"Blaine, sweetie. Wake up! You have school today." Mrs. Anderson whispered, lightly shaking her son's shoulder. Blaine groaned and rolled out of her grasp, pulling the covers over his head. "Blaine, you need to get up!" His mothered informed him again.
He pulled back the covers to look at her through his sleepy eyes. "I will, just five more minutes."
Mrs. Anderson pushed back Blaine's bed head and sighed. "Fine, I'll set the alarm then go make your breakfast. Ok, sweetie?" Blaine nodded as his mom pressed a kiss into his forehead. "Five minutes." She said fiddling with his alarm. "Get some rest." Blaine only grumbled in response, already slipping back to sleep.
Five minutes later, Blaine was jarred awake by the incessant shrieking of his alarm clock. He smacked the clock multiple times until the noise stopped. Rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, Blaine hobbled out of his bed and slowly advanced towards his bathroom. Unaware of where anything was, he began opening random drawers and cabinets. The first one he opened contained a tooth brush and toothpaste, which he used to his benefit. The next drawer was full of deodorant, shaving cream, snowed gel and cologne. He looked at himself in the mirror, noticing a little stubbly beard had began to grow on his chin. However, he had no knowledge of how to shave or ever being taught such a skill, so the beard had to stay for the time being. Blaine did use the shower gel, though.
He let the warm water run over his body in the small shower which had once seemed immensly larger. During his shower, Blaine thought back to the hospital. Many times he had been told he was part of a Glee Club, not just part, but former leader of the Warblers. He decided to test his virtuosity with a few lines from Hansen's Mmmbop. He sounded pretty good if he could say so himself, so he decided to sing the rest of the lyrics he knew, before stepping out of the shower and grabbing his towel. After drying off, Blaine wrapped his towel loosely around his waist, holding it in place with one hand, and walked to his closet. He surveyed his clothes, with a frown. Everything seemed a little too...prestigious and designer. He decided on a pair of khakis that were folded up to his ankle and a navy blue vneck. Moving on to shoes was equally conflicting, so Blaine settled for white converse.
Returning to the bathroom, Blaine added deoderant and cologne to his body, before opening the other three drawers to see what else he needed. The first, as well as the second, was strangely filled with hair gel. Adding to the confusion, the third drawer possed a large collection of candy colored ray bans, mostly in pink. Blaine closed the drawers with suspicion, not really wanting know what he used them for.
Now fully dressed, he headed downstairs for the breakfast he was able to smell all the way from his room. However, what awaited him was far more than his nose could ever lead him to believe. Lying on the kitchen island was a train of pancakes, cinnamon rolls, biscuits, cereal, sausage, bacon, fruit, multiple beverages, and eggs prepared in every form.
"I wasn't sure what you would want." His mom said apologetically as she carried a plate of waffles to add to the chain.
"Um, thanks?" Blaine offered.
"Of course, sweetie! The plates are right there," she pointed to a stack on the counter, "and the cups. Silverware is in the drawer under the toaster, same as they've always been. But I also laid a few out for you." Blaine was relieved his dad was nowhere in sight, probably, at work, or he would've thrown a fit over Mrs. Anderson pampering her son. "You can just help yourself." Blaine slowly made his way around the kitchen, adding things to his plate. He felt his mother's watchful eyes watching him over her coffee mug the entire time.
Finally he turned to face her, "yes, mom?" He sighed, tearing his bacon into bite sized pieces, before putting them into his mouth one by one.
"Oh, nothing." She dismissed, before changing her mind. "It's just- I'm just- well, I printed out a copy of your schedule for you, which I want you to put in your backpack so you-"
"Right! My backpack." Blaine said, he knew something was missing.
"Do you not know where it is?" His mother asked, concern lacing her voice.
"No, it's in my room. I just forgot to bring it down."
"Oh, don't worry. I'll go get it, you just keep eating." His mother said hurriedly, before heading up the stairs. Blaine was left to eat and look over the schedule his mother had left for him on the table.

While Blaine was looking over his schedule, the doorbell rang. "I got it!" Blaine called. He went over and opened the door, revealing a smiling Finn.
"Hey, Finn." Blaine greeted him.
"Hey, ready for your first day of school?" He asked, with forced pep.
"Nope. I'm ready to go back to bed."
