"Let's welcome Kurt back everyone!" Mr. Schuester announced the following Monday.
A brief round of applause followed this, and as Kurt glanced at the students in front of him, he couldn't help but notice a pair of warm hazel eyes smiling at him.
"You should sing!" Sam commented from beside Blaine.
"Yeah, we miss hearing your pretty voice," Mercedes added.
Simply shaking his head, Kurt said, "no, not today." He slid into the seat on the opposite side of Blaine, who beamed at him.
Blaine placed a hand on his knee and said, "I'm proud of you."
"Yeah?" Kurt cocked an eyebrow at him.
He nodded, "I know you've been wanting to come back. You missed them... After everything you've been through, you really needed this."
Mr. Schuester said, "Kurt, I know we're pretty safe with you in our hands, but you should know that we're approaching Sectionals in two weeks, and you've really got to work hard while you're in here, okay? We've been working at this for a while, and I'm pretty confident we'll dominate Sectionals. Are you up for the challenge?"
Kurt nodded, "absolutely."
Hand shooting in the air, Rachel said, "wait, you're not, like, giving him my solo, right?"
Mr. Schuester shook his head, "no, Rachel. I'm not going to do that to you now. It's too close to the competition. We're all set on who's singing what."
As Rachel relaxed into her chair, Santana spat, 'oh, please, even if we had all auditioned for a spot in Sectionals, Berry would hzve gotten it anyway. Hummel doesn't stand a chance."
"Thanks, Santana," Kurt muttered.
Blaine squeezed his knee, "don't take it personally. She tells everyone that at least once a day."
After fighting about solos, Rachel singing a solo, and a lecture about Sectionals, Kurt and Blaine left the choir room together and made their way into the hall. As Kurt piled books into his bag, Blaine watched him with a smile on his face, "I liked seeing you in the choir room."
"Why?" Kurt asked, cramming his mathbook into his backpack.
Blaine replied, "because you just looked happy. I mean, you weren't, like, jumpy or constantly having to look over your shoulder. I've seen you in these halls for weeks now, Kurt, I know how you are. even today, you've been skittish. But in there, you didn't have anything to worry about. You were with people you could trust. It was nice to see you ot of your usual fearful attitude."
"Thanks, Blaine," he said, shouldering his bag. "It felt... good to be back there. The glee club was the only thing that got me through last year. It's the one place here I feel welcome."
They made their way down the hall to leave, when he heard someone say his name in a room to his left. "Kurt? can we... talk for a minute?"
It was Rachel.
He sighed, "what?"
She bit her lip, "I'm sorry about before... trying to pressure you to stay in glee. You were going through a lot, and I shouldn't have pressued you to do anything. I was just worried about you and wanted to help." Tucking a piece of hair behind her ear, she said, "and I'm also gald to ahve you back in glee."
He gave her a weak smile, "it's okay... I'm sorry I was so harsh with you too." He hesitated before adding. "Come over this Friday night, and we'll look into applying for NYADA, okay?"
"I'd like that, Kurt," Rachel replied.
Just as Kurt ripped his bowtie from his shirt and tossed it on the ground, Blaine leaned forward and kissed him. "You're more forceful when you're less stressed," he mumbled.
"Shut up and kiss me," Kurt breathed through their locked lips, his tongue sliding into Blaine's mouth.
"Damn, Kurt,' Blaine said, his fingers digging into Kurt's back.
Tearing at the buttons of Blaine's shirt, Kurt said, "you talk too much."
Blaine smiled, "is that a problem?"
Leaning in to kiss him again, he replied, "no... I love the sound of your voice." His lips moved down Blaine's body, stopping at his smooth chest. He kissed Blaine's skin, and Blaine closed his eyes.
When Kurt's body rose from his a little, Blaine's eyes flew open and he looked at Kurt, who was now sitting over him. "What?" Blaine asked.
"Does my mood really reflect yours that much?" he asked.
Sitting up enough to lean on his elbows, Blaine said, "Kurt, you had the threat of the jocks hovering over you today, but they didn't. You knew that Karofsky couldn't hurt you. You knew that, because it's been so soon since you chased him out of the school, they weren't going to hurt you. You were scared today, I could tell, but I could also tell that it wasn't as scary for you. You were just... better. I realy liked seeing that in you."
"Why?" Kurt asked.
"Because you have a beautiful smile, and I wish I could see more of it," Blaine told him.
