Kurt. Fucking perfect Kurt. The pale boy was all Blaine had his eyes on for the past week, no, as soon as he arrived actually. Sebastian could just sense that Blaine had feelings for him. And it pissed him off.
“I’ve been trying to get Blaine for four years and Kurt comes in and steals his attention like he’s the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen!”
Sebastian threw another textbook against the wall, this time Calculus. It collided with a thud and fell harshly down, bending and crumpling of few papers. He knew he was going to get in trouble, and he knew he was going to end up regretting his decision but frankly he didn’t care. Life never went his way. He was seeing red; it would be different if Blaine just had a small crush that Sebastian could handle. But Blaine seemed to be freaking oblivious to everything around him when Kurt Hummel entered the room. He could see the breath come out of him, almost hear his heartbeat and it made Sebastian sick.
Sebastian lashed out in another fit of rage at a pillow that had been unfortunate enough to be in the way of Sebastian’s tyranny.
“Why him?” Sebastian thought aloud, “What’s wrong with me?”
Sebastian calmed down enough to take in his destroyed dorm room. It looked like a tornado came through. All of his books were splayed across the floor, some covers ripped and papers crumpled. The bedding from his luxury double bed was ripped off and thrown across his desk, it would take forever to out everything back on. Most of his homework and classwork were sprawled across the ground along with his binders. Lastly his plush loveseat was flipped over lying on its side; Sebastian didn’t even know how he managed to do that.
Sebastian gave a long sigh and slumped down into his computer chair. He shoved the blue designer bedding off the mahogany desk and put his head down. He thought for a long time. HE thought about Blaine, he thought about how much he hated Kurt, and he thought about how much of a fool he was for not getting Blaine to fall I love with him. Sebastian didn’t even know if he wanted love, but he knew he wanted something.
He slowly picked his head up with the notion of getting dinner, he dreaded seeing Blaine, and he knew if he saw Blaine, he would see Kurt. But he was starving and like usual, his body’s needs usually overcame his own.
As he shrugged on his blazer and straightened his tie into an elaborate Windsor knot he opened the door. He glanced back at his destroyed room and sighed. But his eye caught onto something bright lying on the desk. He squinted and could make out two medicine bottles.
Shit.
He forgot to take his medicine. If he took it he would’ve probably reacted to the Blaine and Kurt thing a lot better. After debating whether to sedate or not sedate his emotions he took the latter. If anyone was getting the full brunt of his anger it was a boy who went by the name of Kurt Hummel.
He smiled and stepped out the door, slamming it hard on his way out.
~~~
“No way, really?”
Kurt almost choked on his salad; Blaine was telling him the funniest stories ever from his childhood.
“Yup, I ate it whole, legs and everything.”
Kurt burst out with another fit of laughter. After he’d calmed down he took in the boy in front of him. Blaine was like Kurt’s guardian angel for his first week at Dalton. He told Kurt which teachers were easy going and strict, which people to avoid, the occasional bit of gossip. If Kurt thought an all-boys school would be drama free he was horribly mistaken. He helped Kurt maneuver through the crowded halls, and even bought him coffee every morning. It was all too good to be true.
Kurt’s reverie was interrupted as he heard whoops of laughter echo through the Dalton cafeteria. He watched as the crowd of boys in blue blazers shuffle loudly through the dinner line. All but one, Kurt noticed. The boy looked familiar. He walked in suavely after the manic that came before him. The boy was handsome…And tall. He had perfectly styled golden brown hair and striking green eyes, a very deep green that shone like emeralds. Kurt cocked his head deep in thought trying to remember where he’d seen the boy. Kurt realized he was staring and blinked, he almost fell out of his seat at the very boy plopped down next to him, folding his hand under his head and smiling. He had a great smile.
“H- Hi.” Kurt was breathing hard, Blaine was pretty, but this boy was beautiful. Kurt could see his narrow jawline and slightly toned arms through his stretching blazer.
“Hi yourself.”