Finn sighed, a long sigh as though he had been holding his breathe. "Same." His enthusiasms was now gone. He followed Blaine into the kitchen. "Wow! It's like Thankgiving!"
"Yeah, my mom has been really obsessive and overprotective since I got back from the hospital."
"It's understandable, I mean you could be dead now." An uncomfortable pause followed Finn's words. "Sorry, dude." Blaine just shrugged it off. He planned to procrastinate anymore post-traumatic stress or thoughts for as long as possible, after breaking down on the phone with Cooper the night before. "That your schedule?" Finn asked, trying to change the subject.
"Yeah." Blaine said, glad for the distraction. He handed the sheet of paper to Finn, who read over it silently nodding to himself.
"Okay, yeah. We have Speech together and of course all of the glee kids have Mr. Schue for home room, so we'll all be there. And then... Do you have a pen?" I nodded, grabbing one from the bowl which always had pens for as long as I could write. "Thanks. We can't forget Glee club after school in the choir room." He said, writing "GLEE! Choir room after school!" At the bottom of my sheet.
I heard my mom's footsteps coming down the stairs, before I saw her appear in the kitchen. "Oh, hi Finn. I didn't realize you were here. Well, you can help yourself to any of the food. And Blaine should be ready soon."
"Thank you, Mrs. Anderson." Finn said, grabbing a biscuit, before awkwardly relocating himself in the entryway to the kitchen.
"Blaine, sweetie, here's your bag. I'll put your schedule right in here." She patted a small pocket on the front of the suede one shoulder satchel, before folding the sheet and slipping it in there. "And also," she turned around and went digging through a small drawer behind her. "This is your cell phone. Do you know what that is?" She asked Blaine in a patronizing tone, as if he was a two year old that didn't speak English. Blaine half nodded, he remembered them, but they never looked like the sleek device his mother now held. "Good. Finn can help you figure it out." She looked to Finn for confirmation, he nodded. "And I put in your father and I's numbers under mommy and daddy." Blaine blushed as he heard Finn trying to stifle a laugh. "I also have Mr. Schuester's number and I got Finn's as well. You can call any of us in case of an emergency, right?" Again she looked to Finn for confirmation, he nodded once more.
"Mom, what emergencies? It's school."
"What if you get hurt or feel sick or fainty or you get lost or stuck or..."
"Stuck?"
"I don't know sweetie, McKinely is a tough school. I still don't know why you wanted to transfer." She sighed, "and I'm worried about, you just got out of the hospital! My poor baby!" She said, hugging her son and kissing his cheek. "Have a good day, I love you!"
"Love you too, mom" Blaine grumbled, following a smirking Finn out to the drive way.
Walking into home room behind Finn that morning was overwhelming to say the least. As soon as Blaine entered the room, over half of the room turned and cheered his name. Everyone began asking him questions and talking at a million miles. Some even ran up, hugging him.
"Guys, remember what Finn said yesterday? Just calm down, give him some space." The teacher at the front of the room called. Now in a softer voice, he turned to Blaine. "I'm Mr. Schuester."
Blaine extended his hand. "My name is Blaine."
At that moment, Mr. Schue gave a Blaine a smile so grand and welcoming, that Blaine couldn't help but smile back. "I know. It's great to have you back!" He said, pulling Blaine into a hug. "And I'm sure everyone else in here agrees." He said releasing Blaine and turning to his class. Most of them had been listening and cheered. "And your seat is right over there next to Kurt." At the sound of his name, the boy looked up from his magazine, which he had been absorbed in since Blaine entered room.
The second Blaine recognized the face, he panicked. That was the guy from the hospital. "Thanks." He smiled once more at his teacher, before slowly, unwillingly made his way to the desk.
Kurt watched as Blaine walked towards him. Blaine kept his eyes on the ground, trying not to look at Kurt. But even without the hazel eyes, which drive Kurt insane, his heart was still beating out of his chest. He couldn't stop staring at the small triangle of extra skin, revealed by Blaine's vneck and the scruff growing on his chin. And his hair! Oh sweet Jesus, his hair! It was a mess of black curls tangled on top of Blaine's head, and all Kurt wanted to do was run his hands through that soft mess.
But as Blaine sat down and Tina turned in her seat to face him, Kurt's eyes went back to his copy of Vogue. He wasn't actually reading, just listening to the voice he had missed so much and wished was speaking to him.
"You're back!" Tina squealed.