Giving him a smile, Kurt pushed himself back down on Blaine and deeply kissed him. "Blaine..." he whispered.
Wrapping his arms arond Kurt tightly, Blaine said, "Have I ever told you how much I care about you?"
"Remind me?" Kurt asked.
Still holding him more tightly, Blaine moved his lips down to Kurt's neck and kissed every inch of skin he could find. "I... really.. care... about... you..." he hissed between each gentle kiss.
Moaning, Kurt said, "Gosh, how did I get lucky enough to find someone like you?"
"I was wondering the same thing," Blaine replied.
A few more moments passed, before Kurt rolled off of Blaine and landed next to him, quickly taking Blaine's hand in his. He was panting heavily and he looked a little pale. Blaine looked into his eyes and said, "are you okay?"
Kissing his forehead, Kurt asked, "why wouldn't I be?"
Blaine shrugged, "I just want to make sure... I know you're still sensitive about this whole Karofsky thing, and I just want to make sure we're not pushing anything." He traced his finger along Kurt's bare chest and Kurt shivered against him.
He was quiet for a moment, never taking his blue eyes from Blaine's, before he said, "Blaine, it's different with you... You're comforting, you're like a safe place to me. Thinking of Karofsky and what... he did to me, it still haunts me, and I hate it. However, that doesn't mean I feel scared when I'm with you. I like being with you. I know you're not going to push me or hurt me."
"Are you sure?" Blaine asked.
Squeezing his hand, Kurt whispered, "I trust you."
That phrase made Blaine's stomach clench, like he wasn't really sure he believed that Kurt could trust him so easily, after everything he had been through, but Blaine wanted to trust him enough to believe it.
Something wet lightly hit Blaine's forehead, and for a second, he thought Kurt was crying. "What's wrong?" he asked.
As a couple more drops hit his face, and Kurt pulled away from him, he responded with, "nothing's wrong... it's raining."
The sky was dark with storm clouds and the rain started to pick up a little. "Oh shit," Blaine jumped to his feet. "We should head home." He reached down for the blanket on the ground, but Kurt grabbed his wrist. Blaine looked up at him, "what?"
Kurt shook his head, "don't worry about it. Just... come here," he pulled Blaine close to him and pressed his lips to Blaine firmly. "Let's just enjoy this moment," he mumbled.
The rain picked up and they were soon soaking wet, but Blaine was so lost in Kurt's embrace that he didn't even care. He passionately kissed him until he felt dizzy. He finally had to break apart from Kurt and laughed, "I don't think I've ever seen your hair so flat."
Running a hand through Blaine's hair, Kurt said, "I don't think I've ever seen yours so frizzy." His smile widened and he gave the curls a soft tug, as Blaine's lips found his neck.
by this point, the rain was pouring, and Blaine finally said, "we really should go." He let go of Kurt and grabbed the blanket. It was drenched and Blaine mentally told himself to throw it in the dryer when he got home. He made his way over to the ladder, which Kurt was already half way down. "Here, catch!" He tossed the blanket down to Kurt and swung his leg over the side of the building.
"Be careful! it's slippery," Kurt warned him.
That warning would have been effective, if Kurt had yelled it a second before. Blaine's foot slipped halfway down the ladder. He tried groping for a bar to grasp, but his fingers couldn't grab anything, and he fell quickly to the ground.
Pain shot through his back, just before his head hit the ground, and he cried out. He felt Kurt's hands cradle his head as he said, "shit. Blaine, are you okay? Can you hear me?"
In response, Blaine groaned loudly. Rain continued to hit his face and he closed his eyes, turning his face away from it. "I'm... fine."
Kurt brushed back the wet hair off his forehead, "are you sure?"
"Yeah. That just... really hurt. Can you help me up?" he asked.
Kurt's hands positioned themselves around him and he slowly lifted Blaine into a standing position. "Not the smartest move you've made," Kurt smiled weakly. Blaine swayed on the spot and Kurt steadied him, asking, "are you sure you're okay?"
Holding on to Kurt's shoulder for support, Blaine said, "yeah... I'll just be sore for a few days, but I'm okay."
"Should we make a trip to the hospital?" Kurt asked.
Answering too quickly, Blaine almost shouted, "no!" When Kurt raised his eyebrows, he told him, "my mom would just... freak. Really, I'm fine."
"Do you need me to drive home then?" Kurt asked, sounding worried.
"Couldn't hurt," Blaine told him.
