I held Blaine close while I contemplate the meaning of life. Yes after all this time I didn't even know. Most vampires sought out to find the meaning and on that journey they found meanings to so much else. I'm not that kind of vampire; I don't care much about origins, philosophy or even the meaning of it all.
But Blaine needed an answer and I'll give him the only philosophy I ever actually gave a damn about.
"Blaine, I never sought out the information to find the true meaning of life, I did sit in a Socratic seminar about love." He sat up to look at me. "Plato says the original of man had four legs, four arms, one head with two faces. And but Zeus feared their power so he split them all in half, condemning them to spend their lives searching for the other half to complete them. Listen to a bunch of old dead vampire talks about love was actually quite static and slightly unnerving." I said. Blaine looked like he was in deep thought. “The thing about life Blaine is that no one knows what it means and that’s the thrill of living it. I've lived 12 life times, and everyone gets more and more exciting.”
"I guess that's what I'm waiting for," Blaine sat up, "I'm just so tired of being weak."
"I think you're strong Blaine, you wear a smile on your face even when things couldn't be worse. You put others before yourself. Your sensitivity and empathy is warming its what gathers people around you. You're courageous, interesting, vivacious, you've got an innocence that surrounds everything you do. You are strong, you face your fears everyday and never run or hide. Your talented, handsome and the best boyfriend a guy could ask for. I believe in you, and so does Rachel, You just need to believe in yourself."
His lips spread into a soft smile, "Thank you Kurt," he whispered wrapping his arms around my neck kissing me. He pulled away standing up and removed the drawing from the floor, "I'm going to see if Rachel wants to try again."
"I love you." I said.
"I love you too," he smiled and walked out the room, I stood to follow and heard him talk to Rachel.
"Hey Rachel I drew you something." he said, as I leaned on the wall watching the interaction from behind. "It’s a lily, my specialty."
"Blaine its beautiful, thank you so much, " She said wrapping him in a hug.
"So you want to go to Westerville mall and hangout?" Blaine asked.
"Yes, I would love too. I need some new dresses for the fall. and I feel like I left all my accessories in New York." she said excitedly.
"Let's go," Blaine grabbed her and turned to see me, "We will be back this afternoon, unless you want to come with us?"
"Oh no, I've spent way to many years shopping with Rachel, you two have fun, I have some birthday shopping to do." I said with a wink.
Blaine blushed, "Kurt, its not for another like 20 days."
"So, you only turn 18 once, unless you're Rachel," I joked.
"I'm nineteen damnit!" she laughed and looked at Blaine's confused face, "I'll explain in the car, dear."
"You two have fun," I said walking over to give Blaine and kiss and Rachel a hug taking her hand to share my thought. Nothing crazy, he is really sensitive right now. But please make sure he has some fun this afternoon. She discreetly nodded her head and lead the way out the house.
