“Well they came all this way and are standing in the cold, let's give them one pretty picture." Kurt said. He waved at the flashing camera and the man waved and smiled back shouting congratulations. Kurt turned Blaine and pressed a delicate kiss to his lips before taking his hand and walking inside.
Quinn was grinning wide at the door as they stepped into the lobby, "You two look wonderful, are you ready? It's a full house out there." Quinn waved Santana over and helped Rachel off the couch.
"Quinn walked through the doors and the music ended softly as she began to speak.” Thank you all so much for coming out tonight. My name is Quinn and I am best friends with one groom, and recording partners with the other. I was one of three to witnesses this marriage so I think that qualifies me as the MC. When two people get married they do it for several reasons, my parents did it because it was the right thing to do at that moment in their lives, my wife and I did it because we loved each other and it just became legal in another four states. But Kurt and Blaine, they got married because despite everything everyone ever told them, they love each other. I've seen it time and time again,” Quinn paused and sniffled, “when I want to give an example of love I know I can just look to Kurt and Blaine, and at any given moment of their lives they love each other."
There was an applause break and Quinn started up again. "Rachel Berry-Fabrey as Kurt’s maid of honor and Santana Lopez as Blaine’s best woman. " the two entered gaining their applause as they took a seat at the ends of the table. “Without their love we wouldn't be gathered here tonight, misters Kurt and Blaine Anderson. " everyone stood as Kurt and Blaine walked in. The couple received applause as they walked, almost one hundred of their friends from the last 17 years of their relationship was there tonight proud to see them finally married.
They took their seat both turning to their girls and hugging them before turning to each other and sharing a kiss.
"Kurt has planned such an amazing night for us but while explained to me what the itinerary looked like he made sure everyone ate before any events occurred. Nothing is worse than being hungry and crying exact quote. Enjoy your meal. “Quinn walked to sit on Rachel right as servers brought out the food.
Music played softly as dinner was served, and Kurt was shocked to see his parents trying to get in. Blaine noticed Kurt freeze and followed his gauze seeing them talking with the hotel security. "What do you want to do?“ Blaine asked softly rubbing Kurt’s back.
“I don't know, I'm not really sure if I care. I want them here but I'm still too angry to talk to them." Kurt said.
"I'll go talk to them," Blaine said kissing Kurt’s forehead and leaving the table. Blaine approached security clearing his throat, "is everything alright? "
"Mr. Anderson, they have provided proof they are your partner’s parents but I have strict rules not to allow anyone in from both the groom and the master of ceremonies. "
"Give me just a minute with them." Blaine said, the security walked out of hearing range but still saw everything that was going on.
"What are you doing here?" Blaine asked frankly.
"Well honestly, you were all over our television the last week and we thought we should come by congratulate you maybe have a dance." Carol said.
"Last time we spoke you told Kurt he couldn't marry me. You can't just show up and expect either of us to forget it." Blaine said.
"What would you do Blaine?" Burt asked. "You have a son or daughter and the person they love with everything in them is not good from them. What would you do?" Burt asked.
"I'd trust them to make the right choice, and be there with waiting arms if it went sour, but pray every night that it never does." Blaine said, "Kurt is still mad, but I'm not, I get that you two don't like me anymore. It happens all the time in my life I really don't want you here but in the long run when I look back at this day I'd like some type of parental figure at my wedding. My music teacher came and he was nice enough to speak in place of my father." Blaine said shrugging. "Kurt doesn't want you here as his parents but I want you here as guests. "
"Thank you." Carol said, Blaine led the way inside and sat the old two in a corner before returning to sit next to his husband. "They are just guests, they have nothing to say but they felt wrong for not being here." Blaine explained.
"Fine with me, let's just eat and dance and be happy."
They did just that, after eating they danced with their maid of honor and best woman. And Quinn played a few games with the crowd including guessing how many beans were in a jar which Jim Glencoe later won. Then came Rachel's speech, " my beautiful wife has prepared a speech for her best friend so Rachel the floor is yours." Quinn said handing the Mic to Rachel kissing her cheek.