With that, Kurt helped Blaine into the passenger seat of his car, tossed the blanket in the back and started the car. He looked at Blaine and said, "I'll take you home and have Finn pick me up, okay?"
Leaning his head back against his seat, Blaine said, "mm... I guess we could do that." He didn't like the idea, because his mom would worry, if she was home, but he didn't want to move more than he had to, so heading home seemed like the logical thing to do.
Pulling out of the abandoned parking lot, Kurt took his time driving to Blaine's house. The rain was heavy, making it difficult to see anything on the road. It took a little longer than normal to get there, and he kept stealing anxious glances in Blaine's direction Blaine hardly noticed, because he kept his eyes shut as his head throbbed painfully..
When he cut the engine, he turned to face Blaine and said, "I'll help you." He quickly ran around the car to open Blaine's door and pulled him from his seat. Blaine groaned and Kurt kissed him. "Are you sure you're okay?" kurt asked again.
Blaine only nodded. He felt tired and sore, and he just wanted to crawl into bed. He felt Kurt's hand on the small of his back and winced but dind't protest.
Once they were inside the house, Blaine told him, "I think I'll just stay down here tonight. I don't really feel like walking all the way upstairs..."
They sat down on the couch together and Kurt said, "can I get you anything?"
"No, no. Kurt, I'm fine," he wasn't going to have Kurt serving him in his own house. "Just... can you grab an extra blanket from the closet for me?"
As Kurt got up from the couch, Blaine decided to lie down and get comfortable. He closed his eyes. he definitely felt more sore now then when he first had fallen off the ladder. It wasn't even the pain that bothered him, it was his mother's reaction to his incident. She was not going to take it very well.
Warmth spread through him as Kurt gently laid the blanket over him. "I brought you a pillow too," he said, tucking it behind Blaine's head. "Though... I can't really imagine the couch being all that comfortable for your back." He brushed a piece of wet hair off Blaine's forehead.
Blaine shivered. "I'm alright," he mumbled.
Gently pressing his lips to Blaine's forehead, Kurt said, "I'm gonna text Finn and tell him to come pick me up, okay? Will you be fine until your mom gets home?"
"Yeah... fine," Blaine felt exhaustion taking over his body. He could hardly think straight anymore... He was just so tired...
"What the hell is going on here?" a voice made Kurt jump from his sleep.
On he couch above him, Blaine also jumped from his sleep, moaning from his quick movement. He pulled his hand out of Kurt's grasp, and Kurt's hand flopped to the floor in a loud thud.
Kurt sat bolt upright, looking around the room for the source of the voice. it was still fairly dark. How much time had actually passed?
A light switched on and Blaine's mother stood there, wearing faded jeans and a light brown t--shirt, with an odd expression on her face. "Blaine?"
Slowly pulling himself into a sitting position, Blaine hissed. "damn. Okay..." He looked down at Kurt, sitting on the floor and his eyes widened. "I thought Finn was taking you home?"
Untangling himself from the blanket, Kurt got to his feet, "he was... I text him hours ago, and he said he'd be here but then he never showed... I don't know what happened. I waited and waited, and eventually, I figured he wasn't coming, so I grabbed a blanket and figured he'd call if he got here."
"Do you need a ride home?" Blaine's mother asked.
"Mom, no." Blaine said sternly. "You're drunk, I know. You're in no condition to drive. Just head up to bed, I'll drop him off in the morning before school, so he can get a fresh outfit."
Taking a better look at Blaine's mother, Kurt saw that she did look quite unsteady. Her eyes were unfocused and she stumbled, as she walked forward. "Fine... take him home in the morning." She stumbled off toward the stairs, without another word.
"Does that happen often?" Kurt asked in response to the annoyed expression on Blaine's face.
Blaine sighed, lying down again. "Unfortunately yes. She's been a mess, and like me, she takes her frustrations out on trying to forget the world. I'll admit, it's a problem. But lately, she's just been coming home drunk more and more, and it worries me... She's always so stressed about what I'm doing and making sure I'm okay, but I'm just as worried about her."
"I'm sorry," Kurt said, not really knowing what else to say.
Blaine looked down at him, "it's okay... I'm sorry you ended up sleeping on the floor. You don't have to stay there, you know. You can go claim my bed if you want to."
As inviting as a bed sounded, Kurt didn't want to leave Blaine. "I'm fine right here. I don't mind."
