Nightbird was his name and fighting crime was his game, well what crime there was in Lima anyhow, and his name really wasn’t Nightbird that was just his superhero identity he had given himself, he was just plain old Blaine Anderson from Lima, Ohio a schoolboy of 17 trying to find his place in this dark cruel world. After losing everything he loved in a space of a few weeks he decided he wouldn’t just sit around and let everything hang over him like a dark cloud of emotion, no he wanted to fight. To prove to the world he was strong enough to take on the challenges it had for him and he wasn’t going to just lie down and die.
Another day of school had ended and after a rather boring Glee club meeting where he had watched the new kids bitch to each other about solos he was happy that he was back out on the street fighting crime. He hadn’t been gifted any special powers like you see all the heroes in comic books with, he hadn’t been bitten by a radioactive spider or had a device placed into his chest which worked with a suit made of iron nor could he turn into a giant green beast when angry. He just had to rely on his brains and his skills in boxing. I guess he was like Batman but he didn’t have the flashy car or the bat cave. After changing into his suit which he had designed himself from some old black jeans, a black polo shirt, an old black and blue chest protection armour from paintballing and a black and blue cape with he had paired with some old black shoes and gloves. Yes his theme was black and blue, had he intended on this? No not really but it looked awesome in the end. He started to walk the streets keeping his eyes and ears open looking for any signs of danger. He had a few times people call him names in the street but he just ignored them since most of them were drunk and unable to stand up right. After a few hours he heard a strange sound.
“My baby!” A women voice screamed at a top of hill as he looked up to find pram rolling down towards him.
“Don’t worry, I’ll save then!” Blaine shouted as he jumped out in front of the road and ran towards the runaway buggy. As it came closer he jogged on the spot his arms ready to grab a hold of the handle bars. He took a deep breath as it got closer. He had a countdown playing in his head as he grabbed it, the pram pulling him along as he tried to balance himself while slowing them both down before coming to a standstill.
“Oh my, thank you kind sir” The woman said as she ran down towards him.
“You breaks are broken, I suggest a new pram” Blaine said as he pasted her it.
“How can I thank you? What is your name?”
“It’s Nightbird and no need to thank me” Blaine said as he ran off into the night.