"I have known Kurt technically all my life, we live in a small town and we went to elementary school, middle school, and high school together. I remember being in his second grade class and being over joyed when it was his day for snacks because his mother made a chocolate tart that I still fantasize about. But we were never friends, no middle school he didn't talk to anyone and I was too busy with dance competitions and singing lessons to talk to him. Freshmen year I tried to talk to him, but it wasn't til we were crushing on the same guy sophomore year that we actually started talking." The room laughed as Kurt blushed and buried his face in his hands. Blaine waved at Finn as Rachel continued her speech.
"Now that talking was more along the lines of Kurt telling me he was better than me and me proving to him he was not. I got the boy and the solos, Kurt Hummel for all intensive purposes hated me. And then he met Blaine, it was like Romeo and Juliet, Blaine lived in Westerville and when to a privet school, and provided Kurt with one thing he needed protection. We sung a duet that first week they met. Happy Days/ Come On Let's Get Happy. If I had to pin point the moment where we became friends it was in that duet. Sure he went back to hating me after I went out on a date with Blaine, but he hated me because I had the courage to ask out the boy he was in love with. That time I didn't get the boy, and Kurt had a solo himself so it was even better. Skip four years to their first big fight, I was not happy with it at all. They broke up for a week and a half, Kurt gave me everything that he had from Blaine and told me to burn it. I didn't and tonight, I thought you might want it back. So that's what is in my gift box. You two already do everything a married couple do, love each other in sickness and health rich or poor, when Blaine is wrong, and Kurt shouldn't be right. I love it the relationship you two have makes me jealous and hopeful. I love Quinn but to have a love that you two share is indescribable and you have nothing my happiness for you two and the rest of your life." Rachel whipped her tears, and raised her glass to the couple, "to Kurt and Blaine."
Rachel gave Quinn the Mic and Kurt a tight hug and Blaine a kiss on the cheek. "That was beautiful, Santana if you would come up," Quinn passed the microphone and Santana cleared her throat.
"I don't know what moment Blaine and I became best friend. When he transferred to McKinley I thought, oh look a buff nerd, you don't see these very often I should be his friend. We all accepted Blaine because he was Kurt’s boyfriend but I accepted Blaine because he was sunshine just like my Brittany. We both went to Ohio State University, and I was there for him while Kurt was in New York with Rachel, by his side every lonely night because Brittany was away from me too so I knew. And every once and a while we'd go to scandals and have a good gay bar laugh but I never see him happier then when he is with Kurt. We lost touch like all adults do but when I was getting my usual at Starbucks and saw his single as the sing of the week I rushed on the next plan back to Ohio to see how the hell this happens without me. Oh I bought the song and cd though. I was actually surprised to see them still together still stronger than ever, that was ten years ago, I wasn't at all surprised last week when I got the call they were getting married get your ass to the court house. I saw the vows, I saw the love I saw the future Blaine promised Kurt. I can't wait to get the next call about babies and birthdays. To Kurt and Blaine, may the rest of your life be full of happiness and excitement. " Santana toasted Quinn to the Mic and hugged Santana before she returned to the table and hugged Kurt and Blaine.
"I wanted to give a speech but I figured since Blaine and I are both performers I'd sing a song, then Blaine asked me to sing their first dance song. Here is a bit of a prelude, I saw their first dance as boyfriend junior prom Kurt won queen and king refused to dance with him, and that was the first time I saw Blaine as the knight in shining Armor Kurt still sees him as. So here is their first dance as a married couple." everyone clapped as Quinn walked to the piano and Kurt and Blaine walked to the dance floor.
Kurt began to lead a slow waltz as Blaine melted into his side listening to Quinn’s voice sing the timeless classic I can't help falling in love by Elvis Presley. "Wise men say only fools rush in, but I can't help falling in love with you, Shall I stay, would it be a sin, if I can't help falling in love with you."
