At lunch that day Blaine looked for Kurt but didn’t see him around which made him think he was serious about flash mob in the library. Blaine sat with Sam and ate his lunch discussing the new class.
“I think you an I should work together the first second we get.” Sam said.
“Yeah dude, I don’t know much about music though. I’m a great actor and dancing is my thing but as for singing sucks because no one likes country.” Sam explained.
“I like it, well, my mom does. i know a lot of country but i couldn't pull it off, not as well as you do at lease. Besides you're a football stud, you don’t need a singing scholarship to get into college, you've got that killer arm.” Blaine said.
Sam grinned, “I see way everyone likes you Blaine, you are way to nice.”
“They like me here?” Blaine joked. “I'm going to see what my brother is up too but I will see you in the morning, Sam.”
“Bye Blaine,” Sam said.
As Blaine walked back to Cooper's when Kurt stopped him. “Hey Blaine.” Kurt said less chipper then usual.
“Hey, this morning was crazy right. I have no idea why Wade doesn't perform more.” Blaine said.
“Because he is going through an identity crisis.” Kurt said coldly. “Sorry but I'm not even a little impressed with his work. Or anyone’s work today, I wanted Elton john and lady GaGa to kick Ryder's ass on that stage after that performance. ”
“Are you okay?” Blaine asked. normally if Kurt didn't like a performance or an opinion he would calmly say something grandmotherly, 'it was something different.' or
'Not really my cup of tea but someone enjoyed it.'
“What’s wrong, you know I always have an extra ear to loan go you.” Blaine said.
“That’s the thing Blaine, I don’t want to see you.” He chose the words very particularly. “This is my senior year and I need to be sure I’m ready for college and these past two weeks of flirting is mostly time wasted because none of it will matter at the end of the year.”
“I feel like you’re breaking up with me, only we never dated.” Blaine said slowly.
“I am, I’m sorry. I just need to use spare time, and sitting with you is nice but ” Kurt said and walked past Blaine. “I can’t do it anymore.”
Blaine stood there numb for a few minutes before dragging his feet into coopers class. Coopers feet were kicked back up on the table as he read through a screen play. “So, I’m going home.” Blaine started.
Cooper gave him a face over the top of the book, “and why is that?”
“Well Kurt just told me he no longer wanted to be with me. But we aren’t even together. He just dumped me in the hall.” Blaine said. “And I really can’t ignore him if I go to English today. And I can’t go to theater because he will be there writing up the call back list. And I’m practically in love with the guy and he doesn’t want anything to do with me.”
“Don’t be a girl about this.” Cooper said sitting up setting his book aside. Blaine was growing angry and flustered.
“No I am going to be a girl about this. I’m never a girl about shit, this is mine to bitch about. What did I do?” Blaine threw his hands up.
“You said he saw an ex at dinner.” Cooper said.
“Yeah, I guess that was it.” Blaine sat down. “Now I have to pretend to get over him. And I mean, we have things but we were never official.”
“Well then don’t skip the rest of the day, tell him you are upset.” Cooper said.
“I don’t even know what to say. I just want to sit at home and watch old musicals.” Blaine said.
“You need to tell him how you feel. I might not have been here long but these papa boys are pain in the asses and can’t see things outside of their future careers. If you want to date Kurt get some courage and ask him.” Cooper said.
“If anyone asks where I am will you cover for me?” Blaine asked in such a sad tone it sounded like he was begging.
“You ate the cafeteria food,” Cooper said mildly upset that Blaine really was sad. Blaine walked out to his car and drove home. Luckily everyone was out of the house so he went to his bedroom threw on his favorite pajamas and popped in hairspray and lied at the end of his bed watching it. After that he threw in rent and cried a little. He heard his mom come home and start preparing dinner so he cut that movie off and go say hello to her.
“Hey Blaine, you never beat me home.” She said with a smile, “are you eating dinner with us?”
“Yeah,” his voice cracked and he cleared his voice.
“Are you okay, you look like you were crying.” She asked concerned.
“Rent was on logo, I shouldn’t have watched it, it gets me everytime.” Blaine said.
