As Blaine’s day was coming to an end he was sent to the choir room to meet with the administration in charge of the autumn assembly. Blaine saw all the teacher at his audition and then a few others. He also saw Rachel Santana and Kurt, the three tens. It made him more nervous then before. Even worse when Kurt smiled and whispered something to Rachel which caused her to smile as well.
“Take a seat Blaine you’re not in trouble.” Will shuester, the dean of performance and founder, coach, of the new directions nationally ranked show choir team.
Blaine sat down at the table and smiled, “why am I here then?” He asked shyly.
“One we wanted to congratulate you on your first day of school, and show you how happy we are that you’re now a part of a winning team.” April Rhodes, Broadway teacher exclaimed.
“Thank you. I’m really looking forward to a rewarding year here.” Blaine said.
“Now after your audition several of us wanted you to perform tomorrow evening at the autumn gala where the school faculty, board members, investor and trustees see our best students.” Will said. “After much consideration, we thought this was a great idea but, before the evening events we want you to perform at the student staff and family afternoon show.”
“I would be honored to perform at both events.” Blaine said seeing Kurt and Rachel smile.
“Excellent, I look forward to seeing two sides of you Blaine, the students behind us by the way are here to help you. You have this room until 3.” Sue Sylvester cheer coach said standing up.
Blaine was in a mild shock as the 6 teachers left him with the 10’s. “Hiya.”
“Hi Blaine how were classes?” Rachel asked moving chairs out of her way.
“Exciting and extreme.” Blaine said. “Its hard to think this is how the rest of my school year will be.”
“Oh you’ll get tired of it after a week or two..” Santana said.
“Its best from up here though. I’ve had a ton of fun since I became a 10.” Kurt said. Rachel nodded in agreement, “it is fun.” Santana shook her head and sat back in her chair.
“So Blaine, basically the assembly you can do what ever you want with who ever you want just entertain. And at the gala, sing a ballad that will make people cry and give the school money.” Kurt said quickly.
“Wow, Kurt, well put together.” Santana said. “But the assembly is more like, here are performers acting their age. and the gala look how well we can pull strings.”
“Both of you. This is Blaine’s first everything, what if Jesse told us this on our first public performance?” Rachel said both we silent. “Exactly.”
“Its fine Rachel,” Blaine said. “Just tell me what I need to do to do my best.”
“Well, firstly we have the assembly to worry about. Of the three major themes this school is founded on, the best of the class all around best not category best, perform to show what we can expect throughout the season. I have order of introduction here;" Rachel turned to a page in her note book and read over it quickly before speaking. "Dance is split into two. The first part Santana, Brittany, and the Cheerios have 25 minutes, why?” Rachel asked.
“Oh, Brittany and I are doing a kick ass performance to show off the Cheerios skills. Quinn just had her wisdom teeth removed and wont be performing. Britt opens with Who Runs the World to introduced the coach and the team, then her and I we perform Me Against the Music to show off her dancing skills and I close with Nutbush City Limits as a homage to coach on her 10 years here.” Santana gave a catty grin.
“Okay… next the thespians are set to perform a little something something. Kurt, what does Ms. Rhodes have?” Rachel asked.
“I’m doing Not The Boy Next Door. But its great cause I start with Phantom of the Opera.” Kurt said. “Its about 10 minutes all together.
“I love your gold skinny's.” She said, “as for musicians Finn and Puck are playing a game in Akron with the rest of the 80’s rock boys so Blaine you play the piano, can you do queen?”the way she spoke it was like she was flirting with him.
“Of course. How did you know… never mind.” Blaine shook his head and kissed his privacy goodbye. ”I can do Don’t Stop Me Now.” Blaine said.
“Great, Mr. Shue loves that song.” Rachel said, “as for me, Brody Weston and I have been practicing A Change Will Do You Good for Ms. July’s advanced Broadway dance course.”
“I saw that performance of Oops … I Did It Again, I thought it was hot, in a sluty-I’m-sleeping-with-the-teacher kind of way.” Santana snickered.
Rachel flushed with color, “wow, Santana normally you’re just a bitch but saying something like that can jeopardize that mans job. He was simply helping me. Wow. Besides Finn and I are considering getting back together.”
“What ever you say sweetie. No judgement if you are. You can tell me. I mean I’d tell Brittany but that’s it.”
“Oh my god. No I’m not, I’m with Finn. I think. Not now Satan.” Rachel said flustered. “Blaine, do you need help with anything else?”
“No, I'm fine Rachel.” Blaine said .
“good I find this meeting adjourned, after the assembly we will discuss the gala.” Rachel stood up just as the school bell rang. Kurt and Santana laughed as she walked out the door. Brody was practically waiting for her which made the two laugh harder.
They stood up, “if you need anything ask your teacher William shuester. He’s here for you.” Santana said.
Brittany walked in with a smile, “hey you.” She said pecking Santana's cheek. They hooked pinky's and walked out leaving Blaine and Kurt.
Kurt got to the door and just watched for a second, Quinn and Noah walked by hand in hand followed by Ryder and Marley cuddled close as well. Mike was holding Tina’s books as they walked out the school. Even Sam was flirting with Mercedes At her locker.
“You okay?” Blaine asked.
“No. I just realized I’m single at the worst time of the year. Next to Valentine’s days, October is the month where the most people start dating.” Kurt said. He looked at Blaine and shook his head, “not that it matters, that bastard was cheating on me.”
“My boyfriend and I broke up a few months ago, I just let him go though. He was off to college and I’m still here.” Blaine said.
“Is it wrong of me to want someone that makes me feel alive.” Kurt said watching couple after couple pass.
“Of course not, that’s what being human is all about.” Blaine said. “Finding someone who makes you alive.”
“No kidding… I’ll see you tomorrow.” Kurt rushed off heading strait to the parking lots. Blaine sighed. He did need help but he wasn’t going to look for that teacher so he just went home and hoped for the best.