The boy sat up straighter in his seat and looked at Blaine. Kurt hadn’t realized Blaine had slumped down further in his seat. He almost looked angry. Before Kurt could question his new friends change in attitude the rest of the wild boys came and joined them, all swarming around Blaine and Green eyes talking their own seats.
“Hey Blaine, why the long face?” A blonde boy spoke up. He was tall, not taller thank Kurt, but the countertenor was taller than most. He had delicate features and olive green eyes. He was amazed by the fact at how colorless the blonde’s green eyes looked next to the mysterious boy’s eyes.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about Jeff,” Blaine crossed his arms and looked away. The boy that was now known as Jeff shrugged and went back to talking with some of the other students that surrounded them.
“Giraffe’s have long faces.”
Kurt knew that naive voice anywhere. He looked back from Blaine to the seat directly in front of him. Sure enough their sat his roomy, Thad.
At first Kurt thought Thad’s random outbursts and simple way of life was cute. But after a few days he quickly feared for the boy’s sanity. He wasn’t blonde so he couldn’t take that stereotype. He reminded him of a slightly more intense Brittany, but Thad was a senior so surely he had to have some grip on reality, right?
“They sure do, Thad,” Kurt patted Thad’s hand from across the table. Receiving a smile in return Thad went back to separating his food. It was freaky, but in an adorable type of way.
“How do you know Thad?” Kurt turned to see a tall Asian boy looking at him form a farther side of the table. He had to crane his head to look at the boy properly.
“He’s actually my roommate.”
“Oh! You’re Kurt!”
The Asian boy jumped out of his seat as the rest of the boys, minus Blaine, Thad, and the green eyed boy, jumped and whooped and hollered.
“You’re the Kurt Blaine has been going on about!” Jeff got up and placed his hands on Kurt’s shoulder making him flinch sharply. Blaine didn’t miss it.
“Guys-“
Blaine started to talk but was immediately cut off by the Asian boy again.
“I’m Wes, one of Blaine’s friends,” he extended a hand to Kurt. Kurt debated whether to shake and decided to be friendly towards any friends of Blaine’s. He took the Asian boy’s hands and shook firmly giving him a smile.
Suddenly Wes was shoved out of the way by another boy, had soft chocolate skin, “I’m David, another friend of Blaine’s. Seriously Wes, introduce all of to Blaine’s future hubby.”
Kurt turned to Blaine who was scarlet.
“Guys, he’s not my future husband,” Blaine gave Kurt a look to identify that he didn’t know what they were talking about.
“We beg to differ,” Jeff spoke up, “Me and Nick have heard you talk about his eyes enough to write a ten page essay on it. We could send it as a college application.”
“I could write a book.”
Kurt assumed the brown haired boy was Nick, he was slightly shorter than Jeff but they complemented each other well. Kurt smiled at the thought.
“What do you think Trent? Do you think Blaine’s in love with Kurt?” Jeff turned to a slightly chubby boy with terrifically styled hair.
“Of course, but you know Blaine,” Trent smiled, “his emotions overrule everything. He fell in love with that cat at the animal shelter and almost protested against not letting him adopt it three months ago.”
“Oh you’re right, the cat wasn’t even cute.” Jeff agreed.
“Enough!” Blaine yelled and Kurt turned to his friend. His face was red, but Kurt couldn’t tell if that was from anger of embarrassment.
“Blaine it’s alright,” Kurt laughed, “I actually think it’s kind of funny.”
Blaine rolled his eyes but smiled nevertheless. All the Dalton boys went back to their separate conversations. Kurt was annoyed that the green haired boy next to him was never introduced. It just added to his intrigue even more. After a few minutes of building up his courage he turned to the boy.
“Aren’t you going to introduce yourself?” Kurt tilted his head to the side slightly. The sentence sounded way more flirtatious than he intended. For God’s sake Kurt didn’t even know if he was gay. Kurt was sure he’d goanna get his heart broken and it’ll be far from repair.