Reaching out to touch the back of his hand to Kurt's cheek, Blaine quietly said, "then at least come here."
Leaning into Blaine's touch, Kurt said, "No. You're hurt."
Blaine sighed, "I'm fine. Just be careful. Please, Kurt. I don't want you sleeping on the floor." His warm, hazel eyes lingered on Kurt for a moment, the longing in them broke him and Kurt stood up.
"Fine," he motioned for Blaine to slide over.
Blaine shifted on to his side, making room for Kurt. As Kurt climbed on to the couch next to him, Blaine wrapped his arms around him and propped his left leg over Kurt's legs. Blaine then buried his face in his shoulder and moaned, "that's better."
Pressing his lips to Blaine's forehead, Kurt said, "better than the floor."
Blaine smiled against him and said, "I'm sorry you had to sleep on the floor at all."
Taking Blaine's hand in his, Kurt said, "for this, it was worth it.."
Hours later, Kurt's phone vibrated on the coffee table, and he toppled off the couch, as he jumped from his sleep for the second time that night. "Hello?" he whispered into the phone.
Finn's voice came back through the phone in hushed tones, "hey, listen, I'm really sorry I left you. Something... came up with Rachel and I couldn't leave. Are you still at Blaine's?"
Looking down at Blaine's sleeping figure, who hadn't woken up through Kurt's phone and fall, Kurt smiled at him. His mouth was slightly open and he clung to the blanket that half draped over the side of the couch, as Kurt nearly dragged it to the floor with him. "Yeah, I fell asleep here, it's okay."
"Do you need me to come get you?" Finn asked.
Kurt pulled his phone away from his face to look at the time. It was already seven in the morning. "Yeah, please. I'd have Blaine take me, but I don't want to wake him."
Finn was silent for a moment, before he said, "okay, i'm on my way out the door right now."
"Thanks, Finn. I'll see you in a few minutes." Kurt hung up the phone and ran into the bathroom. He glanced in the mirror and noticed how horrible he looked. His hair was a complete mess and his clothes felt uncomfortable, considering they were still wet when he crashed on the floor.
When he left the bathroom, he sent Blaine's phone a quick text message Finn came to get me. Sorry I left unannounnced. I didn't want to wake you. Hope to see you in school later!
He then slid outside and sat on the front porch, waiting for Finn.
"What?" he asked, as soon as he got into the car.
Finn had a grin on his face and hw watched Kurt intensely, "nothing. I just..." He shifted the car into reverse. "You like him, don't you?"
Kurt blushed, glancing down at his hands. "I really do."
Finn nodded, "I thought so. I'm really happy for you, man."
Once again, Kurt had to protect Blaine's image. it didn't matter that Finn was his step-brother, he couldn't trust anyone. he didn't know that Blaine's reputation was safe there. "Oh, no. Finn, we're not, like, together."
Briefly glancing at him, Finn said, "look, I don't know that much about him, or if he plays for your team or anything. But if he does, that's cool with me. I can tell he's been a good friend to you, and I hope you do find someone soon, and if it's not Blaine, that's cool too. I think Blaine would be good for you though... I mean, if he was... you know..."
he had been bursting to talk about it with someone, and Finn seemed so casual about it, that he couldn't hold back. "Okay, fine. we might be... a little close for friends, and he's definitely gay, but Finn you can't tell anyone, okay? He's not comfortable with the idea of everyone at Mckinley knowing. We're just... getting close and I don't want anything to be ruined. I don't even know if he'd be happy that I told you."
"I won't tell anyone. Bro, you can trust me," Finn reassured him.
Kurt smiled, "I really like him Finn."
"I can tell," Finn replied.
"How?"
Finn said, "I remember how you looked, when you sort of... had a crush on me." He laughed. "I know that's a little weird thinking about now, but I remember the way you used to look at me. You had this look in your eyes that just... well, kind of creeped me out, but I guess if I had liked you too, it would have been nice to have someone look at me like that." He shrugged, "I see the way you look at Blaine, the way you looked when I picked you up. You have passion in your eyes, way more intense than any look I ever got from you."
"I do?" Kurt asked quietly. Coming from Finn, that was saying a lot.
"Yeah, man. You just seem, I don't know, happier now that Blaine's around. It's nice seeing you happy, after everything you've been through."
Kurt smiled at this. It was moments like this that made him so grateful that Finn was his brother. "Thanks, Finn. That means a lot to me."
