Kurt pulled up to his bakery early that Sunday morning because it was often his busiest day. He stepped out of the car and looked towards the beautifully raising sun. He turned and saw a man with a serious head injury wondering around the sidewalk.
Kurt thought about ignoring him at first but his gut just told him to check on this man.
"Sir,” Kurt called the man. He turned to Kurt and stared. "Are you lost?" The man shook his head no but something told Kurt to check him out. He approached the man slowly looking at his bleeding head.
"You are aware you're bleeding right." The man shook his head again. Kurt squinted in confusion and took a good look at the man.
Dockers dress shoes with an obviously expensive pair of pinstriped slacks and matching vest and suit. He wore a loose green tie and had an expensive clip attached. Furthermore, the man wore an American flag pin. He had slight stubble and his hair was slick back in spots but there was also a lot of blood matted into his hair.
"What’s your name?" Kurt asked.
"I’m not sure. I think its Blaine, that's what this card says." Blaine reaches for his pocket and retrieves several business cards; he held them out to Kurt.
Blaine M. Anderson
Art Collector. Westerville Ohio.

"What do you mean you're not sure?" Kurt asked after looking at the card.
"I don’t remember anything; I just woke up in the ally." Blaine confessed bringing his hand to his bleeding head. He looked at the blood and gasped.
"Blaine," Kurt took a step to Blaine right before Blaine passed out, Kurt caught him but only barely before he suffered another serious head injury. Kurt got a sudden rush of adrenaline and lifted Blaine up to move him into the small bakery. He laid Blaine on a booth and called 911.
"Operator what is your emergency?"
"Hi I need an ambulance to Dates and Cakes. I'm the owner and I just found a man with a serious head injury."
"Is he alive?" The woman asked.
"Yes, well he just passed out. I don't really know what to do." Kurt said.
"We have sent a car to come pick him up."
"Thank you," Kurt hung up the phone and dialed his coworker.
"Morning Kurt," Tina said very groggily.
"Hey something happened at the shop, I don't know if we can open." Kurt looked at the unconscious man on his waiting booth.
"What's going on?" Tina asked, in the background Kurt heard her leave her bed.
"It’s complicated," Kurt, said, "I think there was an assault charge in the alley between the buildings. The police are here, open if you think you can take Sunday rush alone," Kurt rushed his word as a police car pulled up. "Gotta go." An ambulance pulled into the parking lot next and they rushed past the officers.
Blaine was visible from the window so the paramedics came right in and scooped Blaine away.
"He has no memory," Kurt said but the paramedics were already heading back to the car saying terms Kurt has only ever heard on the cheesy doctor shows he watches. The two officers walk into the bakery. Kurt sat down to be questioned but the officers got nowhere with Kurt's lack of knowledge. Tina came in just as the two officers left.
"Kurt, are we in trouble?" She asked.
"No, but I'm going to run to the hospital to check on the guy. I’ll fill you in when I come back." Kurt said still very confused on the turn of events this morning.
"Ok, Mike said he will come and help so don't worry here." Tina assured Kurt.
"Thank you so much, reminds me to give you a bonus this month." Kurt hugged her before heading out to the cold November weather.
"I'm looking for a Blaine Anderson," Kurt said in the hospital. The receptionist looked at him.
"I'm sorry no one has been admitted with that name, we have a John Doe admitted over an hour ago." She said.
"That’s probably him, he has no memory." Kurt said. The receptionist told Kurt what room Blaine was waiting in. Kurt thanked her and walked down the ER hall. Kurt was surprised to see Blaine awake more surprised to see Blaine’s smile.
"Hey," Kurt said, "I thought I’d come check on you."
"Thank you. I didn't get your name." Blaine said.
"Kurt Hummel."
"The police said Blaine might not even be my name." Blaine confessed.
"I think it is, you look like a Blaine to me." Kurt pulled a chair closer to Blaine's bed. "You really don't remember anything?"
"Well the doctor was asking me what my last memory was and I remember driving well being in the back seat of a car there was a lot if foliage and it was the start of spring. Before that, things are blurs. My 16th birthday cake was blue and orange it just goes blank there. I don't remember names or schools just this birthday cake." Blaine stared at his hands while he spoke.
"Maybe this is your new beginning." Kurt tried to be optimistic.
"I’ve got nothing, I was mugged; no wallet, no keys, or phone. All I can think about is who I'm married to." Blaine held his right hand up.
"I'm sure she is a lovely woman," Kurt said Blaine raised an eyebrow.
"I'm gay," he said in a low voice. “That’s why I'm so confused right now.” Blaine looked down at the ring.
“Maybe it’s a promise ring,” Kurt said, “Or a wild Vegas trip.” Blaine smiled a bit but still seemed very distraught.
A few nurse came into the room, “It's time for Your MRI, and you will meet your Doctor, Elisa Neutin best Neurologist in Ohio.” The nurse said with a wide smile. “Make sure all jewelry is removed before we go.”
Blaine took his ring off and offered it to Kurt. “Will you hold it for me? I have nowhere to put it.”
“Of course,” Kurt took the ring. “I'll see you when you come out.” Blaine was wheeled out the door and Kurt stared at the silver band and frowned at the thought of whomever Blaine was married to and wanted nothing more than to find the man he belonged to.