"I love you so much Blaine," Kurt whispered to Blaine, " you make me so proud to be yours."
"I shouldn't be this happy Kurt," Blaine said so quiet Kurt barely heard him over Quinn.
"Like a river flows surely to the sea, Darling so it goes, Some things are meant to be, So take my hand, and take my whole life too, Cause I can't help falling in love with you." Quinn sung beautifully but Kurt stopped paying attention to her and just to Blaine.
"What do you mean darling?" Kurt asked.
"I just have this sick feeling that I don't deserve to be this happy and it's going to all end soon." Blaine said before resting his head on Kurt blinking away a few tears.
"You don't have to think about it. The way I see it all the bad things happened first so nothing but wonderful things will happen to us now." Kurt said kissing Blaine’s temple.
"Like a river flows so surely to the sea, Oh my darling so it goes, Some things are meant to be, So won't you please take my hand, and take my whole life too, Cause I can't help falling in love, in love with you, “Quinn held the note as Blaine looked up and kissed Kurt causing several cameras to flash. "Because I can't help falling in love, falling in love, I keep falling in love with you. " Quinn played the piano longer noticing Kurt hand no intentions of letting Blaine go so she sung the chorus once more.
Quinn stopped and the room clapped bringing Kurt and Blaine back to the simple reality in front of them. "No point in stopping, I've got more songs, find a partner and dance ladies and gentlemen." Quinn began to play again only she didn't sing Santana and the pianist approached her and trained places allowing Quinn to dance with Rachel. Santana sung a lovey rendition of At Last.
"I really hope you are right, I'd like nothing but nice things from here out." Blaine said.
"I'm always right Blaine." Kurt smiled and danced with Blaine for another song before sitting down and hearing more toast and speeches.
"It’s already been made clear that this isn't a normal wedding, so in place of the blessing from the parents, right now we have-" Quinn was suddenly cut off.
"Excuse me, I've got something to say. " Burt began walking to the stage and Quinn looked to Kurt for an answer. Kurt shook his head at first before just mouthing yes. Kurt regretfully just want to know what he would say. They should have done it in privet but Kurt knew this was Burt’s only time where Kurt would listen.
"Burt Hummel," Quinn said a handing off the Mic, there was an awkward applause before Burt started.
"When Kurt was a little boy his mother took him to his first wedding. It was the last big event before Elisabeth got sick. I've taken him a lot of places but I've never seen him happier then when he is at a wedding. It was nice to finally see Him in the spot light." Burt said getting a small clap break.
"Please be done." Kurt muttered so only Blaine could hear him.
"I've been thinking a lot about Kurt’s mom, she always knew what to say and when to say it, I'm so glad Kurt took after her with that one. They both see the world with such purity. Always seeing the good and the right of people who didn't quite deserve to be viewed that way. " Blaine put his hand around Kurt and rubbed his back tenderly as they both listened to Burt.
"You know when a daughter gets married the father has to realize there is another man in her life that makes her happier than he had. I never understood it, I was the youngest of three boys. I only had sons, but today watching Kurt dance with Blaine I saw it. That spark in his eyes, Kurt has been all grown up for a long time, but tonight I really see that my little boy is a man. A man that didn't need his father’s advice anymore. Normally we should be proud of this moment, and I am, I just miss my little boy." Burt's voice cracked, "congratulations you two." He spoke before returning the Mic to Quinn.
There was a soft applause as Burt returned to his seat. Kurt looked over at Blaine and saw a few tears rolling down his cheek. Kurt wiped them away with his hand then kissed his cheek muttering, "I love you so much." In his ear. Blaine nodded his head and smiled to Kurt but the tears kept rolling. Blaine leaned his head on Kurt's shoulder and tried to listen to Quinn introduce his music teacher but his mind was lost in the past.
When he and Kurt were young so full of hope and happiness. He doesn't understand how he kept Kurt so long. Even as Kurt rubbed his back, Blaine just wanted to hold in to him and hope he never let go.