"Yeah, here I am, wherever this is." Blaine sighed, with a hint of confusion and Brittany in his voice.
"So, what's it like waking up and not remembering anything?" She asked.
"I remembered somethings. I can remember everything up to my seventh birthday." Blaine informed her, proud of himself for catching that fact from his mom.
"Wow, so you just woke up one day and 'surprise! You're ten years older'?" Tina asked.
"Pretty much." Blaine said, followed by the school bell ringing, which apparently scared the shit out of Blaine and frustrated the Kurt to no end. He didn't want to go to French, he wanted to sit here and listen to Blaine talk for hours, fantasizing about running his hands through the boy's hair. But Kurt suddenly remembered the painful reality that he might never get to have moments like that with Blaine ever again.
The first half of Blaine's day was filled with uneventful lessons which he didn't understand. Some of his teachers were sympathetic to his accident, while others still expected him to participate in the lesson and homework. Blaine was relieved to enter the cafeteria and be waved over by Finn. The table was full of kids from his homeroom and, as he soon found out, Glee club. The beginning of lunch consisted of introductions and Blaine being bombarded with questions. But as it got closer to the bell ringing, the table slowly began to empty, some leaving to study, or practice for their assignment in Glee today, or couples leaving to "be alone." Soon it was just Blaine, Finn, Sam, and Kurt, who was engrossed once more in his Vogue magazine.
"Finn, coach said I needed to lift some more. Come spot me?" Sam, who was always self concious about his body, asked.
"Uh, yeah. Blaine, will you be okay?" Blaine nodded. "Okay, you and Kurt have chemistry together." Blaine opened his mouth to deny that and say there was nothing between them, but Finn spoke. "It's next period. You can walk with him, right?"
"Yeah, yeah sure." He said, although he didn't want to. Finn and Sam left, leaving just Kurt and Blaine at the table. The two boys sat in an awkward silence, occasionally making eye contact, then both looking away.
Kurt sighed. "Blaine, we have to get passed this. I know I made a terrible first impression at the hospital. I kinda freaked out and I'm so embarrassed about it. But if you'll forgive me and let me start over?"
Blaine nodded, "okay." He extended his hand to Kurt. "I'm Blaine."
"Kurt." They shook hands. Kurt couldn't help but think back to the first time they met, when he stopped Blaine on the staircase. He just wished Blaine was thinking the same thing. Shortly after, bell rang. "Ready to go?" Blaine nodded, collecting his stuff.
Chemistry wasn't as fun and flirty as they usually were for the boys. But Blaine did talk to him, trying to follow the lesson plan their strict teacher required him to learn.
Blaine finished the day with a large load of makeup work and homework, which he was still pretty lost on. But, he couldn't worry about that now. As soon as the bell rang to dismiss him and Finn from Speech, they were up and heading for the choir hall.
Walking into the room, Blaine saw risers with rows of red chairs on them. The entire room was filled with simple scales and arpeggios as voices and instruments were warmed up. A man in all black, with ginger hair and a mustache to match nodded to Blaine. Sheepishly, Blaine waved back. Finn abandoned Blaine, sneaking up behind his girlfriend and wrapping his arms around her waist. Lost and confused, Blaine went to the only person not currently singing. It was Brittany. She was sitting front and center, switching between watching Santana help Rory, the foreign exchange student, warm up and starring with a glassy eyed expression at nothing in particular.
"Can I sit here?" Blaine asked, gesturing to the seat next to the ditzy blonde.
"Of course, dolphin!" She pipped, patting the chair.
"Thanks." Now seated, Blaine could see the white board at the front of the room. "Who Am I?" Was written on the board sloppily with black marker. "What's going on?" He asked Brittany.
"I'm not really sure." She said, sounding half there and still gazing at her girlfriend. "I think we're singing to you about pus or us, I always mix those to up." She shrugged.
Blaine silently prayed they didn't sing about pus. He scan the room again, catching snips of everyone's voice as his eyes passed them. They were all pretty amazing, he thought with a sigh. But the virtuous sounds all came to an end, when Mr. Schuester strolled into the room to begin rehearsal.