They pulled into the driveway and Finn said, "if you want to hurry up and change, I can give you a lift to school."
Kurt waved it off, "that's okay. I don't want to make you late. I have to shower and properly get ready. I'll be a while."
Finn smiled, "okay, i understand. You, at least, are allowed to be late. I'll see you later."
Swinging the door open, Kurt said, "thanks for the ride, Finn," and took off toward the house.
The moment he walked in the living room, he heard his father's stern voice. "Nice of you to show. Kurt, please, come have a seat."
He stopped in his tracks, slowly turning to the living room. "Dad? Shouldn't you be working?"
Burt waited for him to take a seat on the couch next to Carole and continued, "I was going to, but then I noticed that my son was missing. I tried calling and you didn't answer. I went in your room to wake you up, because I wanted to know if you wanted a ride this morning, so we could talk, and you were gone."
"Dad, Im' sorry," Kurt said. He didn't know what else to say. He didn't mean to stay out. He hadn't even noticed his father had called. It must have been while he was still sleeping.
"Kurt, do you have any idea how worried I was?" Of course he was worried. Burt always worried about his son, and to have him disappear over night couldn't have been easy.
Kurt took a deep breath, "dad, I'm really sorry. I was... out with Blaine last night and we got caught in the rain and he got hurt... I took him home, and asked Finn to come bring me home. He never showed, and I just fell asleep. I'm sorry I didn't call. I wasn't even aware my phone rang."
Burt seemed taken aback. He looked Kurt over for a moment, and then said, "are you two being careful?"
His jaw dropped. "Dad, of course. I didn't mean, like... that. I just literally fell asleep there. That's all. Nothing else. He slipped and fell, and when we got to his house, he fell asleep like right away."
"Kurt, you've been spending a lot of time with Blaine," his father replied.
He shrugged, "I know. He's... he's a good guy, dad. Honest. You know I don't have an easy time trusting people, but I think I trust Blaine."
"You think?" Burt raised an eyebrow.
"No, I... I do," Kurt said. "He's been nothing but kind to me, and I really care about him."
"And does he... you know..." Burt tugged on the collar of his shirt.
Kurt smiled weakly, "yes, dad, he's gay, but he doesn't really want anyone at school knowing."
"I'll make sure I run to your school and tell the first cheerleader I can find," Burt smiled. Their eyes locked and his smile faded, "Kurt, I just want you to be careful. You understand that, right?"
"I know," Kurt said quietly. "After what happened with Karofsky, I'm really doing my best to be careful. I know, you're worried, it's okay."
Carole reached over and took his hand. "we love you, honey."
Kurt swallowed, "i know... I'm sorry I worried you. It won't happen again."
Burt said, "let's try to stick with that... I can give you a ride to school if you want. The shop's still closed now anyway, because I was hoping you'd show. I can wait for you to head upstairs and change."
"That'd be great," Kurt smield at him.
"I missed you yesterday," Kurt's voice came from behind him.
Blaine spun around and smiled at the sight of him, "sorry about that. By the time I woke up, my mom was awake and hungover, and I just figured I'd stay home. We had a talk about , you know, whether I'm being careful and all. I've never been in a relationship, so I think it surprised her that I had you over that night."
"It's okay. I had that talk with my dad and Carole too." When Blaine shut his locker door, Kurt added, "actually, I was sort of hoping you could come over to my place tonight. we always have family dinners on Friday night. It'd been a tradition for years, and my dad wanted to get to know you better."
Raising his eyebrows suspiciously, Blaine said, "does he suspect anything between us?"
At this, Kurt avoided his gaze, "I... may have mentioned something." In response to the exasperated look Blaine gave him, he added, "in my defense, Blaine, I tell my dad everything. He's not going to run and tell the world."
It wasn't so much that he thought Burt Hummel would tell everyone. It was that Kurt claimed he didn't believe in outing anyone, and although Blaine wasn't fully in the closet, Kurt had promised not to tell anyone. But Kurt claimed he trusted Blaine, so Blaine had to trust him too, right? "It's fine, Kurt. I'd love to have dinner with your family."
Clapping his hands together,K urt exclaimed, "great! Carole and I will have it ready by six. Don't be late!"
Late wasn't exactly what Blaine would call it. He'd just call it arguing with his mother for half an hour on the subject of going. It seemed like a poor choice to her, but in the end, she gave up and told him to do whatever the hell he wanted.
