Kurt ran out of the hospital and into the heavy rain. He let the cold water mix with the tears that had finally sprung free from his eyes. He held back his sobs as he sprinted to his car. Only when the the door was closed and locked, his seat belt fastened, did he let it go. A low choked sob, so loud that it filled his entire car, bouncing off the car's interior and mixing with the other sobs that were constantly pouring from his mouth.
Blaine. His Blaine. The boy who he loves, and the boy who loved him. Now all that's left of him is all Blaine's dad ever wanted, Mr. Anderson won. Someone had literally knocked the gay out of Blaine. Is that even possible?
Amnesia from a car crash head injury can make you forget a lot of things. But who you are, who you love? No way, Kurt had to be dreaming.
He tried all of the possible ways to wake himself up from a dream, pinching himself, hitting himself, shutting his eyes and counting to ten, but he wasn't in his bed. Finding himself still sitting in his car in the hospital parking lot, with puffy eyes and a constant flow of tears and sobs escaping his shaking body forced him to face reality. Blaine isn't gay anymore, Blaine doesn't love you anymore, Blaine doesn't remember you anymore. You are nothing to him, move on and do what he did, forget. Kurt repeated the words through tears,
"Forget Blaine."
It started as just a normal Friday- school; Glee club; the mall with Mercedes, Rachel and sometimes (like today) Blaine. They would start their mall trip in Forever 21 and shop their way down to Sephora, where Kurt had to spend the entire time keeping Blaine from the hair gel. After shopping they would go to the food court for dinner, then whoever had driven them there, would drive everyone home. Today was Rachel's turn.
"Blaine, you can come to my house. Save Rachel the hour drive." Kurt said as Rachel pulled out of Mercedes's driveway.
"Yeah, I think my car is at your house anyways."
"Right, from last n-" Kurt stopped mid sentence when he remembered Rachel sitting in the front seat, no doubt listening to them. She made eye contact with Kurt in the rearview mirror and waggled her eyebrows, Kurt just shot her his best bitch glare.
A few minutes later, they were pulling up to the Hummel-Hudson house. As Kurt and Blaine were getting out of Rachel's car, Finn got in.
"Hey Blaine!" Finn said."Kurt, can you tell mom and Burt I went to Puck's house?" Finn asked.
"Why can't you tell them?" Kurt asked, skeptically.
"They're not home." Kurt sighed, then nodded his head to Finn. "Thanks man." Finn said before slamming the car door. Rachel waved at them before driving off down the street with Finn. The two boys walked inside and into the kitchen. Just like Finn had said, there was a note on the counter that read,
Went out to dinner and a movie, we won't be out later than midnight. Love, Burt and Carole
Kurt turned to face Blaine, who was leaning against the kitchen counter.
"Looks like we're alone." Kurt said.
"Mmh" Blaine hummed as he wrapped his arms around Kurt's waist and pulled him in for a kiss. It was a desirous kiss, which quickly grew more and more steamy. Kurt put his hand on the back of Blaine's neck, deepening the kiss. Blaine slowly slid his tongue into Kurt's mouth, eliciting a small groan from Kurt.
One of Kurt's hands was massaging Blaine's neck and the other was un-tucking Blaine's shirt from his jeans, whereas Blaine had both of his hands in Kurt's back pockets, pushing the two boys closer together. That was when Blaine's phone started to ring. At first, they tried to ignore it, but Blaine recognized the ringtone, the boring, stereotypical landline ring. It was his dad.
Reluctantly, Blaine pulled away. Both boys were gasping, trying to catch their breath. Blaine waited a few seconds for his breathing to even out, before picking up the phone.
"Blaine," his father barked into the phone before Blaine could get out a greeting. "Where are you?"
"Kurt's house." Blaine replied, still a little out of breath.
"Did you ask if you could go to Kurt's house?"
"No, but curfew isn't until eleven, and I'll be home in time."
"That has nothing to do with my question. Your mom and I would like to know where you are at all times, Blaine."
"I'm sorry," Blaine said with as much sincerity as he could muster at the moment. "I thought as long as I was home before curfew, it was fine-"
"Well, you thought wrong." His father said flatly.
"But- but, I thought mom said that was the deal."
"No Blaine, no."
Kurt walked up behind Blaine and put his lips near the ear that wasn't occupied by the phone,
"I'll be in my room." He whispered. Blaine let out a tiny moan from the feeling of Kurt's warm breath tickling his ear. He hoped his dad hadn't heard.
"Are Kurt's parents there?" Mr. Anderson demanded, he had heard. Blaine hesitated for a moment, his dad wasn't going to like the answer.
"No, sir." His dad let out an irritated sigh. "I thought it would be okay, Kurt and I hang out at our house alone all the time." As soon as Blaine had said that he had regretted it.
"You what!?" His dad yelled, Blaine could tell his father's faces was red with anger just from his voice. "You bring that- that- that Kurt into my house when I'm gone?" The way he said Kurt's name was far worse than any of the words that he had originally thought of saying. He was about to defend Kurt, when his dad cut him off again. "Does your mother know about this?"
"No. But, Cooper used to bring his girlfriends to the house alone, so I thought it would be fine if I brought Kurt."
"But, that's it Blaine. You don't think! It was different with Cooper!" Blaine's father seethed.
"How dad? How is it different!?" Blaine shouted.
"You know, don't make me say it! Because, Blaine I will."
"No dad, I don't know. I don't know, because I don't think. Please tell me." Blaine said, he knew he was pushing it. The sarcasm in his voice would be enough to put his dad over the edge.
"God damnit, Blaine! You and that boy, your fags! That's the difference!" His dad yelled into the phone. "Your fucking fags!" Blaine was silent, flinching every time his dad said the word. He knew his dad had thought it and would gladly use the word with his friends, but he had never said it to Blaine. It hurt a lot more than he thought it would. "Are you happy now, Blaine?"
Blaine let out a small whimper as tears began to run down his cheeks.
"Fuck, Blaine. Are you crying?" Blaine tried to say no but all that came out was a sob. "See, that's what I'm talking about! Only girls and queers would cry at that! Why do you have to be such a fag, Blaine?"
"Dad just stop." Blaine whined.
"God, why can't you just be a normal boy for once? Come home now, you're grounded." His dad declared, before hanging up.
Blaine felt like throwing up. He closed his eyes and gripped the counter in an attempt to steady himself. He felt Kurt wrap his arms around his waist and slowly rock him back and forth. He had his chin resting on Blaine's shoulder and was whispering soothing words into Blaine's ear.
"When did you get here?" Blaine managed to choke out through sobs.
"As soon as I heard you yelling, I came. I was standing in the doorway, waiting for you to finish your call." Kurt whispered. Blaine began to shake. "Shh, it'll be okay. It's okay." Kurt murmured.
"I have to go, my dad wants me home." Blaine said, his voice wavering a little.
"Can you drive? Do you want me to take you?" Kurt asked.
"No, my dad-" He would have said that his dad wouldn't be happy about that, but he didn't want to upset Kurt. "He grounded me, so I should probably get my car home." Blaine said, in an attempt to cover his blunder.
"Okay, sweetie." Kurt reluctantly agreed, kissing Blaine's cheek. "Be careful and call me when you get home, okay?"
Blaine nodded, "I'll try." He walked out of the house and towards his car. He didn't want to leave the warmth and kindness of the Hummel-Hudson house, but he had to.