"Alright, today's mini assignment is 'Who Am I?'" Mr. Schuester announced. "I assume everyone came prepared with their songs. And Blaine, you're in for a treat! I know Rachel already requested going first, so if you would like to go ahead and set up, while I talk..." Rachel was already up and ready. "Ok. Blaine, Finn and I came up with this assignment for the kids to express who they are to you in the way they know best, singing! So, I give you Miss. Rachel Berry!" Mr. Schue clapped, inspiring a few other students to as well.
"Hello, I'm Rachel Berry and I will be singing I'm The Greastest Star from Funny Girl." She announced, as if she had rehearsed it in her bathroom mirror a thousand times, before she began her song.
The room faded from the melodic sound of Rachel's voice to the patter of applause. "Great!" Mr. Schuester praised his star pupil. "Would you like to explain to Blaine how that describes you?"
"Mr. Schuester, please. The genius lyrics of that song paired with my unforgettable voice and Streisand-esk face is all the explanation he needs." She grinned.
"Alright.. Thank you, Rachel." Mr. Schuester sighed. "Who's next?" The next volunteer was Finn, singing "You've Got A Friend In Me", because he wanted to Blaine to know he was someone he could always come to in times of trouble, and that invitation extends to the entire club. Following Finn was Puck, singing "Beverly Hills", then Mercedes with Rent's "Take Me Or Leave Me". Next to follow her outstanding performance, was Tina singing "Melody", by Kate Earl and Quinn with "Survivor". After "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun", sung by Brittany, Santana had to tackle two in a row. She sang "When I Grow Up", then had to join Mr. Schuester in helping Rory perform "America" from West Side Story. Sam was quick to follow with "I'm A Loser Baby". After him was Sugar, who slowly and painfully attempted "Material Girl", which gave Mike the courage to sing a mash up of "Dancing With Myself" and "Just Dance" with Artie. "And last but not least, we have exactly enough time left for Kurt!" Mr. Schuester announced.
There was a reason Kurt had yet to sing. Under the hazel eyes Kurt used to adore, the word "volunteer" was morphed into "victim". He feared standing up in front of them and pouring his heart out with a song he had chosen late last night, under the impression of little sleep and hope that Blaine would come back loving him again. Then the song was perfect, now there was nothing right about it. He wanted to scream or puke, runaway or faint, hysterically laugh or cry, possibly all of them at once. Instead, he slowly made his way to Brad at the piano, handed him his sheet music, walked to the middle of the room, elegantly turned to face his peers, opened his mouth and literally sang his heart out.
As Kurt used his admittedly beautiful voice to fill the room with the lyrics of Phil Collins' "You'll Be In My Heart", Blaine couldn't bring himself to look up. He knew it was to him, that's what their assignment was, but he didn't want it to be. Hurting Kurt or anyone wasn't what Blaine wanted to do, but he also didn't want to lead anyone on. In all honesty, the feelings just weren't mutual, not just to Kurt, but guys in general.
When Kurt finished, the room filled with applause. "Would you like to explain your song choice?" Mr. Schuester asked.
Kurt shook his head, on the verge of tears. He knew Blaine didn't love him anymore. He simply said in a shaky voice, "it's what Rachel said, the song speaks for itself." Rachel ran from her seat and practically leapt onto Kurt, embracing her upset friend as the room slowly emptied.
"It's okay Kurt. I still love you, we all do. He will soon too." She whispered to him alone.
All of the glee kids walked through the now empty hallways, out to the school parking lot. Some got into the cars of their parents and friends, others got into their own cars. Finn started towards his car, assuming Blaine would follow. When he didn't, Finn turned back.
"Am I taking you home?" He asked.
"No, I think Katie should be here soon." Before Blaine had left the hospital, Katie had written her number down on a sheet of paper and given it to Blaine. The two had texted during the day and arranged to meet up after classes and Glee practice.
"Katie?" Finn asked.
"Yeah, she was a nurse in training at the hospital." Blaine explained.
"Oh, okay. Cool." Finn said. He had just assumed Blaine and Katie weren't more than friends. He was corrected as Katie sped up in a light blue Prius. The short blonde stepped out of the car. She was wearing tight denim shorts, even though it was windy and cold outside, and a low cut shirt. Everyone stopped to watch as she pranced over to Blaine and kissed him on the lips. Their wide eyes stayed glued to them as Blaine introduced her to Finn. Then they both hopped into the small car and zoomed away.
Everyone then turned their sympathetic eyes to Kurt. The looks made him sick. He sprinted back into the building, heading straight for the bathroom.
