I spent the better half of an hour convincing myself that lying to Blaine would hurt him less then telling him the truth. I sent him a text when school let out to call me. He replied he couldn't and the new sponsor was here. I paced waiting for him to call or text. I need to know he was okay. I thought for sure Sebastian smelt me on him and it was only a matter of time before the doors bust open and I die.
He called, half past 5, an hour after warbler practice ended. I answered the phone worried and breathless. "Blaine?"
"Hey love," he said sounding tired, "Sorry I didn't call after practice, Mr. Smyth asked me for some coffee and we talked for a while. He is kinda weird. Was totally hitting on me even after I told him about you. He took the other guys out for supper."
I felt a surge of hate in my gut as Blaine told me Sebastian was flirting with him. "That is strange, if he's doing that I'm sure he won't last long." I managed to get out sounding calm and collected.
"No kidding, he said I smelt familiar and that started the obscene comments. Its weird getting picked up on. I do not like it." He laughed. "Can you ask Rachel to come get me?"
"Rachel hasn't been home all day." I said. "Do you think you could stay at Dalton for the night."
"Why what's going on?" Blaine asked sounding hurt by my request.
"Remember Kellie," I paused for his yes, "well she is in Virginia and we have this thing its a long story but she wants me down there tonight."
"You're leaving?" His voice dropped an octave.
"Just for the night, and maybe longer if she needs me but you can come as soon as the dismissal bell rings Friday." I took a jagged breath.
"I think you're lying but our blood bond is gone and I can't tell." He said in a quiet sad voice.
"I'm not lying Blaine," I said in a soft voice. "Friday is your birthday you'll love spending it in Virginia unless you wanted it with Quinn and the warblers here."
"No Virginia is fine," he said. We were silent for a moment until a lone wolf howled echoing though our phone.
"Whoa, was that my side or yours?" Blaine asked. I couldn't find my voice my mind was clouded with Julian infected by the bite.
"I have to go," I stammered.
"Okay? I'll call you before bed." Blaine said confused. "I love you."
"You're the love of my life, you have no idea how much I love you. Bye." I hung up the phone and heard the howl again. I choked back tears and threw the phone shattering it to the wall.
I trembled with fear as darkness fell over my window seals. The moment when the creatures of the night rule over the helpless. The wolves began to howl all around the house. Only a fool would walk out side and greet them. I was that fool.