The green eyed boy smiled, “Sebastian Smythe, and you’re Kurt.”
He had it. That’s where Kurt had seen him. That first day in Dalton he found Blaine at a lunch table. He was too engrossed in his own conversation that he didn’t notice Sebastian in the chair next to him. He wanted to kick himself that he never had the chance to get to know the smooth boy next to him more. Maybe he and Blaine were friends.
“I guess I am.” Kurt stopped his unintentional flirting for a moment and turned back to the group, “How do all of you guys know each other?”
Blaine spoke up, “Were all in the Warblers. I’m telling you Kurt you should join; it’s a lot of fun.”
“And crazy,” Wes added.
“And you have to deal with Thad,” Jeff motioned to the brunette eating a peanut butter sandwich.
“We should make a bubble club!”
Everyone, including Sebastian turned to stare at Thad. After what felt like hours of silence and awkward glances Nick spoke up.
“What?”
“We all like bubbles right?” Thad smiled and waved his arms to the whole group. To Kurt’s surprise they all nodded. “So we should start a club where we can blow bubbles all day!”
Thad fell into his own hysteria and started laughing like a child. Kurt shook his head before turning back to Sebastian.
“So are you and Blaine close?”
He asked the question innocently, he had no idea of the crossfire that was about to ensue.
“Yes, very close actually.” Sebastian raised an eyebrow towards Kurt in a suggestive manner.
“No were not!” Blaine shouted gaining all of the boy’s attention. Every eye was fixed on Sebastian and the Warbler’s lead soloist.
“Oh c’mon Blaine, haven’t you ever wondered what a night with me would be like?”
Kurt’s mouth hung open as Blaine turned beet red. He never took Blaine for that kind of guy, he even told Kurt that he and Sebastian were not dating but I guess you can never judge a book by its cover. Wes and David silently moved to Blaine’s side. The young warbler was usually calm and put together. They’ve seen how Blaine gets around Sebastian and they could not get into a fight here. They’d get expelled immediately.
“Blaine, are you and Sebastian-“
Kurt got cut off before he could finish his sentence.
“No, Kurt I would never, Sebastian’s the biggest whore in the school!”
Kurt and the rest of the group gasped. The countertenor turned to look at Sebastian’s reaction. To his surprise he was calm, he was even smirking. Kurt smiled inwardly at Sebastian’s cocky facial expression.
“Well that’s not what you were saying a few months ago, Blainey.”
The boy’s eyes widened and turned to Blaine who was seething. Kurt could see his hands balled in fists, his knuckles turning white. Kurt’s never seen Blaine so unhinged and he wondered what made Sebastian so frustrating to push the prefect to the edge.
“Blaine, what happened?” Thad turned to Blaine with an innocent expression. He blinked a few times clutching his sandwich to his chest.
“Nothing!” Blaine snapped. Thad frowned and quickly looked away. Kurt noticed the seniors face turning pale and his breathing becoming ragged.
“Blaine,” It was Wes’ turn to get mad, “Don’t yell at Thad! You know how fragile he is!”
Kurt watched silently from his seat as Wes went to console the boy. Wes pulled Thad into a big hug rubbing his shoulders. Kurt thought it was sweet how they all stuck together. He wondered if any of these boys were in the Warblers with Blaine.
“Blaine, something obviously happened…” Jeff turned to look at Blaine, choosing his words carefully. There were only two things that can get Blaine this riled up; Sebastian and his father.
“Fine,” Blaine yelled throwing up his hands. He brought them back down sharply and took a deep breath. “A few months ago I made out with Sebastian, it was a horrible accident I regret it every day. I was in a bad place.”
“More than making out,” Sebastian muttered while taking a sip of his coffee that arrived. Kurt didn’t even notice the green eyed boy order; he was too focused on Blaine.
“I only kissed you Sebastian,” Blaine spit out his name like it was poison, “Was because I was mad at my father and wanted some way to get back at him. I used you, nothing more.”