"You're lucky I forgot to throw the rolls in or you might actually have missed dinner," Kurt said, taking Blaine's coat from him.
Blaine shrugged, "sorry about that."
"Are you okay? I meant to ask how your back was earlier," he frowned.
Blaine replied, "I'm alright. A little sore still, but I'm okay," he smiled reassuringly. "Just hungry. I'm interested to see how good of a cook you really are."
Leading him into the living room, Kurt chuckled, "hopefully not too horrible. Everyone here seems to stomach it pretty well... Then again, they could just be puking late into the night when I'm sleeping."
Gently slapping his arm, Blaine caught sight of Finn, who had his arm around Rachel, "hi guys," he said.
Rachel's eyebrows were raised at him, and she didn't say anything. Thankfully, Finn cut the tension, "hey, dude! Burt mentioned you'd be here tonight."
Rachel looked from Blaine to Kurt, with a knowing expression on her face. "That's... nice, Blaine. I'll be eating dinner here too. It's nice getting time to spend with my boyfriend's family, you know?"
If he hadn't felt uncomfortable before, he did now. Did she really think something was going on between him and Kurt? Was he making it that obvious? "I'm sure that's nice for you," he nodded.
She gave him an annoyed look, as if she was hoping for more. "Well, of course it is! It's important to spend time with Finn's family, just like it's important for him to spend time with my family. We're in a serious relationship, and if we ever get married, I want to make sure our families are close."
"Um, what?" Finn hardly seemed to register what she just said.
To save Blaine, Kurt grabbed his arm and said, "well, while you two make wedding plans, we're going to help Carole set the table. Come on, Blaine.' He pulled him into the kitchen, where Carole greeted them with a smile.
She pointed at the cupboard over the counter at the far end of the room, "plates are above the silverware, Blaine. I hope you don't mind helping Kurt."
He gave her a reassuring smile, "it's no problem."
Kurt and Blaine grabbed the dishes and took them out into the dining room, where they set the table.
Blaine looked sideways at Kurt, who had just placed a fork next to a plate, when he said, "You make setting a table look really sexy."
Instantly, Kurt blushed, which satisfied him. "Blaine, stop," Kurt said in a higher voice than usual. he placed a knife next to the fork.
"See? Sexy," Blaine said, sliding around the table. He took Kurt's hand and said, "I'm happy I'm here."
Kurt smiled, putting his arms around Blaine's waist, "I'm happy you're here too."
Taking in Kurt's warm embrace, Blaine tipped his head up and kissed him. "I'm happy to be kissing you... I'm always happy to be kissing you."
Deepening the kiss, Kurt said, "You also always talk tooo much."
Biting Kurt's bottom lip, Blane mumbled, "last I knew, you liked the sound of my voice."
A throat cleared behind them and they flew from each other's grasps too quickly. Blaine stumbled and fell into the tale, knocking a glass over. It hit the floor and shattered. "Uh... I'm so sorry, Mr. Hummel," he said.
Burt moved into the room and said, "Blaine, call me Burt. What's..." he paused, tugging on the collar of his shirt. "What's going on in here?"
Kurt's cheeks burned, "Dad, it's not what it looks like."
Burt raised an eyebrow, "you two kissing in my dining room?"
Blaine felt uneasy. He knew that Kurt had already told his father more than he should have, and now it was confirmed. It was more than Blaine had wanted. "I'm really sorry..." he said. He hated how stupid he sounded, like Burt wasn't going to see right through that. They were two teenage boys, of course kissing in the dining room looked to be exactly what it was.
If anyone was uncomfortable in this situation though, it was Burt. He took several deep breaths, wiped sweat off his forehead and said, "Just... Just, uh, be careful you two, alright? Remember what we talked about, Kurt."
"Of course, dad," Kurt said quietly.
When Burt's eyes shifted in his direction, Blaine swallowed and said, "absolutely." He wasn't going to do anything that would upset Kurt or his father, especially after what happened with Karofsky.
"Rolls are done!" Carole came bursting into the room after an awkward silence. She set them on the table and looked at Kurt. "Are you okay, sweetie?"
Kurt nodded, taking a seat, "let's just eat." His face was pale, and as Blaine took his hand under the table, he noticed that his hands were shaking. What was wrong? Had something in that conversation upset him?
He never found out, because Rachel and Finn entered the room and Rachel started talking about plans for the future: how she planned to go to NYADA with Kurt, how they were going to look over applications that evening, and wanted to bribe Finn to find something to do in New York.
