Author's Notes: Oh My! One chapter Left then on the part two,
I opened my eyes and stared at Rachel letting go of her hand quickly. “Is there more?” I asked her in a low voice.

“That was what he was thinking at the moment, I’m sure there is, why didn’t you tell me he was abused? By an alcoholic at that.” She said.

“Because he never told me. Well he did but he never brought it back up.” I covered my mouth and looked over at him and Kellie talking.

“We cant know. He doesn’t want us to. He doesn’t want anyone to know.” I turned back to her and said.

“Who would do that to a child. It not right.” Rachel said.

“We CANNOT know.” I hissed. “I mean it Rachel, don’t say or do anything to him.”

She nodded and walked the opposite way of me towards the ladies room. I returned to Blaine casually putting my arm around his waist protectively.

“That was a short dance,” Blaine said looking behind me for Rachel. “Where’d she go?”

"I have no idea, her phone rang," I lied.

"Phone? Where does a phone go in something like that," Kellie asked, Blaine covered his mouth as he snickered.

"You and Chandler both," I shook my head.

"Its not my fault she’s a flapper," Kellie said coolly.

"I like her," Blaine said.

"As do I." I said kissing Blaine’s cheek. "So how much longer until we can go home and I get my present." I asked in a seductive voice.

Blaine looked at me blushing a bit, "soon," he teased.

"Kurt," Aaron called, "you and I were at the 1919 Olympic, please tell Beth the Germans were cheating."

"The Olympics Kurt, I'm green with envy." Blaine smiled, "go talk to your friends, I'm going to find a bottle of water."

I talked forever about that swim meet and I would have gone on if Chandler didn't call the room to attention. Blaine was already making his way towards me as Chandler spoke, "Well what are we waiting for," he smiled and began the tired some tune of, "Happy Birthday to you." Blaine’s voice stood out mostly because he was right by me then Rachel but I also sung with her for 14 years so my ear just picks up her delicate alto. Waiters brought a large cake around with three question marks for numbers.

"Happy birthday to you!!"

"Make a wish!" Blaine said.

"You are my wish." I told him with a smile.

I turned and blew the candles out. "Cake time." Blaine sung as the waiters divide up the food.

"Blaine, I want to talk to you." Rachel said as Blaine got his red velvet cake.

"Nope," I said taking Blaine’s hand and pulling him away. Blaine laughed and threw an apology over his shoulder as we walked to an exit door that leads to the roof.

"Where are we going?" Blaine asked as we tracked up the stairs.

"It's getting stuffy downstairs I thought we could talk out here for a while." I said. I opened the door a set my hand on the small of his back guiding him out.

"Smells like rain," he said warmly, "I love the rain."

"What else do you love" I asked.

"Umm this cake," he joked taking a bite, “Taste,” he offered a small bite to me, smiling devilishly as I bit it.

“This is good,” I concluded, “come sit with me.” I pulled him over to the edge of the roof to sit. “I use to be afraid of heights?” I commented looking over to the empty street.

“You're not now,” Blaine said looking over with me.

“No I stopped mid 1940’s.” I said making him laugh and shake his head.

“That wasn’t that long ago. What changed your mind?”

“Rachel, she took me on an air plane and since I thought it was the most exciting thing in the world. Looking through the clouds to towns like being a bird.”

“Sounds fun.”

“It is, I'll take you one day, don’t worry,” I looked at the scab on his face and saw what he had gone through many years ago and the thinks he has been going through since, “What are you afraid of?”

“Everything…” he said quickly looking over at me.

“Oh come on, not everything scares you,” I said.

“Yes, I have seen way to many scary movies, little noise, spiders, Godzilla.” I snorted interrupting him. “Okay maybe not everything. But being with you, things have started to scare me less and less.”

“Like what?”

“Well my biggest fear was death.” He spoke in a low voice, “But you seem well, and your friends do too.”

“Why?” I asked. I’ve never met anyone who was actually afraid of dying. It seemed almost irrational since I was 4 and a half century’s old.

“Well I guess, I just don’t like the idea of not being able to wake up and see my mother again. And I’m afraid of what is after death.” He paused then shook his head. “being with you this last week and it made me realize I was more afraid of being alone forever, and I now know, that isn’t the case with you.”

I leaned over and kissed him softly, his breath staggering like anytime I kiss him only this time he put his hand on my cheek holding me to deepen the kiss.

I slowly pulled back, “Can we go home now?”

“Yes, we definitely can.”