Sebastian scoffed, “You’re such a dick Blaine, damn.”
Blaine smiled, “Since I’m saying things I’ll regret later why stop now? Why are you even here? I don’t like you, Kurt doesn’t know you, the rest of the Warblers tolerate you- you have no business being near us.”
Blaine just confirmed Kurt’s suspicions about them all being Warblers. But it made Kurt’s stomach knot up at how mean Blaine was being. It’s a side Kurt’s never seen before. Until now Blaine’s been a perfect dapper gentleman.
“You like me Kurt right?” Sebastian turned to Kurt with a smile. Not one of his usual snide ones, a real smile. It made Kurt’s stomach flutter.
“I uh-“
“No he doesn’t,” Blaine continued, getting louder and angrier than before, “Sebastian the only reason you’re here is because you wouldn’t suck your dad’s dick so he shipped you out here to set you straight!”
Sebastian dropped his coffee, the cup crashed onto the table and the copper liquid seeped through the cracks onto the once spotless tiles of the Dalton cafeteria. All of the Warblers were silent and staring at Sebastian. His nonchalant composure was completely wiped. He had fear in his eyes, and his skin went a shade paler.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Sebastian tried after a long period of silence. Blaine shook his head and sat down next to the suave boy.
“But you do, you told me once while you were drunk trying to once again get into my pants. Your father was a horrible man, he-“
“Enough!”
The whole cafeteria was silent now. You could hear a pin drop. All of the boys’ eyes were on Kurt. Kurt shook off the feeling of uneasiness and continued.
“Enough Blaine,” He repeated, “look at him, I get that you’re frustrated but you can’t delve into someone’s emotional problems it’s not right. I didn’t think you were like that.”
Blaine blinked and seemed to come back to reality. Once the realization of what he was doing dawned on him he looked guilty.
“Kurt, I’m not like that, I didn’t mean-“
Kurt cut him off, sharper this time, “Look at him!” He stuck an index finger towards Sebastian.
Blaine clamped his mouth shut and turned to look at the older boy. His face was drained of any color; he was as white as a sheet. He was silent but there were tears streaming down his face, Sebastian was paralyzed. He sat there hand extended in the air as If he was still holding onto the coffee cup.
“Sebastian?” Blaine asked, real sincerity in his voice, “Are you ok?”
Kurt watched Sebastian look up towards Blaine. He opened his mouth, probably to try to say something crude or sarcastic but all that could be heard was a wheeze of air. Kurt’s anger was peaking, he knew he would forgive Blaine eventually but emotional bullying hit way to close to home for Kurt.
“Blaine, go.”
Blaine looked towards the blue eyed boy and back towards Sebastian.
“But Kurt,” He never finished.
“Go!”
Blaine’s eyes fell as he held back tears, “I’m going,” he picked up his dinner and walked out of the cafeteria. After a moment Wes and David exchanged glances and hurried after their friend.
“It was nice meeting you all,” Kurt’s voice still had a strain towards hit but he couldn’t help it.
“C’mon Sebastian, I’ll help you.”
Kurt held out and arm to help the broken boy up. To his surprise he took it without hesitation. They exited the room as the boys all looked after them. Kurt knew what Sebastian was going through even if he didn’t know the full story.
He tugged Sebastian outside into the elegant hallways of Dalton. Kurt bit his lip before he pulled the boy into a large hug. Sebastian hesitated, but returned the hug in the same amount of enthusiasm. He clutched onto Kurt like a lifeline, like if he let go he would fall farther than he already has.
“If you want to talk I’m here.” Kurt looked into Sebastian’s beautiful green eyes, they reflected him like a kaleidoscope.
Sebastian cried into Kurt’s neck for what felt like hours. He still hated him but for now he was going to appreciate the first warm body to show him any affection in months.
None of them noticed Blaine watching them on the bench. And no one noticed the tears that streamed down his face.
I like that you don't have Blaine be the perfect, dapper gentleman. I like your character development for Sebastian.