“Rent is always on logo, and you own it. Don’t go making yourself upset. Put a movie on down here. I love that one when john travolta was the handsome Singer with Olivia Newton-john isn’t it grease or something.” Beverly asked.
“Ill bring it down.” Blaine said returning upstairs to his bedroom. His phone was ringing, it was Kurt. “Hello?” Blaine answered.
“Hey, you got Tony, no call back needed, some of the theater majors are upset cause you’re new but everyone is very excited. Cast list goes up Wednesday.” Kurt said quickly.
“Okay. I’m a little busy. See you tomorrow.” Blaine was about to hang up.
“Wait quick question, tomorrow at that thing in second, should I sing everything coming up for rose, or as if we never said good bye?” Kurt asked.
Blaine shook his head, “I don’t know, I never really liked gypsy. Do which ever one you want.”
“O-kay.” Kurt said, “bye….” Blaine’s hung up the phone and left his phone upstairs.
He and Beverly watched grease Cooper joined after the first 30 minutes. Blaine didn’t talk during the movie but he sung every part Sandra Dee sung. Michael returned home from work and got cleaned up for dinner.
Blaine and Cooper helped set the table, “everyone asked about you?”
“I don’t want to talk about school tonight.” Blaine said taking his seat as Beverly brought food to the table.
Cooper went to the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of wine and a glass of juice for Blaine.
Dinner started off quiet until Michael asked Blaine, “did you get into that play you’ve been dying to join.”
“I did.” Blaine said reluctantly taking a drink of juice.
“You don’t seem to thrilled about it. You were ready to storm the Allen county public school building fighting until McKinley got a play.” Micheal said.
“Blaine has a lot on his plate now. His dance teacher has been telling me how he is learning lifts and partnering, she says he is really good for his first time.” Cooper interrupted, “he was also selected for an elite trial group, only 12 students from the whole school participate.”
“Good.” Michael said, “if you’re going to stay at that school I need you to be the best. Befriend the best, date the best, if you can’t be my protgs, then be a better actor then your brother.”
“Michael,” Beverly warned.
“Well its true, Cooper I’m sorry son but you’re 25 and have 2 minor rolls in B movies and a few tv appearances. Blaine, come home with an Emmy or don’t come home at all.” Micheal laughed, “is it an Emmy or a Tony. hell get both and a Grammy too.”
Cooper and Beverly let out a soft chuckle but were concerned.
“Yes sir.” Blaine said. He took another bite of food before he spoke, “I have the lead male role, I should go practice.”
“Clear your plate.” Michael ordered.
Blaine took his plate and cup to the kitchen and wrinced them off. He went to his bedroom and started playing Millie. He was just confused, Kurt was fine before the weekend and after just lost it.
Blaine tried to focus on his homework but Kurt was on his mind no matter what it was. He wrote his character back story for Tony and why he fell in love with Maria, finished his English paper on Shakespeare’s midsummer’s night dream. He didn't bother practicing his dance since he didn’t even go to class that day. He knew he had to pick a song to perform for Ms Tibideaux. She said she wanted to see his true colors. Blaine put his favorite Katy Perry CD One Of The Boys. He considered singing Hot and Cold to Kurt. ?Thinking Of You was playing and Cooper knocked on the door.
“Come in,” Blaine called out casually. Cooper entered at sat in Blaine’s bed.
“Still doing homework?”
“No, I finished early. I’m working on Ms Tibideaux’s project. I have to perform and sing what I dream of always singing.” Blaine said.
“Okay what song is that.”
“Honestly, I have no idea. I’m not the hero in musicals I’m the heroine. But I’m already type casted big strong male leads, and every other gay in the school is this fragile Sandra Dee.” Blaine said.
“The way I see it, Carmen wants you to be the heroine.” Cooper said, “true colors not what the school has type casted you. And as far as gay boys go, you are more like rizzo everything but fragile.”
“You’re right…” Blaine said. Mannequin started playing and Blaine smiled, “I know what I’m going to sing.”
“Goodnight little brother.” Cooper said standing up leaving.
“Hey I’m sorry about earlier, I didn’t mean to freak out on you.” Blaine quickly said.
“Don’t worry about it.” Cooper said walking out the door. Blaine didn’t need to practice so he climbed I’m bed and finish his movies.
