A knot began to form slowly in Kurt’s stomach as the plane approached the runway.  This was it – either the beginning to an incredible journey, or the start of three months filled with fetching coffee and sweeping floors.

A gentle squeeze on his hand snapped him quickly back to reality as he glanced to his left, towards his best friend who was smiling so widely he thought her face might split into two.

“You’re nervous, aren’t you?” Rachel asked, glancing past him towards the Hollywood sign that glinted dully in the setting sun.

“A little… is it that obvious?”

“Only to me,” she said, reassuringly.

A silence settled over them as their minds wandered to the journey that lay ahead. It had been three years to the day that they had graduated from WMHS and moved to New York together to pursue their dreams. Though NYDA hadn’t been in the cards for them then, their dreams were bigger than ever.

After graduating high school, Kurt had finally decided on attending the Fashion Institute of Technology, though music was still, and always would be, one of his passions. He was constantly surrounded by it regardless, as Rachel was majoring in Music Theatre at NYU and was frequently throwing impromptu concerts in the living room of their shared Brooklyn apartment.

Then, a month before their spring term was ending, Rachel received a call from her dads. They’d been contacted by an old friend who was producing a new comedy show that focused on the life of high school students involved in the arts. They’d barely told Rachel that the show was looking for summer interns before she and Kurt had begun packing their bags.

It seemed like it had been mere days since he’d heard the news and decided to take the internship, but suddenly Kurt was listening to the stewardess welcoming them to Los Angeles through the intercom system. He took in a deep breath, preparing himself for whatever might lay ahead.

A soft voice broke through his thoughts, once again reminding him that at least the journey wouldn't be his alone.

“Don’t tell anyone…. but I’m a little nervous too.”

End Notes: I have 5 tests this week so I won't be able to start writing the first chapter until Thursday/Friday but I will get it up as quickly as possible. I am so excited to be writing again, and I really hope that you all enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it. Your comments and views are more appreciated than I can say! Thank you all. <3
