We moved from my first home in the Delta Kingdom to my father’s first home, the Water Fae castle where we have been safe with few disruptions for 40 years. As the second oldest boy it was my duty to protect my family from the vicious air fae. We are one of the last water fae family's in the southern islet, the other have died or fled. Last night my father decided it was time we fled.

I didn’t want to run but I understood it was for best. I felt horrible for the young ones in our family. Evian is only 2 and she will never remember her true home. Wade either, he is 4 and is only now learning what being a fairy is all about. Of course, the Triplets, Kai, Thames and Brooke will be just fine, they have a decade on the world and know why we must leave, and are actually looking forward to it.

Mom and dad have been planning this move for a long time; they have perfected the human looks of a home for a big family. They gave us older kids new names, mine being Blaine, so we could start out high school lives. In human years I’m only 17, rather than 68. And Ford was 28 and named Cooper, which I didn’t like at all but mother and father said they picked popular names of the times. Marsh and Loire were 15 now and named Nick and Rachel. Marina was going to be Santana, and was 18 while Po was now Thad and 16. It was all a pain in the ass.

I didn’t want to pretend to be human, its not that I hate them or anything, Ford told me about the year he spent up there with some human and I looked forward to the day I could have some ‘fun’ with humans. Fairies and humans have been together since the dawn of time, there was a very low point over a thousand years ago when we used the humans to repopulate our world after a Vampire fae war. We were nearly extinct then and this war with fae against fae kills the elders that know what it feels like to be near extinction.

My last night as a fae I spent underwater, earth has tons of it but it’s not like our water. Being a Water fae if I get hurt or feel weak I just have to touch water and I will feel better. I packed a vial of fae water to take with me to the human world. I knew mom would bring some for healing purposes, and Loire would bring some because she is more of a fish then me, but mine wasn’t for use, it was something to remind me where I came from and who I am in case I start to forget.

I lied in my bed restlessly staring at the window when something caught my eye. I sat up and looked closer, leaves blowing right to the window. The glass shattered and I ducked under my bed for my sword and swung at the fae. But he was expecting the hit and caught it with his sword pushing me back. I head the alarm sound the whole castle was under attack. I shot an orb at the fae, sending him outside before running out the door. Ford was already there sword in hand fighting a far and killing it as I watched; he was always the best fighter.

"The kids!" I shouted as I heard Thames scream. He and I ran down the hall and opened the door seeing no faes were in there I picked Thames up and ford grabbed wade.

"Arno what's going on?" Thames cried as we opened the door and saw Marina and Loire fighting a fae.

"We have to get to the dungeon and go to earth now." Ford said to me leading the way. I saw father fighting and mother trying to get Kai and Brooke with Evian in her arms.

"Thames, hold on to ford doesn’t let him go I have to help mom." I told her hand her over to ford who told her to just climb onto his back. I flew over to help mom scooping Kai up and shooting a far away long enough for us to run down stairs. Marsh was holding the door to the dungeon open, "Ford is in there, someone told the air nomads we were leaving tomorrow." He said.

"Come with me marsh were leaving tonight now." Mom said stepping into the dungeon and setting Brooke down. She opened the portal to earth and sent marsh in with Thames, Brooke and wade. She took Kai from my arms, "send your sisters down here, we're out numbered we can't fight all of them." Mom said on the verge of tears. She kissed ford then me and stepped through the portal. Ford was already running up the stairs I followed after him and saw it was much worse up here then when we left. There we're two even three air faes on each one of us.

"Help Loire, I'll get marina and Po." Ford shouted running to the other side of the castle knocking out fae on the way. I ran to Loire and blasted one of the faes out the window they emerged from and stabbing the one fighting with Loire.

"Go down stairs, the portal is open and mom is with kids and marsh waiting." I said.

"But what about you?" She shouted watching more leaves blow towards the castle.

"I'll be there I have to help dad. Go now Loire! “I yelled at her fighting the faes as she ran. They just kept coming, kill one three more appear in its place. I was already feeling weak and I shouldn't have made a blast that big but I had to, there were too many to fight. I ran to ford and dad, Po already taking marina who was stabbed to the dungeons.

"We have to go now!" I yelled fighting a fae. She knocked the sword out of my hands and threw me against the wall. I felt my leg snap on the landing and tried not to scream. Ford was at my side and helped me up but I shook my head, my whole left side was in pain. I couldn't move but it didn't stop ford from picking me up and following dad to the dungeons. Dad took me and helped me down the stairs to see mom pacing waiting for the three of us. She screeched at my appearance and took me from dad’s arms.

"Where is ford?" She shouted as we looked at the stair case waiting for him to descend.

"Ford!" I shouted waiting for him. I let go of mom and leaned on the wall turning to dad, "go get him." I ordered but we didn't have to, he was falling down the stair and fae were following him. The world went silent though I saw others mouth open and scream I didn't hear it, as dads sword clinked with the faes I didn't hear it. All I heard was the stillness to fords heart.

Mom sent an orb to the middle of the room waiting to blow. Sound came back at once as mom pulled me to the portal, "Arno we have to go." She yelled at me.

"No we can't lead him. We cannot leave him!" I shouted but dad had me in the portal and it was too late.

We were in the basement of the earth home we purchased and it was morning here. The room was silent with the exception of my sobs.

"Whe- where is Ford?" Loire asked and at moms silent tears she understood our big brother was gone. Marina came over to me and held me as I cried into her arms. It was just the two of us now, she understood, Po, did too he walked over and cried with me. We were the first four kids. Everything we knew, ford taught us, anytime we were hurt, ford protected us. We lost something we can't replace.
