knowing, You've burnt my heart to stone,” Blaine joins her “And I hear your words that I made up You say my name like there could be an us I best tidy up my head I'm the only one in love I'm the only one in love,” Blaine sung alone while Santana stared snapping. “Why do you steal my hand Whenever I'm standing my own ground. You build me up, then leave me dead. Well I hear your words you made up I say your name like there could be an us,” Santana joined in, “I best tidy up my head I'm the only one in love I'm the only one in love.”
“Your turn, Brittany.” Blaine said after applauds.
"Wait, can I sing?" Jessica asked, "I mean, I'm not half as good as you or Santana but I was in concert choir," she smiled. Matt rolled his eyes and reached for his tea.
"Of course you can, what song are you thinking?" Blaine asked.
"Brittany, remember when we first met and we use to sing Britney Spears at my house, and you told me you were Britney Spears?" Jessica asked looking at Brittany.
"Of course I do, and then I started to hate her but I totally love her again," Brittany said.
"Will you sing "I Will Be There" with me?" she pleaded smiling, Brittany said yes and Jessica turned to Blaine.
"Do you know the chords for that song."
"Um, kinda, most pop song play the same 4 chord on acoustic, I kinda remember the song. It wont be perfect," Blaine warned and began to play.
"You don't have to say what's on your mind, 'Cause I know where you've been," Jessica said with a fair smile, she did have the booming voice Santana and Blaine carried but it was still soft delicate and nice to listen to, and she had the same tone that Brittany has, " Give it up and leave it all behind And then let me begin." Brittany stood up and pulled Jessica from the table to dance at the porch. they sung together "Come and hold my hand, Let me show how friends should be. I will make it alright, Let me make it clear. You can put your trust in me. Yes, I will be there" they span and held hands jumping around the patio. It was easy to picture them doing the same thing when they were young. Kurt clapped along with the song but Santana was growing more tense.
They continued to sing together smiling, "When you need someone, You just turn around And I, will be there." Brittany pulled Santana up while Jessica tried to get Kurt to dance with them, " When you're feeling alone, Baby let me know, And I, will be there." Brittany took over singing while Jessica finally got Kurt to his feet." Won't you let me make it up to you, Now you know where I am. There ain't nothin' that I wouldn't do Just to love once again." Brittany's voice obviously stronger then Jessica, she held note looking at Santana making her smile. "Come and hold my hand Let me show how friends should be. I will make it alright, Let me make it clear. You can put your trust in me, Yes I will be there." Brittany kissed Santana's cheeked and switched to dance with Kurt.
Jessica watched Santana sit back down next to Blaine, her face fell a little bit, she started to think that maybe Santana didn’t like her. However, she just sang on turning back to Brittany and Kurt "I will be there, Just take a stand. I'll be here for you Now and forever, Give one more chance To show you how much I care. I'll be there." Blaine ended the song and clapped his hands.
" I love Britney Spears," Blaine exclaimed, " and you are more then welcome to come to our jam sessions any time." he said. Jessica smiled and jumped with joy.
"I think its time to break out the booze," Santana said once she realized Blaine just became friends with Jessica.
" I can agree with you there," Matt said with a wink. Santana gave him a questioning look then walked up the porch.
