Blaine decided the best way to get Kurt out of his mind is to stop talking to or about him. If Kurt starts a conversation Blaine will end it, Cooper didn’t ask about him and Rachel just watched the whole situation from the sidelines.
Two days had passed and Blaine thought ignoring Kurt would be easier then expected. In the added class the group was writing more then singing so when Blaine went to the choir room he was surprised to see the pianist in the room as well. He sat down and will came in.
“Okay guys. Here’s what we are going to do.” He said, “Ms Tibideaux has decided I will teach you a lesson and you must perform it in front of her and I both. And just as an official congratulations is due for Tina and Wade earning a point each to their Student Performance Score.” Rachel patted Tina on the back and gave Wade a shining smile. “Good job you two. We are going to work on duets. Can I get a definition?”
“That’s elementary Mr shue, its when two people come together as one vocally.” Rachel said.
“Correct, so we are doing two rounds, first round you pick a partner and a song. Second round Ms. Tibideaux will pick the partner and musical genera.” Will said.
“Some of you look lost.” He said after a moment.
“I don't really know what the difference between a duet and back up singing. and there are so many types of duets, like when the two sing together or when they sing one part and the other person sings another. Could you explain it further or give an example.” Marley asked.
“I could, but this is peer teaching so, Rachel? Kurt? Santana? Do either of you have something?” He asked.
“Look no further Mr shue, Kurt.” Rachel stood up and looked at the crowd then Brad, “For Good (Watch) b flat please.”
He started and Rachel looked to Kurt and winked at him. “Limited, look at me, I’m limited.” Blaine adored Rachel’s voice and when Kurt started he had that feeling again. Blaine looked around the class instead of at Kurt, Marley looked amazed as did Ryder. Finn had his usual look of adoration as Rachel sung.
The two began to sing together and it was beautiful, the harmonizing sounded perfect, for one, they weren’t singing over each other which happens often in duet. secondly, Rachel was holding notes while Kurt sung in the same vocal rang. They ended and Rachel hugged him.
"So Marley, no matter how it is done, two people singing is a duet. most common duets are done as Kurt and I just did, however, singing the same song at the same time works, and like we did towards the end, different lyrics at the same time is a duet. you can also make any song a duet."
“Couldn't have said it better myself.Partner up, someone that isn’t in the same SPS range as you.” Will said.
Kurt walked up to Blaine, “I’ve been dying to sing with you ya know.”
“To bad we are in the same vocal grouping.” Blaine quickly said, he turned to Sam, “we should partner up.”
Kurt turned away and saw he was too late to find someone under his score rang. He was left with Quinn after the five minutes it took to find partners.
“Great, spend the rest of today practicing, meet in the auditorium tomorrow ready to go.” Will said.
“Dude! I swear, this morning I was watching TV and WHAM! Was on, those men had the best duets ever.” Sam said.
“Perfect! I mean personally Id rather do modern song but wham is cool.” Blaine said. He looked over his shoulder at Kurt, boy did he want to sing with him. “Lets practice.”
Sam went to Blaine’s house that afternoon and soon they became best friends. Blaine didn’t have any friend at McKinley and he was only friends with seniors his freshman year at Dalton. It was nice to watch a movie with someone other then his mom. Beverly liked Sam too, she thought he was funny and when he left she asked Blaine if he was just his friend or something more.
Blaine laughed, “he’s just my friend mom. There was a guy but it didn’t work out.”
“Well Sam can come over any time he wants.” She said walking to her office. Blaine went to his room and checked his face book. He gained almost 20 friends since starting papa, he was surprised when he had notifications these days. Rachel sent him a message about West Side Story and Kurt tried to start a conversation.
4:32pm Kurt: hey I need to talk to you.
8:17pm Blaine: about what?
8:20pm Kurt: I’m sorry about last week. I don’t want to date anyone but I really want to be your friend.
8:23pm Blaine: okay.
8:23pm Blaine: see you tomorrow
Blaine closed his computer and sighed. Kurt was so very confusing but Blaine had to admit, he did miss talking to Kurt. Blaine went to bed excited for what tomorrow had in store.