Kurt and Blaine stole glanced throughout the meal, but Blaine didn't want to be too obvious, because he could sense Burt watching him out of the corner of his eye.
He hoped that Burt wasn't convinced that Blaine was going to hurt his son, because that was the last thing Blaine wanted to do.
I hate Saturdays. Do you know why I hate Saturdays?
Kurt smiled at the text message Blaine sent him and replied, No, Blaine. Why do you hate Saturdays?
It took Blaine several minutes to reply, The same reason I hate Sunday.
Standing up, he made his way into the kitchen and poured himself a bowl of cereal. That's helpful. Why do you hate Sunday?
Blaine replied instantly. it was short and to the point. It also made Kurt smile.
Because I can't see you.
Dialing Blaine's number, Kurt said, "do you enjoy making me miss you this early in the morning?"
"You didn't miss me before you knew I missed you?" Blaine asked him.
"Of course I did! But now I have this unhealthy desire to come to your house and just spend the day watching sappy movies with you or something."
Sighing, Blaine said, "Can't, sorry. My mom's home all day today. How about we say... warehouse in an hour?"
"I'll be there," Kurt hung up, quickly shoveling the cereal into his mouth and taking off for the shower. He quickly ran through his mosturizing routine, and rapped on Finn's door. "I'm going out for a while. Let dad and Carole know when they get back."
"Sure thing, bro," Finn told him.
He was at the warehouse in forty-five minutes. He climbed the ladder and waited patiently for Blaine, who didn't get there for another half an hour. "What took you so long?" he asked.
Holding up two cups of coffee, Blaine smiled, "I may have stopped by the Lima Bean on my way here. Seeing you wouldn't be the same without a little coffee date."
"Do you just think of everything?" Kurt asked.
Handing him his cup, Blaine said, "depends on the day of the week."
Kurt set the cup on the ground and said, "Do you know what my favorite part of seeing you on Saturday is?" He leaned over and pressed his lips to Blaine's. His hand cupped Blaine's cheek, and Blaine moaned.
"I think I found a new Saturday tradition," he said. Lying down, Blaine pulled Kurt down on top of him. "I could kiss you all day."
"Then you should," Kurt mumbled, collapsing on him. He let himself melt into Blaine's embrace completely, as Blaine's hands came over his waist. "Wouldn't... care..." Kurt said, moving his lips down Blaine's neck, and Blaine grunted with pleasure underneath him.
"Kurt... Ugh, i...." Blaine's body twitched under him. "You're too much."
"No," Kurt whispered. His free hand found Blaine's curls. It felt so familiar, it felt safe and warm, and he just wanted to hold Blaine all day.
And he did.
They spent countless hours lying on the rooftop. They ate snakcs that Blaine had brought, they cuddled under a blanket, as the air grew cooler around them. Blaine even read to Kurt out of a book he had been reading, and Kurt dozed off, comforted by the sound of Blaine's voice.
When he woke, it was dark out and he could feel Blaine's fingers stroking his hair. He blinked, looking up into Blaine's eyes through the darkening night. "Hi," he croaked.
Blaine smiled, "hey, you."
"My dad's probaly worried," Kurt mumbled, reaching for his phone.
Blaine grabbed his hand and stopped him. He pulled Kurt's fingers toward his face and kissed the tips of his fingers. "He's okay. I'm sure he knows you're safe."
"Blaine you don't know him like I do," he frowned.
"Like when he walked in on us yesterday? Something about that didn't settle well with you," Blaine's fingers continued to stroke his hair and he shivered.
"He just... worries too much. This whole thing with Karofsky has him so stressed and I'm terrified of him getting another heart attack or something. I know he means well, and I wish he would trust you, because I trust you, but he just can't... I've been hurt too much. I think he's just worried, because I've been spending so much time with you, and after staying out all night..." his voice faded.
Blaine's fingers stopped moving, "You trust me?" he asked quietly.
Kurt looked into his eyes, "of course I do. Blaine, you've been so good to me, how could I not trust you?"
Blaine shrugged, "I just wanted to make sure you meant it. I'd prove you can trust me, if you didn't."
Taking Blaine's hand, Kurt said, "I trust you. I think the only person you have to convince is my dad."
Blaine replied, "then I'll make that promise to you. I'm going to prove to your dad that I'm not David Karofsky, and I'm not going to hurt you."
